Summary: A absolute must-have DVD of a gangster classic!!!
Review: First of all,let me just say that I'm an absolute fan of this film classic and that it's now presented in a brand-new,beautifully restored,and excellent 20th Anniversary DVD release! The brand-new 2-disc DVD is perhaps the ultimate edition of SCARFACE than what you will ever see,that's because this version has been digitally remastered,has both 5.1 Dolby Sound and 5.1 DTS Stereo,and it's availible in both standard screen (1.33.1) and widescreen (2.35.1) versions.I chose the Widescreen version to see the spectacular cinematography by the late,great John Alonso and all of the action that helps makes this film excellent to watch! The first disc consists of the entire feature (170 mins) while the second disc consists mostly of great bonus features.The bonus features have four short documentaries (which features interview excerpts taken from the 1998 Collector's Edition DVD which is now out of print featuring Brian DePalma (director),Al Pacino (star),Martin Bregman (producer),and Oliver Stone whose script was inspired by his real-life addiction to cocaine!) plus an all-new documentary called DEF JAM PRESENTS:ORIGINS OF A HIP-HOP CLASSIC which chronicles the film's pop-culture status on the world of rap and hip-hop music with interviews from Jay-Z,P Diddy,Snoop Dogg,and others as they share their influences about the film.Deleted scenes are also included,but that's about all the bonus features that you will ever get on this DVD.That aside,the picture quality is absolutely sharp and clear since the '98 release had been poorly taken from a badly transferred print and had green stripe lines throughout most of it,and also the sound is excellent.It's one of the best DVD releases in a long time and that it was absolutely worth the wait! Get this classic on DVD before it too will be leaving the shelves as well!!

Summary: A GANGSTA CLASSIC......
Review: This is, and will alway's be the greatest gangsta epic
of all time. This film was so awesome- astounding and
well-crafted action, beautiful filming, and a amazing performence by the very talented Al Pachino (The Godfather Trilogy, Heat).
The saporting cast which included Michelle Phifer, Steven Bouer, F. Murry Abrahms, and Robert Logia was also exceptionally good. What i felt made the film so good, was that it was such a reallistic film (at certin points anyway's...), and
the action was all there (it wasn't godfather or once
upon a time in america...which were both great movies no
question...)...and the very over the top performances
were able to keep your attention going. so see this film...it must be seen...trust me,
you won't be disapointed.

Summary: "Say Hello" to this overrated flick
Review: Brian De Palma's "Scarface" is a violent, expletive-filled bloodfest that, in the years that have passed since its 1983 release, has attained a cult-like following, especially with the gangsta-rap community. It's unfortunate to think that no film in recent memory
has had a more negative effect on the society of America, especially the younger generation, than "Scarface". Yet the 20th anniversary edition DVD seems to celebrate it, with a segment featuring hip-hop performers talking about how much the film has influenced their lives and the music they make because of it. The film itself is marginally above average, saved only by Al Pacino's inspired performance as Cuban refugee Tony Montana, who defects to Miami and gradually gains the status as one of the world's largest cocaine dealers, until his excessive lifestyle does him in at the end. This is the only DVD I have ever had to watch with the subtitles ON, as most of the dialogue, while spoken in English, is generally undecipherable. It also stars a young Michelle Pfeiffer as Elvira, the girlfriend of a rival druglord who eventually marries Pacino's character, though there is not one ounce of believability that she loves the guy- we never really see a courtship between them, then suddenly, one day, they tie the knot. The soundtrack, supplied by Giorgio Moroder, is among the cheesiest I've ever heard, and the story by Oliver Stone(of course)tries to fit way too much into the film's near three hour running time. As a result, the plot feels rushed- of course, one way to tie up all the loose plot ends is to kill everyone, which is exactly what happens. "Scarface" is not the worst film I've seen, but it's no "Godfather", and what makes it so appealing to gangsta-rappers is something that mystifies me.

Review: Although Scarface is not quit the "Family Movie", It's good because of Al Pacino's charactor Tony Montana. A down and out man moves to America from Cuba to make something of himself and to make money. He calls himself a " Political Refugee" and while in America, he gets cought up in the cocaine business. Friends die, he finally meets his family. To sum up the first part of the movie,he's dedicated to doing what he is told and will NOT screw any1 over...So, I want YOU to buy it and review the rest of it and promote the Movie!

