Summary: Brutal economy
Review: A wonderful, albeit harsh, depiction of the classic "American Dream". An immigrant from Cuba ruthlessly pursues the things we hold out as "success". Money, power, women.. all while working through the "free market". It's just that in this case it's Peruvian flake and not junk bonds.

A scarey aside; this was the movie that key dealers in L.A. were obsessed with in the hieght of the crack epidemic (see the book Dark Alliance by Gary Webb)

Summary: The best Mob film ever, Pacino at his best !
Review: Al Pacino has made many mob films eg. The Godfather, Calito's Way, etc. none of these films or any other mob film can come even close to this masterpiece by Brain de Palma. "The World is yours........."

Summary: This is the greatest film of all time!!!
Review: Oh, my Goodness. Where has this movie been all my life?! Ladies and gentlemen...I purchased this movie last August and I haven't gone through a week without watching it!!! I have seen this well over 100 times!!! Brian DePalma has done it again. This wonderful movie is about Tony Montana (played with uncanny ability by the wonderful Al Pacino), a political prisoner from Cuba who came to the U.S. to escape from Fidel Castro's harsh revolution in Cuba. When Tony arrives in the U.S. (with his best buddy, Manny), he gets a lousy job as a dishwasher. But then, as fate would have it, a couple of drug-dealing coke-heads give a job to him and Manny to go pick up some cocaine at some guy named "Hector the Toad's" bordeda (whatever that is). So they go there to get the stuff, a couple of curses, an arguement, a chainsaw in the head, gunshots, yadda yadda yadda...Tony is now a full-blown drug dealer! Yay! After doing a few jobs for his boss, Frank Lopez, Tony starts to do things his way and Frank doesn't like it. After Frank tries to kill Tony, Tony retaliates by killing Frank off and low and behold...Tony is now riding high as the cocaine king of Miami! He also marries Frank's old girlfriend, Elvira Hancock (played outstandingly by a young Michelle Pfeiffer). Well...she's a crackhead but it's all good! As long as Tony has "the money, the power, and then the woman," nothing can stand in his way. But unfortunately for Tony, all good things must come to an end. Tony starts to get high on his own supply (which is a thing you shouldn't do according to the late Frank Lopez). He starts to screw up and do stupid things. His relationship with Elvira is a wreck, his friends are all petrified of him, and even Manny has a violent twist of fate courtesy of Tony's itchy trigger finger and bad temper. Then the end of the movie begins, and the end you gotta see for yourself cause it's the greatest 10 minutes ever filmed in cinematic history! This is the film which coined the phrase, "Say hello to my little friend." Wait until you see what the little friend can do! Okay, I have really said too much so if I were you, I would buy this movie!!! It is the greatest movie ever!!!

Summary: One of the greatest movies of all time
Review: Pacino's performance in this film is probably the greatest of all time. I also am totally in love with the movie's soundtrack (the music and how it is perfectly adapted to the scenes). I think Mr. Malton(sp) should review this film again (as should many critics). It's obvious that if it were released today it would get great reviews. 1983 was a different time. But as with all great movies, they ARE ahead of their day. Scarface is probably the biggest reason I'm a huge movie fan. The Godfather helps too (As does Gone with the Wind, Spartacus, Schindler's List, Starwars, The Right Stuff, Platoon, All Quiet on the Western Front (TV MOVIE EDITION), The Deer Hunter, Apocalypse Now, Laurence of Arabia, and Enter the Dragon)
