Summary: Amazing! You got to see this!
Review: History comes alive in this unforgetable epic motion picture Pearl Harbor, the spectacular blockbuster brought to the screen by Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay. Astonishing visual and audio effects put you at the center of the event that changed the world - that early Sunday morning in paradise when warplanes screamed across the peaceful skies of Pearl Harbor and jolted America into World War II. This real-life tale of catostrophic defeat, heroic vistory and personal courage focuses on the war's devastating impact on two young daring pilots, Ben Affleck (Armageddom) and Josh Hartnett (The Virgin Suicides), and a beautiful dedicated nurse, Kate Beckinsale (Serendipity), Pearl Harbor is extraordinary moviemaking - a breathtaking reenactment of the "date which will live in infamy," and a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who lived it.

Summary: History lesson and a love story ...
Review: History lesson and a love story all in one. Movies are entertainment and this DVD was packed with a visual audio and strong parallel story lines. Long on time but held my attention. Please note this was my first DVD viewing and I found it to be memorable. Truly felt as though I was viewing from the movie theatre.

This movie should appeal to men and women as the love story can not be viewed as merely a chick flick when there is so much action going on with the war scenes. There is fighting and violence but it is tempered with real emotion and real connection. The friendship portrayed between the two lead male characters is parallel to the love they share for the same women.

Just an all around good story!

Summary: horrible
Review: this movie is absolutely horrible...it is essentially the movie "armageddon" (the worst movie of all time), but about pearl harbor. i was offended by it, as i felt that it did not pa th proper respects to the men who gave their lives that day, on top of being a horrible movie. glaring historical inaccuracies also contribute to this rating.

Summary: Boom! Boom!
Review: Amazing war scenes. My jaw dropped when I saw the dogfights and the Japs attacks! I found myself holding on my seats when those two guys were able to grab their planes and smoked some Japs. I just can't imagine how they depicted those scenes, especially the sinking of those big boats! My home theater was pushed to it's limits. Guns and explosions can be heard everywhere in my home theater. Wow! Like Saving Private Ryan, the fight sequences are soooo realistic!!!

Summary: AN AWESOME MOVIE!
Review: This movie is so great! It has an adorable love story, which is a little unrealistic but still fun to watch. It is mostly about the war though, so it's history and romance! I definitely recommend seeing this. It shows that there is hope in everything. The movie is pretty graphic though, and it was a little disturbing for me seeing all the dead soldiers. Buy this movie!

Summary: How Deprssing! Adria Schmidt age 10 and a half "It was ok.."
Review: Well, I'd have to admit... It was very intense, dipressing, and made me notice who bad it would be if I had been their. I just can't beleive SOME people survived. I loved waching "The Making".

I can't beleive that some of the bons blowing up were real. And sometimes the planes were real to. If you like WAR movies, you'll like this one.

Summary: Pearl Harbor Ben Affleck
Review: After viewing a trailer for Pearl Harbor 10 months before its release, I couldn't wait for this film to become a reality. Having been a Tora, Tora, Tora fan for many years, I was ready for a newer edition using modern computer generated special effects. I must be honest in that I was disapointed on my first viewing of this movie. I guess I was expecting a re-hash of Tora, Tora, Tora where the main theme was from more of a military perspective. I felt the romantic plot was overemphasized and took precedence over the heart of the story, which was the attack. However, this film grows on the viewer. After purchasing the DVD, my view began to change. I discovered that the romantic plot actually sets up the attack sequence in giving it more impact upon the viewer. I'm applaud producer Bruckheimer and director Michael Bay for expressing the foresight not to make an updated version of the earlier Tora film. Using the perspective from a people point of view makes this film watchable. Without people, there is no story, and the main characters could have been any one of a thousand who had similar experiences while stationed at Pearl and who were there on that historical day.
The special effects during the attack were stunning, and the sound on the DVD brings home to those who have a digital decoder, and compatible surround sound, the same impact as was experienced at the theaters. The DTS option is the only way to experience this film to its fullest....Dolby Digital eat your heart out!!
Also, Hans Zimmer's electrifying musical score adds not only a sense of beauty to such a horrific event, but successfully adds impact in shaping the mood of the complete story.
I know many disagree with me on this one as I have read countless reviews of those who were very disapointed in the film as I was at first. But in my opinion, this DVD should be part of any video collection. It is definitely worth the price.

Summary: History and war for 12 year old girls
Review: Or maybe 14 year old... OK, it's fiction and is meant to be entertaining, but I can't imagine many adults, especially males, are going to be able to sit through three hours of this.

I won't go into a long list of all the gaffs and silliness in it: the dialog may be goofy, but the photography is colorful.
That's something at least.

Summary: Why 2 Discs?!
Review: Great special effects but this is no "Midway". History buffs need not buy this disc. Save your money and rent this just for the special features.

One of the reasons DVD's are so popular is that you can put an entire movie on one disc...Then why did the makers of this movie decide to make the consumer get up to change discs to see the conclusion of the film? Unacceptable. Wait until they put out a 1 disc version!

Summary: Don't forget..this is entertainment!
Review: Does the film deliver as entertainment? Yes. That is the bottom line. Does it deliver for historical accuracy? Well...pretty much.

I am glad the movie includes lesser known, real life characters and their exploits. Have to give the filmmakers credit for that. It also captures the real feel of the 40s, where travel and communications aren't like they are today. The scene where the nurses arrive at Pearl Harbor is great. They are wide-eyed in this place they had never seen or been to before. I thought that was a good touch.

Love story- lots of reviewers mention the cheesy love story. As a 36 yr old, I have no idea just how difficult relationships are in times of war. I thought PH actually did a good job portraying the conflict of feelings, and how one deals with the uncertainties of wartime romance. The phenomenal Battle of Britain scenes help keep the movie from bogging down until the immediate build up to the Pearl Harbor attack.

Glad it ends with the Doolittle Raid- that story deserves each and every opportunity to remind the world about those incredibly brave sailors and airmen. Also glad scenes of the Eagle Squadron at the Battle of Britain are included as a way to remember those brave american volunteer airmen that helped the British in their most desperate hour.

Remembering the film is entertainment...sit back and enjoy the aerial scenes and turn up the volume!
