Rating: Summary: A-aight Review: This is a really good movie. I really loved T-boz as a singer, and she almost as good an actress. DMX did a good job. Nas was decent, but he always moves & talks in slow motion a little. Taral Hicks did the best acting job. And Method Man is a very good actor, but his roles are always so small. The lighting wasn't too good, which was the only problem i had with this movie. Other than that, I recommend this movie. And oh yeah, what the hell does BELLY mean anyway?? (if you know send me an e-mail, cuz i been dying to know.
Rating: Summary: "Thats your man..Thats..your..man!" Review: I have seen this movie many of times, and I have to say that it gets better each time I see it.I thought Hype Williams did an outstanding job for it being his first big screen movie. However there is one thing that I did not like, in some scenes it is much too dark and you can hardly make out who is who. Another thing i had a problem with is the characters names are much too confusing, I mean for people who are familiar with Tommy (dmx) aka bunds, aka bundy; sincere (nas) method man t-boz it is easier for us to recognize their character, but for others who have no idea who these people are might get confused with who is who. Other than that i thought BELLY was a great movie and it should be an afternoon afterschool special. Adee S.A.,Tx. One Love
Rating: Summary: An amazing piece Review: Belly, I thought touched every thug mentality. DMX the hardest, and baddest rebel, and Nas, the fox amongst the sheep, and all the support characters were off the hook. I was amazed at the film making skills of Hyporama (Hype Williams). He needs to get with more movies and movie makers. For a rookie movie, I would say it stands amongst the top thug flicks, like menace or boyz'n the hood. Stay up Hype.
Rating: Summary: What a piece of SH*T Review: Are you kidding me?!! NAS sold out as a rapper, appearing with Puff Daddy. What a joke he is. I have no respect for him anymore. DMX has no lyrical ability and he never did. His music is boring, and is definetly not stimulating. Hype Williams should stick to making music videos because he has no capacity for a story. The funny thing is, the lack of ability that these guys have musically is doubled when it comes to the film. Nas and Dmx ARE TERRIBLE ACTORS.
Rating: Summary: Very Underrated movie Review: Belly is a visually appealing, complex, and all around solid film. The characters are easy to understand, and make you feel for them in their respective motives. DMX was excellent in his first movie role, and it makes you wonder if he was born for the role of Tommy. Both Nas and Method Man fit into their respective roles as the thug(Sincere) who wants to leave the game, and the joker-like mercenary(Shameek). The cinematography was excellent. The most impressive aspect of "Belly" was the dynamic aspect of the characters, and how they change throughout the movie. This is a must see movie, especially for hip-hop fans.
Rating: Summary: Belly is a hip-hop version of a good old gangtser flick. Review: As a huge Nas fan, I looked forward to seeing this movie from the time I heard about it on the radio. I didn't get to see it until recently on video, and I loved every minute of it. It was a great movie and Hype Williams did a fine job of blending in his original ideas and cinemetography concepts. DMX proved to be a decent actor, and Nas was did a commendable job himself. Overall, it was a catchy, different kind of ganster flick, but I would recommend it to any fan of hip-hop and/or films such as Goodfellas and Scarface.
Rating: Summary: this movie is deffinetly phat! Review: belly is an urban drama which i think was well written and well acted out. tommy bundy aka dmx does a great job in his first movie. he is playing a character which is much like the music that he makes. i think that nas was also a good part of this movie.. the movie can really make you think"is this what life is really like for some people?" and sadly enough it is for some people. i thought this was a very good movie and i plan on buying it.
Rating: Summary: Two thumbs up! If you like movies about street life..... Review: If you liked Boyz N tha Hood, Friday, Menace to Society, and a Higher Learning then this movie is a must see. It proves that every person has a softer side even if they seem stone cold to the world. And you can change. Knowlegde is power.P'ace
Rating: Summary: LOOKS GREAT, Less Filling Review: If you watch Yo!MTVRAPS all day, you've seen this already. It's like if Charles Dickens was digging hiphop. Same story line as Menace2Society, but with a happy ending. Hype Williams pulls out all the tricks he's shown off in hiphop videos for the past few years, nothing new here. Nice opening sequence, even though it's in yet another club where everybody is dropdead gorgeous, and the bullets fly like rain. Nice eyecandy, moderate storytelling. Don't buy, rent, or just watch MTV while reading Iceberg Slim.
Rating: Summary: the movie was excellent for a video-turned- movie director Review: i thought that DMX did a great job. it was gritty and very well- done. the color was different and all around it was a thug classic. i just wish that PAC was living to play the role of DMX instead