Summary: Outstanding box set
Review: 3 discs in the box, 2 for the 1983 Scarface, 1 for the 1932 Scarface. I had seen the 1983 film many times, so I dived right into the 1932 version before I watched the 1983 version. Wow. While the 32 film is much shorter, it is every bit as good as the 83 film. Both films deal with the same basic thing, dealing in illegal drugs in fierce competition areas, booze in Chicago during Prohibition, and coke in Miami in the late 70s and early 80s. The first movie was more of less a propaganda movie, but an excellent piece of propaganda. The difference between the 2 movies is the 32 film asks, "What is the government doing about this?" while the 83 film just shows the excess of it all. Great set, and a great gift from a very good friend of mine.

Review: Scarface is the TRUTH. It is the greatest movie ever created! Al Pacino did an amazing job acting. Even though he isn't Cuban he could have been mistaken for one. I urge the whole world to watch this movie. If not for the action and violence, then watch it for the many lessons that you will learn watching this Classic.

Summary: The Best Movie Ever
Review: This is the best movie Al Pacino has ever been in, if not the best movie I have ever seen! Everyone has to see this movie. The acting is amazing from the first scene when Tony (Pacino) is being questioned. Scarface is a constant thrill ride as we watch Tony go from a funloving immigrant from Cuba rapidly turn into a complete disaster. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Pacino's love interest and she is absolutely gorgeous in the movie. Scarface was one of her first movies. If you are a Pacino fan you HAVE to see this powerful movie.

Review: "Me? I want what's coming to me... The world, Chico--and everything in it." - Tony Montana "Scarface" was a box-office flop when it first came out and was literally trashed by almost every film critic that you can think of. Many years later, it's considered a classic and some say it's one of the most influential gangster movies to ever to be made. There's real power that cannot be denied that is held within this amazing masterpiece that has one of the highest replay values I've ever experienced. I can NEVER get tired of this outstanding gangster epic, and it is a grand event that stands out from most crime sagas--and most films althogether. Tony Montana came to America with nothing, with the exception of a dream to become a somebody; a successful and powerful somebody. He turns to a life of crime and slowly but surely becomes a well-established gangster. However, Tony becomes greedier and more consumed with power as the days go by, and it's only a matter of time before he starts to want it all. His "wanting it all" leads him to his ultimate demise that will consume his fate. This is a story about starting with nothing and then having everything--only to lose it all in then end. Words cannot even begin to describe how passionately I feel about this movie. This is a crime saga that has layers of character and story. It isn't just a senseless bloodbath with mindless violence around every corner. No, this movie has a certain path and structure. Al Pacino literally makes the role of "Tony Montana" his own and never loses sight of it for a second. I can't think of another character that is "impersonated" in the real world more than Pacino's "Tony Montana." The film is brilliantly written by Oliver Stone (who deemed this movie as his farewell to cocaine), and is perfectly executed by director Brian DePalma. This film had an amazing cast and crew behind it, which made it the success that it is today. This Two-Disk Anniversary Edition is fully packed with some great extras. One of the main things that is so great about the DVD is the incredible audio and picture transfer that is COMPLETELY superb in contrast with the older version. While it's easier to note the difference in picture with a bigger (and perhaps even a widescreen) television, you should still be able to tell the difference and come to the conclusion that this new transfer is much better than the original. Extra features included are deleted scenes, documentaries, a "TV Version" montage that is absolutely priceless, and a hip-hop feature that shows interviews with some of today's hottest rappers and how they deem this movie as a "ghetto classic." While the DVD could've had a few more extra features, it is in no way disappointing. "Scarface" is a timeless classic that seems to get bigger and bigger as the years roll by. It's a rare breed of film that can never be duplicated in a successful manner. I find it truly amazing how a film started off so weak when it first came out only to become the legend that it is today. If you have not seen it yet, I highly recommend that you give it a viewing as soon as possible. It is, and forever will be, one of my absolute favorites.
