Summary: Jason Scott Lee is the best!
Review: I saw Dragon in the theater for the first time just after it was released. As a long time Bruce Lee fan (Kato rocks!), I was mesmerized by this movie. The music is moving and the visual effects are stunning. Even though the movie may have dramatized some of the facts from Linda's book, I feel that it captured the essence of Bruce's life and his marriage to Linda. I also feel that Jason Scott Lee is an outstanding actor and his performance was flawless. He deserves more leading roles and I hope to see him in more movies. I have probably watched this movie 20 times over the last 10 years and I still love it. I highly recommend this movie to everyone . . . don't miss it!

Summary: A very inspiring movie
Review: an EXCELLENT movie. Morally inspiring and emotionally moving. I don't like most movies, or do I find most movies emotional, but this is an exception.

This movie's impression on me will last forever. I would go so far as to say this is my all time favorite. I would give it more stars if I could. A definite 5 Star !

I thought this film depicted bruce pretty good, Jason Scott Lee is a GOOD actor who portrayed Bruce to the best he could considering Bruce Lee would be a very difficult role to play to a "T".

Summary: Utter Crap: And heres why
Review: I have no idea why they didnt bother to make this film better but it baffles me. I've read much of his books and I've been a ameteur fighter before, so naturally I look at everything to see what every style has (yes I understand Bruce Lee claimed in his time to have no style). Though at times reading the Tao of Jeet Kune Do is a bit difficult to understand because there is a huge mix of philosophy with really rugged artwork and it's not your most organized work. I've also looked through his other volumes. I even bought a lot of his documentaries to watch his form and study is sparring matches (yes hes fairly quick). I study all the Ultimate Fighting matches over and over again relentlessly and Pride Fighting relentlessly. I've studied much of the great boxers and watched their fights over and over again to watch how they fight. I even during the days I did train for ametuer fights had the pleasure to train with some of the Oklahoma State University wrestlers and attended Brazilian Juijitsu competitions and studied some Muay Thai and Boxing. So those of you who question my knowledge of fighting (and no I do not claim to be the best or know it all but I do know what I am talking about and I when talking about fighting I am more than welcome to talk to anyone on the planet of this earth about fighting because I am open to everything even Kung-fu).

Ok now heres why this movie is junk. The story is an innacurate depiction of Bruce Lee. I am not talking about how he hurt is back in the film because I believe it was really because he hurt his back weight training. But then again it wouldnt have made an interesting film. Thats just hollywood trying to make it interesting and that's fine. The actor Jason Lee really sucks. His animal calls during his fights are just embarrassing. He puts through a lackluster Disney acting that just made my head shake. I think I rolled my eyes everytime he did the weak animal calls. Secondly, he looks like a dumb chicken when he is doing the fight depiction, wailing like a girl. DO IT RIGHT WHEN YOU DEPICT SOMEONE!!!!!!! Will Smith did it right in the movie Ali (the film Ali came out wrong but that's the director's fault, he was a bit too somber but nevertheless Will Smith did a fantastic job depicting Ali). Ok now back to Bruce Lee. Jason Lee was so SLOW!! My wife punches with more ferocity and energy than that lackluster oaf. Ok secondly he didnt even sound like or look like Bruce Lee. His acting was simply unbelievable and I almost cried or laughed whichever was more convenient.

Now for the part of the film I've never figured out. Bruce Lee is fighting this demon in the end with nunchuks correct? And he ends up kicking and hitting the demon in the throat and wins. What I dont understand is Bruce Lee dies in real life, some say it's because of a curse which I'm thinking is because the film uses the demon thing to show the effect of him dying to. But he beats the demon which I dont understand because he dies at the age of 32 (some books say 33 but either one it's still young). The movie just does not make sense. The acting is junk, the coreography is utter trash, the story makes no sense and does a diservice to Bruce Lee.

My Review:

Story: F-
Directing: F--(deserves 2 minuses)
Acting: F--- (deserves 3 minuses)
coreography: F--
Rolling eyes factor: A++

I do not recommend this movie at all. I might as well wipe my behind with it and still it's not even good for that.

