Summary: outstanding performance
Review: This movie has 5 major actors/actress in it. Although some were not as big back then but what does that matter. Brad Pitt plays the vampire Louis but is called Louie.Tom Cruise plays Lestra.Together that fed on blood of the humans.Lestra has no problem but Louie does, he fells so guilty by doing this but must to survive. Louie seems to grow apart from Lestra. He wants to leave and get away.Lestra is aware of this so he takes a young child( Claudia who is plays by Kirsten Dunst) and makes her into an 11 yr. old vampire. Louie will never leave her and therefore will never leave Lestra.Together they are a family but Claudia hates Lestra and only wants Louie so what more does she do other then kill the vampire Lestra. Louie and Claudia flee to the countires and end up in Paris. They meet Armand( Antoino Bandareas) Many encounters occur which leaves Louie by himself and in San Fransico where the movie starts and ends.

Summary: A good reason to read the book
Review: I found the film pretty bad. The major problem was that these Hollywood superstars (Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt) are not good actors. The absurd choice of Antonio Banderas for Armand is another Big Hint that the people making this movie didn't care about what they were doing: this was a part for Leonardo DiCaprio or maybe Elijah Wood, perhaps an unknown.

The book, on the other hand, was great. If you need a way to spend the evening with vampires, I strongly recommend the book over the movie.

Summary: Great movie but was is up with the dvd on Chapter 15!?
Review: I agree with someone who mentioned regarding the dvd. Yes, it plays fine and yes it's "dual layer" where there will be a slight pause but the slight pause has the image as if the film was cut in half and put together. The image in the next second is not continous with the image before the "slight pause". It should be "flowing". Brad Pitt tips his hat, next image his arm is down. It's only on Chapter 15 though, but forewarned if you want a perfect movie on dvd because it's not!

Summary: dear God
Review: man this is one of the best movies i have ever seen. Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are great actors and the two together made the perfect pair. After seeing this movie i felt the same way Christian Slater did in the end, oh what I wouldn't give to have been the places Lewi had been and seen the things he did. It left my imagination running for days. Now I want to read the book. And Perhaps the rest of the series.

Summary: Excellent movie from an even better book
Review: This movie was everything I had hoped it would be. It was true to the novel, and it caught all the details that most movies would have missed. Louis is timid, Lestat is rebellious, and New Orleans is just how I imagined it. The cast was excellent: Kirsten Dunst was the perfect sweet/cunning/evil Claudia, and Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise pulled off roles I never imagined they could play. (Thandie Newton has a cameo as a slave -- she was later in M:I2 with Tom Cruise.) Only one thing rang false for me, and that was the casting of Antonio Banderas as Armand.

Anyone who has read the novel knows that Armand a) is seventeen, b) has auburn hair, and c) is Italian. Mr. Banderas is none of these, and his casting was the only detraction from this gloriously evil movie. If you plan to watch *Queen of the Damned* when it comes to theaters, I strongly suggest you watch this one first, and then compare.

***Just a note: at the end, the song playing in the car is the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil." Very fitting.***

Summary: Haunting, mystical vampire movie
Review: What amazes me is what little violence/gore and little scariness this adaptation of Anne Rice's popular 1980s book. It cuts down to the chase and holds true to the tenderness and fascination that Anne Rice's vampire books contain. Tom Cruise cuts down his clean-cut image, dons a long blond wig and does a good job playing the casual Lestat, while Brad Pitt also does an impressionable job as Louis. Both do a commendable job as a screen duo, and both actors need to take on more roles like 'Interview,' instead of an hot-shot sports agent ("Jerry Maguire.") and a guy out to get his lover ("The Mexican.") Roles like these best fit their quiet, pleasing dispositions, and they should do a prequel like "The Vampire Lestat", or maybe one of Anne Rice's standalone recents like "Vittorio The Vampire." Rated R for mild language, sexual content, nudity, and some vampire violence/gore.

Summary: Great movie great DVD
Review: I am not going to add anything about the movie that hasn't already been said here. But I do want to mention there is nothing wrong with this disc like another review has mentioned. The disc is a dual layer format, which requires the DVD player to refocus onto the other layer. This triggers a slight pause in every DVD. Unfortunately is more noticeable on this disc.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: 5 stars for the movie, not for the dvd!
Review: There seems to be a problem on Chapter 15, the image is frozen with a line across it, distorting the image. You won't believe how many times I have returned the dvd, it looks like the studio or manufactor's fault. So a warning for all, there seems to be a problem and I'm not buying this dvd until they(the studio) fixes it! And everyone shouldn't either.
