Summary: Great movie, great dvd, but where's the music video?
Review: This movie is impressive and is something that i enjoyed. I don't need to tell much about the movie because the other reviews covered it. The dvd is great, even has english dubbed for those who don't want to read for two hours. It also has plenty of extras too. Another thing i was hoping for was the music video because i've never seen that video and just wanted to see it, but its not on the dvd or it is and i can't find it. Other than that its still an impressive film.

Summary: Something Truely Unique
Review: I could judge this film a number of ways. Being a huge martial arts fan, if I had judged this as a martial arts film, I would have been very disappointed. Simply put, the fights are way over-done. They are so exaggerated that the characters look silly and robotic and there is none of the grace and brilliance that can be found in Bruce Lee's better films. I know seeing the characters leaping across the screen is amazing for many but I found it to be simply silly and not very engaging at all.

But if Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, disappoints as a martial arts film, it brilliantly succeeds as an epic fair-tale brought to life on screen. The whole film has a magical yet realistic quality to that is so rarely seen in films. It's like the audience is experiencing a Chinese fable but realizing that there is far more to the story than is written in books (a good example of this is the fact that the main villain is a fat old woman). Heros soar across the screen majestically but still feel human. The cast perfectly exemplify this. They feel like characters ripped from fables but given real feelings and emotions. All the actors do wonderful jobs in their roles.

It's also worth noting just how amazing the cinematography is. In nearly every shot we see another beautiful outlook of China. The fights while over-down are still very well-directed by Ang Lee and are dizzying and amazing at the same time.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a unique film. As a martial arts movie it may be disappointing but as an epic fairy-tail it is un-matched. Director Ang Lee and an strong cast successfully create a living, breathing world of which has never been seen in a film. That alone is worth the price of admission.

Summary: Very good cinematography...
Review: That is all I can say about this film. And the fighting is also somewhat breathtaking, but not as exciting as in The Matrix because the story is not very appealling, did not caught my eye, at all. The weaknesses in this film are the story, the story and the script. It was a nice package but inside there was not much to see.

Summary: Bad, Boring, and Dumb!!
Review: I can't believe how mindless most people are nowadays, this movie is just Bad, Boring and Dumb!!

Summary: Visual poetry # 2
Review: this movie leaves me speechless...usually martial-arts films are deemed schlocky and 3rd rate, but this one is deep! plus it's just cool to look at. not many people i know like foreign films, so i usually watch them alone. they don't know what they're missing. chow yun-fat is much better in this than in "anna and the king." and michelle yeoh just takes your breath away. this was obviously a labor of love for all the partcipants...

Summary: CTHD: Best Picture of the Year 2000
Review: Of course I loved Gladiator - the 2nd best film of the 5 nominees, but my vote for best goes to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. This DVD is a MUST-BUY. Don't bother renting it. I'll be interested in watching it with english dubbed in - that way I can keep my eyes on the action full time - rather than trying to read the subtitles. Ang Lee deserved Best Director (Maybe I'm being biased... I didn't actually see Traffic yet - although Erin Brokovich was good...)

I hear Ang Lee will be directing Brendan Fraser and Liz Hurley in THE INCREDIBLE HULK... Hopefully it will be as incredible as CTHD.

Summary: Crouching plotline, hidden meaning
Review: If you are going to watch this movie for the first time on DVD, go directly to the director's commentary, watch the entire movie that way first, then watch it...with subtitles...it makes a lot mores sense. Otherwise it's all about some Chinese guy who wants to give up being the fastest sword in the East, but can't seem to give his sword away...it keeps getting stolen by some upstart trained by someone who stole the ginsu-master's training manual and trained the sole pupil by only by using the pictures...then it gets really hazy.

Beautiful cinematography though.

Summary: Excellent audio and visual DVD production
Review: Good audio and video DVD reproduction. The audio is crisp and accurately positioned in all 5.1 channels and the color saturation was well done. The technical guys have done a good job for this DVD.

Summary: The Best
Review: One of the best films from china, most of the actors in other films from china just suck at acting. The fight parts were really cool. If you want to buy a really cool movie buy this one.
