Summary: Review For Diary Of Ann Frank
Review: This was a gripping, powerful, and remarkable peice its self. The length of this movie is worth it. I suggest you see the movie, after you read the book, so you dont give the book away. Even though it's a great movie, the entries she writes are a bit off, to say the least. When you see this movie, you may laugh, cry, smile, and worry. You may love it, or you may not. The end is shocking, a bit off, but shocking. This movie is a classic, and utterly complete. To never see it would be a mistake. So by all means, I full suggest you see it, before you forget the inportance of remembering.

Summary: The Diary of Anne Frank
Review: The Diary of Anne Frank is a movie about a group of Jewish people who have to go into hiding to avoid the Nazis. Otto Frank, Anne's father, owns a company in Amsterdam, Holland where they hide. They hide in a very small annex on the top floors the building. The Van Dann's who have a son named Peter come in also. Miep and Mr. Kraler help them get supplies and all the things they need to survive. One day Mr. Kraler comes to them in need of a favor. There is a man, Dr. Dussel, has to go into hiding and he wants to know if he can hide with them. They accept and Dr. Dussel becomes part of the group. A night when the group is all calm a thief starts to rob the floors below. They make a noise and the thief hears it and runs out. Peter and Anne start to become boyfriend and girlfriend. Then one day they hear a Gestapo vehicle pull up to the building. You'll have to see the movie to find out the rest.
I liked the movie because it was very realistic in how almost all the scenes take place in the annex since they never left it. The drama is very good for example when the thief comes in everyone stops dead hoping that he won't hear them. It portrayed how it was back then very well. For example when it was not normal for a girl who is not married to be kissed. This movie was a really good movie.
There wasn't much I disliked about this movie except for a few things. One main thing that annoyed me is that the movie was in black and white. Also the characters the way they looked didn't look much like they did back in the days of World War 2. Also the times when Mr. Van Dann cried seemed sort of fake.
There are a ton of connections between the play and the movie. Almost all of the film is word for word with the play. Except in a few areas it was different like when Peter kissed Anne in the movie it was on the lips and in the play it's on the cheek. So basically if you see the movie you know what happens in the play. I recommend for you to read both the play and the movie.

Summary: Definetly a keeper
Review: The movie the diary of Anne Frank is one of the best movies I've ever seen; the acting is dramatic and is funny at times. They only made a few mistakes like the secret Annex is supposed to be a back building but they make it look more like an attic, and Anne recieved her Diary on her birthday almost a month before they went into hiding, and Anne's sister Margot is supposed to wear glasses, and they kept pronouncing Margots name with the T sounding, when in the dutch language, Margot is pronounced without the T like Margo, and howcome they keep prounouncing Annes name like Anna, Annie and Annica when its pronounced Anne, and mister Kralers name is actully Victor Kugler, mr. Kraler was the Alias she gave him in her Diary, and there were four helpers not 2, they left out Bep Voskuijl out and they left out Johannes Klieman, and Mrs. Van Pels and Mr. Van Pels were Mr and Mrs. Van Daan in the movie when that was Annes alias to them, and Yandus Dussel was not Annes alias to Fritz Pfeffer, in fact it was Albert Dussel. So maybe they did make a alot more mistakes then expected, I may be only 11 but I spot everything, I think they even used the real Diary in the movie, it has the same covering and looks excactly the same. Of course the reason why they made all those mistakes with the aliases was because they were copying the whole thing from the Diary. Its still definetly a keeper.

Summary: This play is an inspriation to me&I'm sure to others as well
Review: I rented this movie from Blockbuster last night and I watched it (I'm watching it again right now).It is a wonderful movie.I know that it was/is based on the real thing and I am glad to know that I can not only read her diary and other books to know what Anne,her family,and the Van Daans suffered through,I can watch a movie and/or play about it as well~! I really did enjoy it and I reccomend it to everyone,old or young.It should make you think that no one in this world should be killed just because they are Jewish,America,Chinese or any other race.We are all one and will always be one as long as we all work together.I honestly believe what Anne said:

Summary: Excellent but....
Review: Good,beautiful film in every respect with excellent acting. One scene in particular that just chills me to the bone is when they are listening to their radio and they hear a voice screaming insanely (Hitler condemning Jews no doubt, though I don't know German). The only thing is that the end leaves you hanging; you're like, but what's going to happen to them now? How did the nazis even find them? And when you're about to find out the answers to those questions, the movie unfortunately ends. It's a really good film that keeps you hooked, especially if you have a real interest in the Holocaust and getting to know the innocent people who suffered in the Holocaust; it just ends too soon. Note, though: if you watch this to the end and wonder, like me, what happened next or how they were found out by the Nazis then you should watch the video of the Anne Frank miniseries that ABC made last year. That, too, is excellent and the second half of it answers the questions that the end of this 1959 film naturally makes you ask.

