Review: When I went to the theaters to watch this movie. I invited my grandma who is a big fan of war movies and I also invited my two cousins. After seing Saving Private Ryan, I was expecting a film alot like it or even better. When the film started I almost fell asleep in the theater. Through the whole movie, my cousin wispered to me "This movie S***S!" I just keeped my mouth shut continued watching it. The plot was very dull and boring. I was begging for the movie to be over. The only thing that cought my attention was the battles scenes. By the time the movie was over. It was a big dissapointment, what a disaster for 20th-Century Fox. My folks reaction was even worse than mine! They said it was a joke. This movie is like a cartoon compared to Saving Private Ryan. This movie is so bad it is not even worth renting it on video. I do not recommend this at all!

Summary: Finally.....an intellegent war film
Review: Anyone who did not like this movie should stick to Armaggedon and Independence Day. The cinematography alone is the most incredible Ive ever seen. My favorite line is the very first,"What is this war at the heart of nature." I feel sorry for anyone who did not understand the true meaning of Terrence Malicks masterpiece.

Summary: This movie caused me to have a religious experience....
Review: Yes, you read the tag line correctly. After spending over two hours of my life watching this movie, I realized that I was in danger of being bored to death. My life was in danger, the closest I had ever felt. I needed to be saved from this sure cinema-induced death from boredom. Then, while close to panic because I couldnt get out of the row in the theatre to escape this disaster, I felt a strong hand on my shoulder. It was a calm, soothing angelic being saying to me- "you've suffered enough, I will let you leave this movie screening- but you must promise me one thing." my mind spun around, what would this being request of me in exchange for my life? "Go, and spread the word, Thin Red Line is dangerously boring, prevent others from succumbing to the horror you have expereinced watching this truly bad movie". I left the theatre immediately. As I fulfill my promise, I say, this is the worst, most boring, poorly scripted motion picture ever made. A complete waste of time.

Summary: I agree, too smart for it's own good
Review: The Thin Red Line was undoubtedly one of the greatest pictures of all time, and let me explain. The people on here who gave the film one or two stars because it was 'stupid' or 'boring' is because they are part of what you would call 'mainstream audience'. This film is too smart and deep for it's own good because it flys right over 'mainstream audience's' heads. I left this film awestruck at how Terrence Malick could turn the novel into such a work of art. If you can sit through a movie without needing to have Bruce Willis run through, guns blazing to keep your interest, go see this film. If you don't get it however, and do need the Bruce Willis factor, go review the dvd version of Die Hard or something and please stick to something you understand. I don't like the fact that the people who review this film seem to need that factor, please people, if you didn't get it, don't review it. Thank you for your time.

Summary: Quite simply one of the best movies I've ever seen.
Review: If you have half a brain and are in the mood for a movie that will knock you upside the head with stunning visuals, riveting performances and a fantastic storyline that jumps from one person's point to another, this is the movie for you. Don't listen to everybody saying this is a boring or dry flick. But be prepared though, it is not a war film, but a reflecting on war film. You could watch it 5 times and still get more out of it. Give this movie an honest chance!

Review: I feel perhaps a spat tastless in saying that this movie wasn't as good as I thought it would be because I saw Saving Private Ryan first. I felt the inner thoughts of the characters in The Thin Red Line were choppy, over acted, and down right boring. My grandfather and his brother, both of whom were WWII vets felt the movie was an absolute joke. Overall, I thought much the same. The only thing that saved the movie from being a total bust was the overall madness the movie presented. The confusing thoughts of the soldiers, the slow fustrating battle scenes, all of these gave the viewer the closest thing one could possibly get to of fighting in the Pacific in WWII. Saving Private Ryan is the best movie I have ever seen. Compairing it to the Thin Red Line is useless. No contest. The Thin Red Line, in my mind, joins Hamburger Hill in the over hyped, just another war movie barrel.

Review: This movie is the most overrated of the decade. Skip it and see Platoon instead. It tells the same story in a much more linear and compelling fashion.

Review: This movie is NOTHING like Private Ryan. The action seens are mundane and boring. The lush sceneary and the showing of the native tribe is completely irrelevant to the story line. It will put you to sleep and I don't reccommend it at all.

Summary: Best since Apocalypse Now
Review: This is an immensly beautiful and moving portrait of life in war, of death, of the loss and test of faith and of survival. It is epic and sprawling, with wonderful arrangements of imagery and some fantastic nuggets of acting, including Nolte and Penn. The philosphical musings which run through the film are both distrubing and engaging. A movie that is probably too intelligent for its own good, but unforgettable, reminiscent of Coppola's Apocalypse Now.