Watch Bruce Lee documentaries. Watch his old films. Read his books and philosophy. Trust me you learn a lot more.

THE END.

Summary: Good Addition
Review: This movie is a good addition to the many works made to outline Bruce Lee's life. I think it is a complete and well flowing movie. It has action, drama, and realism. Many people critique on how it is not an accurate story line, but no one truely knows the real life of Bruce. The movie is not exact, but it is not far fetched either. I think true Bruce Lee fans will like it no matter what, because it is different from other movies of it's kind and it offers different views witch provides variety and this is good because it creates another perception for people. Overall I liked the movie and I think any fan of the "The Man The Myth The Legend" will enjoy it for its additon to the may tributes.

Summary: Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story NOT A BIOGRAPHY
Review: If you're looking for a biography of Bruce Lee -- you will not get it from the movie. 95% of the movie is fake. If you were looking for an action movie with martial arts thats pretty good Dragon is something you should watch.

The movie starts with Bruce Lee's father leading us to a young Bruce Lee, which leads us to believe he was an only child which is not true at all. He had many siblings. It is also mistaken that his family was poor - also not the case. When he is shown down in the bowels of a freighter going to "Land of Opportunity" that is also fake. He was on a passenger liner, albeit not first class it was still like a "cruise ship."

He also didn't take Wing Chun kung fu to fight his inner demons... it's because he was punk kid who got into alot of trouble and he needed it to defend himself from other punks.

The scene where he is fighting to be able to teach the non-chinese although real was not fought in a secret cave as the filem indicates, he fought it in his own school as a teacher named Wong Jack Man (his name is mentioned in the film) challenges him. He didn't get his back broken from a kick in the fight. He had back problems from lifting weights...

This is just to mention the baloney supposed biography in the film. If you're interested in really knowing who Bruce Lee really was you can get a few good documentaries and you can also read the book that inspired it by Linda Lee (Caldwell).

Summary: Inspirational
Review: Jason Scott Lee really should have gotten more attention for his performance as Bruce Lee. "Dragon" shows a side of Bruce Lee that is seldom seen in his movies. Lee is presented as a man full of insecurities and disappointments. It his heartbreaking to see the main role in "Kung Fu," a series conceptualized by Lee, go to David Carradine because Lee was too ethnic for mainstream American television. Bruce proves to be a resilient person in adversity. Lee was unwilling to allow assumed limitations to prevent him from reaching his goals.

Summary: You'll love it, even if you're not a martial arts fan
Review: Jason Scott Lee and Lauren Holly star in this wonderful biography of martial artist and action film star, Bruce Lee.

The story opens in Hong Kong, as Bruce Lee is forced to flee to America, to avoid gang retribution. He meets his future wife, Linda (Lauren Holly), and their love story is quite touching. They marry, despite her prejudiced mother (well-played by Michael Learned), and have two children. A near-fatal fight results in paralysis, but Lee bravely recovers and regains his full strenghth and a wide reputation as a martial arts superstar.

He starts his acting career on television as Kato in The Green Hornet, and is soon starring in Chinese action films in Hong Kong. His dream of returning to America as a star almost comes true: He makes Return of the Dragon, an American movie, filmed in Hong Kong. Tragically, he dies as a result of a mysterious coma, only weeks before the film's premiere, at the age of 32.

Jason Scott Lee is so charismatic and likeable here, that you simply cannot take your eyes off of him. He is equally adept at action scenes and love scenes, and even if you don't like martial arts films, you will like this movie very much. Lauren Holly has her best role to date as Linda Lee, strong, supportive, and courageous wife and mother. The script is excellent.

This is a fascinating movie about a bigger-than-life man. From childhood, he was haunted by visions of an attacking demon. He bravely faced his fears, as well as racial prejudice and jealousy in his martial arts colleagues. Most of all, he wanted to bring his culture to Americans, and that he certainly did. This is a heartwarming film about love and courage; I highly recommend it.