Summary: Beauty of spirit in the midst of War!
Review: Anne Frank wanted to be a writer, maybe live in Paris....but life didn't go the way she wanted it to. Instead, her life went in a completely opposite direction. I cannot help feeling that perhaps her life was meant to be the way it was, so generations after her, would remember the war in such a way as to never want such a human tragedy to occur again. This is a version of the Broadway drama dealing with the Holocaust and perhaps that is why it is more upbeat. This movie is more entertaining than horrifying. While there is an undercurrent of fear and suspense throughout the whole movie, there is much left to the imagination.When Anne and her family are forced into hiding in Amsterdam, she is pensive at first, but soon learns that she can create her own happiness. There are two families living in a small space and they must face the possibility of being discovered at any time. They face hunger and cabin fever. They spend time reading, sewing, listening to the radio and being as quite as they can for most of the time. In the evenings when the workers in the factory below go home, they can then resume family life. Anne has not been exposed to the evils of life. In 1942 she starts a journey to learn about herself and about the hardships of life. After receiving a diary as a present, she immediately starts to pen all her thoughts which are buried deep in her heart. As they spill out onto the pages, we are invited into Anne Frank's world. The world of a teenage girl, who is just learning about life, yet who learns so much in so little time. I found this movie to perhaps be the most emotionally engaging story I have ever watched on film. Anne Frank had my heart in the first ten minutes. I was in love with her character, her personality, her big bright eyes, her interesting way of looking at life, her thought process, her eternal optimism and her delightfully impetuous nature. You will simply forget you are watching a black-and-white film. The picture is so colored by the characters that in fact, you will forget you are watching a movie. It is quite amazing how a film could be made on two families living in a few rooms in an attic. For this to be possible and enjoyable, the story had to be so true, and so real, that it would demand your full attention. While this movie is based in the second World War, it is not at all pensive through the entire movie. I found myself laughing at one line so much, I actually cried. It was a line about the cat and I think you will think it is quite funny, especially if you watch the expression on the face of Ed Wynn as he is saying it. The cat belongs to Peter and becomes a part of the family. Having a cat in this movie was a delightful surprise. The playful taunting between Anne and Peter is amusing. Anne has no friends to talk to and can't believe she is trapped up in this room with no girlfriends to talk to. She is such a typical teenager, that you completely understand her frustration. While today we find it hard to comprehend how anyone could have their freedoms taken away from them, It could happen as easily to us as it did to them. Each time we treat someone with disrespect, we add to the evil influences in the world. It all starts in the heart. To me, Anne represented the good in the world, the light shining in the darkness. She had a heart which was so giving and she was open to experiencing life, no matter what her circumstances. Perhaps her soul was the most beautiful one God ever allowed to walk on our earth, and for such a short time. This is a movie you will never forget. Of all the movies I have seen, this one was the most beautiful in spirit.

Summary: One of the Best Films of All TIme
Review: This movie blew me away, which is remarkable to say for a black and white 50's movie. But honestly--this movie will be remembered and respected far more than the overproduced dreck of today's movies. I was a little unsure first when I rented the movie--three hours of an old black and white movie? But I was totally drawn in immediately. The cast was superb and the story was compelling. The ending, when they're about to be discovered is ABSORBING, and sad . . .

Summary: Sad movie
Review: This movie really was good, even though I don't like the black and the white movies, but that one was exciting, touching and deserves to watches it, because it embodies the occurring life of the Jewish people in World War II. Also it seems the gloomy situation of people who were in hiding places for fear of the Germans to take them to the concentration camps. Anne Frank's position was one of them, it really was a hard time to live cut off from outside and deprived of a lot of things. I didn't know it until I read the book and I watched the movie. I can't belive or imagine how the two families had to be quiet and very careful as much as they could all the day during the 48 months. It really makes me wonder how they could survive the 2 years without freedom and fresh air, the most important things to live with. I also have some comments about the movie which I found exactly the opposite of the story for example: Dussel told Anne that he never got married but I still remember when Anne talked about everyone in the Secret Annex first wish, when they are allowed to go outside again he said that he wants to see his wife Lotje. Anne's helpers in the story were 4 but in the movie were only 2. In general the acting and actors were convincing.

Summary: A True Masterpiece
Review: This film is a really exeptional tribute to the legacy of Anne Frank.I began to be interested in this subject when I was twelve,and I own numerous books on the subject.Aside from this film,my other two favourite WW2 films are 'Mrs Miniver',and 'Conspiracy Of Hearts'. Millie Perkins is quite good in the lead,although she was criticised by critics for her performance(Audrey Hepburn was originally considered,being a friend and patron of the Anne Frank Educational Trust and a lifelong advocate of the Diary,but declined,saying that she could not bear to live through that nightmarish time again,even if only just through film) Also lauded was Richard Beymer as Peter van Daan,and Shelley Winters' star turn as Mrs van Daan is truly amazing. The music score is gorgeous as it swells and throbs we can comprehend the tragic irony that all these people wanted to do was go outside,and when they did they knew that they would perish. George Stevens,who filmed much of the original concentration camp footage,surpassed himself with this film,and brought Anne's story to a huge and glorious canvas.
