Summary: Powerful Filmmaking, Sadly Overlooked
Review: This tale of a Florida Black town and racism and hatred gone unchecked is one of the most powerful, emotional films I have ever seen. You won't hear about this tragic event in public school, that's for certain. A certifiable massacre, brought about by a WHITE woman's infidelities, this movie still resounds in my head after only one viewing. Ving Rhames as the heroic "Mr. Man" helps save some of Rosewood's citizens from slaughter, but he can't prevent the horror the white mob brings to the town. A haunting example of ignorance unchecked, it's hard to decide whether this is a drama or a horror film. Jon Voight's portrayal of the reluctant shopkeeper is stellar, and the entire cast is wonderful. John Singleton makes great movies that sadly get overlooked. This movie should be known everywhere for it's unflinching depiction of a terrible stain on America's history. A film that would be dangerous to forget.

Summary: one of Rhames' best
Review: Ving Rhames delivers a great and powerfully compelling part. this movie is about a bunch of rednecks and they think a blackman raped this white woman who claims they did. intense direction by Singleton. the rednecks sure know how to say the N word huh. Don Cheadle and Jon Voight are also great to watch as they try to battle it out with the rednecks with Rhames. this is based on actual events that took place. a moving and if you think about it, scary as hell for its time.

Summary: excellent docu-drama
Review: What an excellent movie. A moving portrait of the 1922 massacre in Rosewood, Florida. Without shedding too much blood or jeopardizing the truth of the story through unneccessary action, director John Singleton narrates the tragic events over New Years' eve weekend, leading to the destruction of a peaceful black town. Ving Rhames & Jon Voight are the characters crossing the racial lines in their effort to save at least some women & children from the raging crowd. And all, because of a single lie.
Highly recommended for everybody interested in history.

Summary: This was an excellent movie
Review: When I first saw this movie it was so emotional.I could really feel what the people were going through.I think I cried in the movie. All african-american people should see movies like these, so that you can know about your history. And what your people went through.Don't let let anyone make you forget about slavery. Never forget about it. It was your history. Brothers and sisters,
you need to know where you come from. This was an excellent movie. It made you cry, it made you angry and it made you hopeful. There should be more movies like this. This is the kind of movie to own.

Summary: Change of Heart
Review: You know i really read my post after looking it over and i have to admit that i was being as racist as the people in this movie. It's hard for me as a person to watch this movie and not begin to have racist feelings to white people. But you know what i can't condem all white people as being this way because that's rediculoues. Yesterday or today i was watching the Movie "Tears of the Sun" Staring bruce willous and i don't know the whole story but my main focus was on these soilders that were white and there was a black dude in there also that were fighting some kind of war and i wish i knew what it was about but what i was looking at mostly in my mind and what i saw in the movie was these white soilders fighting to save these Libyan black people from these disgusting black libyan soilders that were killing the civilans for some reason. And i asked my self while i was watching this would i do the same thing for people that were white and it was a quick answer and they answer was yes. It kinda shocked me because it was no longer about white and black it was about right and wrong. The answer is i would without hesitating. If it was white people that were slaves in america under black people i would kill black slave owners and fight in a civil war to free white people in this country or any other. And this is what white people felt like when they fought in the civil war against the south. I now know that racism like homophobia is a bunch of bull. It's stupid . It really is stupid and i now don't even understand why someone would want to hate someone because they are different than you. Also watching the Movie " American History X" Changed my to think this way also so see that movie. I now have the same thinking as gay people. I believe we should celebrate diversity
