Rating: Summary: Poignant, Human Movie About Greed,Avarice, and Bad Luck Review: Got this motion picture on the strengths of the reviews posted here, and that was a good decision. Strong on character, plot, script, and Murphys' Law, this movie clearly illustrates classic motivators of human nature. Bad moves all along the way beset these folks, and yield a great movie that is very watchable. There are a tad too many homicides over all, but nonetheless a gripping film that stresses quality over special effects and bombast. Billy Bob Thorntons' character is gratingly stupid yet tries, and Bill Paxton really is a normal American guy faced with very unusual circumstances. A good emsemble cast. Check this one out. Powerful ending.
Rating: Summary: This movie is SPINE TINGLING!!!!!!! Review: I really loved this movie. If the scene in the police station, when Bridget Fonda calls about the "F.B.I."agent,dosen't make you sweat, then you're eating the wrong peppers son..
Rating: Summary: A nice little rewrite of "Macbeth" Review: Bill Paxton is interesting (for once!), and it was criminal that Billy Bob missed the Oscar for this great performance. A tad overdirected (too many crows, and shots of snow patches framed by blackened trees and such), but I did enjoy the way Raimi shot Fonda's face in soft, pretty focus, thereby underscoring her Lady Macbeth-machinations. In a dreary year for Hollywood product, this one stood out.
Rating: Summary: You want a plot? Get yer fix right here! Review: This picture will have you asking yourself questions. Not normal questions like "What will we have for lunch today?" More like "Would I have killed them or just taken the money and run?" This is one of the most morally taxing movies I have ever seen in my life. This all-star (killer) cast (no pun intended) led by Billy Bob Thornton and Bill Paxton simply could not have been better. This film shows a dark side of ourselves that we really don't want to see but teaches us a lesson that we can carry through life. In a greed based society this film shows us just how far it can go, and how horrible the outcome can be. Grandad was right when he said "If it ain't yours, leave it alone."
Rating: Summary: WONDERFULL! MUST BUY, RENT, OR BORROW! Review: This is a wonderful movie! Billy Bob is the bomb
Rating: Summary: Simply one the best films in years! Review: Do yourself a favor and see this movie. Billy Bob never ceases to amaze, with his true to life portrayls. Paxton is surprisingly strong, and Bridgette Fonda plays an excellent "phantom" villian.
Rating: Summary: "A Simple Plan" is anything but simple. It's great! Review: The simple plan spirals out of control, as do the lives of the characters faced with millions of dollars literally dropping into their lives. This is a movie for those who yearn for movies without explosions or car chases every 10 minutes. It's a thoughtful film that forces the viewer to ask, "What would I have done under the same circumstances". Billy Bob Thornton got robbed of an Oscar for his flawless performance. His character was both mesmerizing and heart-breaking. Bill Paxton and Bridget Fonda were excellent as well. Fonda's expression as she actually SEES the amount of money her hubby brought home for safekeeping was worth the price of admission. This is a wonderful movie, the kind we movie buffs yearn for. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: A terrific movie showing a psychological dance of 2 brothers Review: A terrific movie. Billy Thorton'sperformance was stellar. 2 brothers bound together each entangled by a past where they cannot come clean about present circumstances. The movie keeps you on the edge of your seat - the consequences of the first poor decision takes its toll on the two brothers' relationship.
Rating: Summary: This is great cinema...DON'T MISS IT! Review: This is the type of psychological thriller that clearly may not be for everyone. I saw this in the theatre and everyone was completely captivated by the plot of human nature that is at the heart of the film. The story is TOTALLY believable and the acting absoulutely flawless. This is what a really GREAT movie is all about. Don't take the advice of jaded, prejudiced, narrow-minded viewers such as the one below. Instead refer to Roger Ebert who raves about this one! "4 stars," says Ebert! Paramount will give this one the royal treatment as well with 16X9 enhancement for even greater horizontal resolution. Go for it! You'll be watching this one over and over!
Rating: Summary: The worst movie of the 1990's Review: This movie has to be the worst movie this decade. Not only was it boring, but in the end the two main characters make a bad choice. Any red blooded american would not make the same choice that they did in the end. I feel any one who likes this movie needs their heads examined.
