Rating: Summary: One of the greatest Christmas films ever made! Review: This is one of my favorite Christmas films along with "Miracle On 34th Street" (the original) and "White Christmas".There's nothing I could say about this wonderful Capra film that hasn't already been said. Stewart, Reed and Travers will always be remembered for their performances in this film. The DVD release is the best presentation yet! The VHS version I had was destroyed during a play and I replaced it with the DVD this past Christmas. It has the best picture clarity and sound I've seen so far. There are plenty of extras too. A must for all DVD collections!
Rating: Summary: Greatest Christmas of all time. I watch it every year. Review: I can't imagine Christmas without seeing this movie. I think that the cast of characters is great.
Rating: Summary: The greastest non musical of alltime!!! Review: This movie would be given 6 stars if it were possible. Christmas and Thanksgiving would not be the same if I were not able to watch this movie.
Rating: Summary: James Stewart shines Review: We can all identify with James Stewart wish about not ever being born when things seem at their worse. This movie captures the simple town life, what it means to give, sacrifices, standing for principle, comedy, faith and love that will constantly make it a Christmas classic. What a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.
Rating: Summary: All-time best Christmas Story & one of best made films ever Review: This captivating story captures the essence of Christmas that is easy to understand, easy to follow, and best of all, easy to fall in love with and watch time and time again. It is the tale of one man's ambitions, perceived failures, and eventual realizations that all human life is important and affects others lives in irreversable ways. James Stewart is marvelous, as it Capra in his directing. I have started a family tradition of watching this masterpeice every Christmas Eve, which is why I recommend buying it rather than renting it every year.
Rating: Summary: The Grand-Daddy of Them All! Review: If you've seen this film I don't need to say anything. If you haven't...you live in cave. It's my all-time favorite move of any genre. Yes, I've seen it a thousand times but I still watch it at least once exch Xmas. What's overlooked in all this is the marvelous direction of Frank Capra. Jimmy Stewart was born to play this role and thank goodness he did! If the final scene doesn't bring a tear to your eye, well then, you need to be in therapy.
Rating: Summary: Film noir becomes family fare! Review: This movie never interested me until I started watching once in the middle of it: the scene where Stewart storms away from Ma Bailey's Boarding House & stares into the camera is spine tingling! So is the scene where he lunges after Donna Reed! It's real film noir as family fare! By the way, to see what actors mean by range, compare Lionel Barrymore's curmudgeonly Mr. Potter in this movie with his Key Largo role a year later as the grieving Mr. Temple.
Rating: Summary: Best Christmas Move Ever Made Review: This is a movie I will keep forever. It is a show I will want to share with my Grandchildren. It will bring tears to your eyes. It brings the true meaning of Christmas into every home.
Rating: Summary: The Movie Comes To Life With DVD Review: I've seen this movie numerous times on tape and TV broadcasts. However, the quality of the DVD transfer really made a difference. The movie takes on a three dimensional quality and deepened my appreciation for the work that went into the film. A "must have" for those who love the classics!
Rating: Summary: Everyone should see this movie. Review: This is quite probably the greatest film ever made. On the surface, it is the ultimate 'feel-good' movie but it is also a dark and complex journey through the soul of an ordinary man. Featuring a superb performance from Jimmy Stewart along with an excellent class, the film's heart-warming ending should leave everyone with a different outlook of life.
