Summary: The Grand Daddy of Disaster Movies
Review: Yes, it's campy. But hey, It's it's a Movie. I saw this movie in the theatre about 15 times, (that's before Home video ever came into view). This movie is fun. It even inspired me to go into aviation. Even though I was only 5 years old when I saw it at the movies, I still remember the applause when Joe Patroni got that plane out of the snow. This is a bonafide classic.

Summary: A funny disaster movie!
Review: Airport is one funny movie. I was not even born when this movie was in the theatres and hence, wanted to see the movie that led to other memorable disaster movies such as Towering Inferno. It is a bit amazing that they managed to get Burt Lancaster. However, that shows that he was very desperate for cash.

Summary: Aviation True for Hollywood
Review: After reading this book, and purchasing this movie, I am impressed. I am a pilot, and the scenes of aviation are true if not archaic. In today's standards, Hollywood shifts everything out of proportion. However, if a viewer wants a true insight to the thoughts and processes of a an aviator or air traffic controller, this movie is one of the best sources. What the special effects lack, it makes up in depth and character.

Review: Although a very good movie, Universal and GoodTimes need their head examined for not showing the whole movie in widescreen. Only split-screen moments (telephone calls, air communication, and credits) are in wide. Maybe they'll be a thirtieth anniversary edition in widescreen.

Summary: Arguably the worst film ever nominated for Best Picture.....
Review: yet it stands as one of the best guilty pleasures of all time. To call this film a cheesy, overbaked soap opera would be understating things by a factor of twenty. Still, the entire cast chews scenery (especially George "Freudian Cigar" Kennedy) wonderfully and the "effects" (picture in picture silliness) are of the bargain basement variety. Overall, a ridiculous film with zero suspense and unsympathetic leads, yet full of unintentional laughs and a script unparalled in its inconsequentiality.

Summary: the mother of all disaster films
Review: sure this film is corny, but compared to its sequals it's an art house movie. I have read that Burt Lancaster only did this for money and later on called it the biggest piece of crap ever made. But it is a good movie and it avoids the excess coniness of the following films,especially airport 77 and 79, not that the airport 75 was much better. I liked Dean Martin as the pilot,although people usually find the idea of him as a pilot funny, but hey he was an actor and his part was no Hamlet. He was his usual self and good enough.

Review: Inspired by Arthur Hailey's bestseller, "Airport" delivers a fair share of drama, thrills, and humor. Considering it's age, it is rather tame by today's standards. Standing out among the cast is Helen Hayes as the impish stowaway and Maureen Stapleton as the desparate woman trying to stop her psychotic husband. Both were nominated for supporting actress Oscars, with Hayes winning. Also great are Dean Martin as the womanizing pilot, Jacqueline Bisset as the beautiful stewardess, and George Kennedy as the tough-talking maintenance chief. With it's well drawn characters and multiple plotlines, this old-fashioned thriller is sure to entertain all ages.

Review: For anyone who has dreamed of working for the airlines or airports or if you're just a fan of the industry, this movie is a must see. This a great snapshot of how glamorous and exciting flying was in the early days of the jetliner.

Summary: Movie an uncommonly good disaster film; VHS technical flop.
Review: I wanted to add the film to my see-it-again collection; I knew what to expect. The first cassette amazon sent was defective, stopped dead in about 10 min. Wonderfully courteous telephone staff sent another. This one played to the end but my eyesight suffered. Scratches and worse all the way through. Some areas almost blanked out. This time I'm returning it to the manufacturer; amazon has gone the extra mile already. Watch out for films from Good Times Video!

Review: This movie is one of the most star-studded, fantastic movies ever! This movie has been one of my favorites for years. And it is just as good as the book! But I suggest you read the book first.
