Rating: Summary: Movie Critics get it wrong - again! Review: My wife and I thought this was a GREAT MOVIE! We'd give it 4 1/2 stars, maybe 5. The character development, acting, and 1940's sets were all worth the price of admission. The attack on Pearl Harbor is reproduced incredibly well and is very educational to those who really didn't know the extent of the horrors of that historic day. Take off 1/2 star for some of the black and white footage from the History Channel. Otherwise, a great epic! See it, you won't be sorry.
Rating: Summary: A Truly Powerful Movie Review: Pearl Harbor, with its spectacular special effects, its great love triangle theme, intense battle scenes, and excellent cast make this truly one of the most enjoyable movies ever, destroying Titanic in every way. The movie is epic in proportion, clocking in at over 3 hours long and nearly a 150 million dollar budget. The first hour and a half has nearly no action in it, but does not disappoint, as each character is interesting to watch, the story twists and turns, and the focus on the early 1940's style is fun to watch. Then, the movie goes on for another 40 minutes to show the best battle scene in movie history, with Industrial Light & Magic breaking records once again. Finally, the last hour takes place 3 months after Pearl Harbor where the main characters are sent on a top-secret mission into Japan. Each and every scene is good in every way, and will not disappoint you. So why did the movie get bad ratings? There was one tremendous flaw that was unavoidable due to the budget cuts the producers were forced to make: the inconsistency. Just as I said there were 3 main sections, each section is practically cut off from the other and characters are very rarely interwoven. Many characters will appear in one section of the film and will be thrown out just as easily as they appear. Cuba Gooding Jr., Tom Sizemore, and Dan Ackroyd, each of which I give great credit to their performances, are cut off from the rest of the plot and do not add anything to the story; Cuba Gooding plays a naval officer who fights, and that's it; Ackroyd is an intelligence officer who attempts to predict the Japanese aggressive movements, and interacts only with F.D.R., convincingly played by John Voigt; and Tom Sizemore runs a small plane hangar, who, once again, simply fights. These 3 characters are introduced in the second section, and are completely forgotten in the third. Many scenes had to be cut, which hurt the flow of the movie; each part was carefully thought out and very convincingly portrayed, but many people, including me, felt that they were watching 3 seperate movies. The decision to not completely focus on one part was probably a good one, but without the money and the means, the moviemakers bit off more than they could chew. Still, it is an excellent Hollywood movie, and will definitely be worth seeing.
Rating: Summary: just a mosaic made for attack scenes Review: As just as other Miachel Bay's films, great scenes but no streamlined story.ILM did another great job for the attack scenes. But that's it. If you like zeros, go ahead to see it. Not many real ones but lots of CGI ones. They are okay. The love story does not go well. A typical development.
Rating: Summary: Not a war movie, but entertaining! Review: Nobody should have expected a great war movie full of details and guts, and on the same side there is not the greatest love story involved either - but none of that matters. It can be likened to "Titanic" due to the love story set against the backdrop of the events in 1941. The love triangle is quite a complex and interesting one - but unique and involved enough to bring a lump to your throat. The action sequences are brilliant. Ben and Josh shine. In the end this is a movie that delivers everything it promised and should not be faulted for it's grand style nor should the fact that it really is a "Hollywood" summer epic be considered a criticism - on the contrary it is the best such film in a long time.
Rating: Summary: Pearl Harbor Does Have Some 'Pearls' Review: While the movie reviews have panned Pearl Harbor for being 'light weight' and 'romance-sappy', what they forget is that movies are all about entertainment. And this movie has a big blockbuster feel and look that will be huge at the box office. (Not to mention DVD when it comes out.) Disney has created a bigger than life saga that will get to you, whether you are 15 or 50. The romance is strong, the effects are dazzling and it really does keep your attention for 3 hours; many other movies aren't even close in this regard. Go to Pearl Harbor and you will find some pearls in either the action or the romance. And should you visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial in Hawaii, I guarantee it will move you much more after having watched this movie.
Rating: Summary: All that hype for nothing Review: That was the biggest piece of [junk] I have ever seen. Talentless MTV/Dawson's Creek crowd director Michael Bay teams with mega producer Jerry Bruckheimer to give us a "mega disappointment". That love triangle had to be one of the silliest and most rediculous piece of screenwriting I have ever seen. Why in the world did they even bother to put that stupid love triangle in the movie? Michael Bay has taken one of the most important events in the history of our country and has trivialized it by trying to appeal to the MTV crowd with a silly love story. At times the drama was so contrived and the dialogue so cliched that I was cringing in my seat. Is it a love story or is it a historical film? I don't know and neither did Michael Bay when he was making the film. Instead he tries to pull off telling two stories at once in the movie and fails at it miserably. Unfortunately as many are saying, this movie is critic proof and will make a killing because people have gotten so used to the first rate garbage that Hollywood puts out. There is so much more I could get into but I'm sure some of you will touch on it. Don't waste three hours and your $8. Heck, don't even bother buying the DVD.

Review: This was a good movie, and I liked the plot and it is worth watching it is very sad, plus it's 3 hrs long well the acting was good, Ben Affleck did a good job some parts were like, titanic and it is good go see it. I am going to buy this on DVD when it comes out. You will like this movie.
Rating: Summary: Good special effects, long movie Review: This is as good as it gets if you want to see what Pearl Harbor must have looked like during the famous attack. The computer graphic generated airplanes look breathtakingly realistic. It went on a little long for my taste, but was otherwise an excellent movie. Now if they could just make my favorite WW2 book into a movie! (Grandfather's Tale: the Tale of a German Sniper) THAT would be awesome.
Rating: Summary: It was a day that lived in infamy , and a levithan epic. Review: It was a day that would live in infamy and battle sequenses that will be talked about forever in movies.Featuring an all star cast Ben Affleck , Tom Sizemore , Alec Baldwin , and Jhon Voight also starring Kate Beckingsale. The first 90 minutes of the film is obviously a love triangle between two navy piolets and a war time nurse who charms them both having her love affair with Reves first but when Reves reports fort a war assigment his plane gets shot down behind the lines of fire. When Danny comes back with bad news suddenly evilen and Danny have a steamy love affiar. All of this centering around the Japanese planning the infamous attack. The next 90 minutes is the actual attack itself and let me tell you the attack on Pearl Harbor is the longest and most epic war scenes that have ever been captured for film nonstop 40 minutes the attack goes on it's literally amazing , the next part is Dolittles attack in wich Danny and Reves are a part of with bearly any fuel and no reinforcments they plan there attack only to crash on a Japanese island. If anything Pearl Harbor gives us a up close and personal veiw of the day of infamy and your not going to find one other film that will make it as patriotic as this , is it worth standing in line for , for the war scenes alone a big yes.
