Summary: Don't miss it
Review: I rented this movie a little while back because it was a Kubrick film. I love Kubrick's work. This is the only of his I haven't seen. The movie is just great. This movie really shows you what talent is. It doesn't have to wow you with mindless violence, it just does it with a great script. It works great as Noir because it has that quick and dirty feel of the great noir films. Like Detour. It does move fast, but at the same time it doesn't make you feel like your just along for the ride. Don't blink because you'll miss something great.

Summary: Kubrick=Genius (simplest formula in the world)
Review: If you're debating whether or not to go rent this movie I would highly suggest doing so. The camera angles and placement are just pure genius. A great example is when the boxing match begins and the camera is placed beneath the seat of our hero, and when the bell rings and he gets up to fight his opponent you really get a sense of Kubrick's plain genius. Definately a 5 star film for anyone who really appreciates a good movie, because it has everything a good story, good acting, and the best director ever to live.

Summary: Early Kubrick
Review: In all likelihood we'll never see Kubrick's first film, _Fear and Desire_, on video or DVD. So _Killer's Kiss_ is as close to the director's origins as we're likely to get.The film itself is a pale imitation of Robert Siodmak's noir classic _The Killers_, and suffers greatly for the obvious comparison. But Kubrick's cockeyed photography and taut editing are almost enough to redeem it. There are moments of greatness, to be sure. The vicious boxing scenes have left many a viewer punch-drunk, and a few images are guaranteed to sear themselves onto your retina. Even though _Killer's Kiss_ as a whole is less than satisfying, it's well worth a look, especially for Kubrick fans.

Summary: Quick & dirty Kubrick, before mummification set in
Review: In its spareness and the shabbiness of the lives it records, Killer's Kiss recalls Edgar G. Ulmer's Detour. It's a quick (67 minutes) and dirty (New York at its seediest) film that ruthlessly and efficiently goes about its business. Cast with unknowns (at least to movies), its very anonymity underscores its late-noir heritage. Along with The Killing -- made the next year, 1956 -- Killer's Kiss demonstrates what raw talent the young Kubrick possessed before it went all to his head; movie by movie, his work got fussier, more portentous and hollower. Viewers who knows him only from masoleums like Eyes Wide Shut or The Shining or Barry Lyndon will be startled to see that, once, there was a living talent there.

Summary: A "must" for anyone interested in filmmaking!
Review: It's the earliest feature film by Kubrick that we can view. His debut film FEAR AND DESIRE sits in MOMA unavailable to audiences, so KILLER'S KISS is our only glimpse into the genius's initial attempt at filmmaking. Written, directed, photographed and edited by Kubrick, KILLER'S KISS displays all of the reclusive director's obsessions which surface in his later masterpieces. For anyone crazy enough to attempt filmmaking, here's your virtual "how-to" film to guide you in your arduous journey.

Summary: Kubick's direction saves this one
Review: Poor Stanley. He got stuck with a pretty lame script for this one. Lucky for him he's possibly the most brilliant director ever. His beautiful shooting in this picture would keep an audience thrilled even with an Eszterhas script. This film is a short sweet morsel of joy.

Summary: The kind of film I would have made if only I had the time
Review: Stanley Kubrick's extreme talents finally explode onto the big screen with this remarkable little film about a boxer who saves a young woman from her boss who tries to rape her, he soon falls in love with her and the boss gets incredibly jealous. The plot is not that good at all but thanks to Kubrick, there's plenty of great lighting, suspence and best of all a stupendous fight scene with the arms and legs of dummies. Film go's on for only 68 mins which makes it easy to sit through. See it.

Review: The five stars are more in appreciation of the limits of big budget. On pocket change Mr Kubrick knocked off a clever liitle film that acts as a " prequel " to the astonishing things to follow. It's interesting to watch this again after the seminal Eyes Wide Shut. Mr Kubricks world view never deserted him. Love the goldfish bowl shot, the street buskers and the mixed up rendevous in the street, the fight in the fashion dummy factory shows that even then Mr Kubrick could ellicit astonishingly real performances. Great little movie. Don't miss it.
