Summary: Good work by Tommy Lee & Ashley!
Review: I saw this movie last Halloween at my dad's fiancée's house, and I loved it! It REALLY kept me on the edge of my seat! I thought Tommy Lee (Jones) and Ashley (Judd) dazzled as Travis Lehman and Libby Parsons. DOUBLE JEOPARDY has it all. Mainly, it's full of suspense. My favorite quote of this film is, "Show's over! Go to sleep!" I thought that Libby (Ashley Judd) looked VERY beautiful in the fancy Armani dress she wore at the bachelor's auction in New Orleans. An excellent and suspenseful movie, I give DOUBLE JEOPARDY three out of four stars.

Summary: Oh Please!
Review: This movie had a ridiculous premise! First, poor wifey, played by Ashley Judd, is accused and convicted of killing her missing husband, whose body they never found! Cmon' you mean to tell me she was convicted with circumstantial evidence!? Then after she spends a couple of years in jail, stewing over what actually happened, one of her cellmates tells her "Hell, y'all should go out and find and kill your husband cause' you can't be accused of killin' him twice!" So eventually she breaks out of jail and intends to find her missing husband so she can kill him! Needless to say, Tommy Lee Jones is hot on her trail. She follows a trail of evidence that her supposedly dead hubby left behind and finally catches up with him, but soon Tommy Lee Jones catches up with her, and get this, he begins to believe her story that her husband is still alive! (Why, we'll never know). Once both Tommy Lee and Ashley (I forget the characters' names) catch up with her lousy husband it just gets beyond ridiculous. Ashley tries hard to be serious, but it's almost laughable. Tommy Lee puts in his usual tough guy with a heart performance (been there, done that). The best part of the film is the dead/alive husband played by Bruce Greenwood who does an excellent job at playing the villain (it's a shame that he's not it it more, it's the best part of the film). The movie's plotline is flimsy and the acting (except Bruce, which is why I gave it 2 instead of 1 star) is sub-par. This is pretty much a dull revenge flick with not many suprises.

Summary: Average
Review: I wouldn't say this movie made me think. It pretty much is just a straight forward story. I was able to guess what was going to happen next. However, I still enjoyed the movie. It is predictable especially if you saw the previews.

Summary: Good story!
Review: What I liked about this movie is the shocking story but the acting was not good.

If you know the story of this movie, then there is nothing left to enjoy watching in this film.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Nothing Special
Review: Double Jeopardy's action scenes are lack-luster, as are the uninspiring characters. Since the movie itself is predictable, there's no point to watch it. Just another film with big name actors to lure your money into their pockets. Nothing special.

Summary: If you loved the trailer, you'll love the movie
Review: I rented this mainly because I like revenge flicks (especially if it's a woman doing the pay-back) and Tommy Lee Jones. Main thing that was a drag: the trailer gives the movie away completely. I mean, the big PAYOFF scene (and line) is even in it! Another reviewer said it best-I felt like after seeing the trailer, I was watching the movie for the second time upon first viewing. Execs have argued, 'well, the trailer got the audience into the theater big time, so there'. That's no excuse...I guess for the execs, it works out great, but for the audience who pay to see a movie and want at least a TINY bit of surprise or suspense and feel let down, it's just not fair.

There were a few good scenes; most not given away ahead of time. My favorite moments were those that were not in the trailer-like the scene in the library when Libby gets hit on. I also liked the scene where Libby finally tracks down her evil husband and stages her first meeting with him for maximum dramatic effect, and is dressed to kill to boot. I loved Judd's two tough prison pals. Tommy Lee Jones is always fun to watch. Even though he played pretty much the same character/storyline as he did in The Fugitive and the sequel, I'm not complaining. The movie is worth a rental, at least, if you are bored. It does entertain and I did find myself rooting for Judd a few times. But again...if you've seen the trailer, you've pretty much seen the movie. I wasn't too impressed.

Summary: Another Great Entry into the "Revenge" Genre.
Review: This film is a Great Thriller, it provides all the required thrills, it has a couple of great action set pieces, Three powerful leads and solid direction. What More Could you ask for in a simple piece of Celluloid.

Ashley Judd looks Determined throughout the entire film, as she is supposed to. Tommy Lee Jones adds more Dimension to his "Fugitive" role, and Bruce Greenwood plays the Hissable Husband.

Bruce Beresford Seems to know the terrain like the back of his hand and he follows the format without making it seem too seen-all-that-before-ish.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I would give it six stars!
Review: I love this movie because it was centered around Libby's sweet revenge. Her ...husband framed her and then wanted to kill her! All I have to say is thank god for the fifth amendment of the constitution.

Summary: Terribly, horribly, awful!
Review: This may be one of the worst movies I've seen in the past year. The script was unrealistic and bordering on silly. How can a woman convicted of murdering her husband be released on parole just a few years later? Then she is free to run around killing others at a whim? I'm sorry, but this poor excuse of a movie should never have been released. It would have saved many 105 minutes of misery.

Summary: A great thriller with superb acting
Review: Since I saw the previews for "Double Jeopardy" when it first came out in theatres, I wanted to see the movie. I finally got to see it and it was a great movie to say the least. A businessman (Bruce Greenwood) cheats death and frames his wife at the same time by making his wife, Elizabeth (Ashley Judd) think that he's dead. The police show up and she's holding the knife with blood on it, so they think that she killed her husband. She goes to jail and something happens which makes her suspect that her husband is still alive. Of course, this makes her want to get out of jail even more so she can try to find her husband and her son. She also hears about something called Double Jeopardy which really puts some suspense in this movie.

"Double Jeopardy" is a great movie and I think it was one of the best movies of 1999. Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee Jones (Travis Lehman, Elizabeth's parole officer) both do a great job of acting in this movie. Their great acting along with the movie's plot and the great suspense make this movie all the more compelling. I recommend anybody who likes great thriller/suspense movies to get "Double Jeopardy." You won't be disappointed.
