Summary: The Amazon critic who crit this does not know enough to say
Review: The Amazon critic is ignorantly wrong. Again, white critics not understanding that there has never truly been a love story about young, intelligient, professional, not in jail or selling drugs African Americans. The story is an old one, but the idea is new. Get this film and keep it in your collection. It will help you aspire to keep your relationships working through lifes struggle and see African Americans as I have always known them to be.

Summary: IF YOU LIKE LOVE STORIES, THIS ONE IS VERY REAL.
Review: I thought that the film was an excellent example of relationships, ie African American relationships. There were no drugs, no miseducation. This is a great film for non-whites in the US to see so that they can understand that life in the black community is not always per a gangsta rap song, that is one artistic medium that African Americans sometimes use...see JAZZ and rock for other references. The one thing that I would like to point out per the other reviews is that the film seems to take place in Washington DC, surrounding an artistic, elite, historically black college area called U-street corridor. The Sanctuary is on U-Street in Washington DC, and the main character ran through Union Station to catch his love...unless there is a Union Station in Chicago. Thank you.

Summary: Oscar Material
Review: I'm disappointed that this movie didn't win a few Oscars...What a story, what a cast ! whoever pick the cast couldn't have done better. Very warm and touching love story, worth owning. Mike St.Clair

Summary: Chocolate Love in the City
Review: It was a wonderful site to see a black couple on the big screen with a "normal" life. There is no gun shooting, drug dealing or unnessary degrading of a female or male. This movie shows a black couple that goes through the ups and downs of a relationship. It also shows the friends they turn to for advice. This movie scores big with me because the actors are great in their roles and the storyline is well written.

Summary: A love story that relates to African-Americans!
Review: I missed watching the movie in theatres. I bought the video tape and watched the movie without getting up and loved it. It is a beautiful and romantic movie blended with poetry and music. Larenz Tate is a handsome actor and Nia Long is a beautiful black woman.

Rating: 5 stars
