Summary: DVD is worth the price even if you don't watch the movie.
Review: This could very well be the best disc ever made. As for the movie, either you love it or hate it & no one will change your mind. But it is technically spectacular & the bonus features including hour long History Channel documentaries make it worth the price even if you never watch the movie. The R rating, directors cut is for about 60 seconds of additional war gore that makes the movie a bit more tolerable for those who believe the love story angle is emphasized too much. The only special feature on disc #1 with the first couple hours of the movie could be the most important 2 minutes on any of the 4 discs. It is titled "Why letterbox". Disney gives a short course on how much more you see with those evil little black bars that people dislike. They show everyone that you get more, MUCH MORE, when you get a movie in widescreen. Would that all Disney movies filmed in ws were put on dvd that way...

Summary: Excellent Movie
Review: This movie is one of the best movie in the world! It's scary and very sad. But, i'm sure every family member in your family will enjoy it. But it's not "R". They have the rating wrong. Just so you know. But it's still the best movie. Ben Affleck is at his best in this movie. So see "Pearl Harbor" today!

Running Time: 183 minutes

Summary: A great movie
Review: In Amazon.com's..."spotlight review" they have a woman expressing her wish for a documentary. Tora! Tora! Tora! is pretty darn close. I'm so sick of saying it: if you want a documentary, watch the history channel. "Not historically accurate" is an awful description for this movie and anyone who says that is not seeing the movie for what it is: an extremely good war movie. Instead of looking as to whether or not the Japanese are telling the kids to get down, look at the rest and frankly more important part of the movie. This is one of the most poignant films I've ever seen and to dismiss it as historically inaccurate is unjustifiable. Watch, as the first "spotlight reviewer" did, the movie over again, and try to think about whether or not it matters that the film was historically accurate. If the film has any problems at all, that is a minor, if not nonexistent, problem.

Summary: Better than I expected
Review: I was genuinely suprised at how good Pearl Harbor was, based on the fact that most reviews were negative. I thought the acting was good, especially from Kate Beckensdale and Ben Affleck. How much research and money went into this movie is apparent as you see the magnifecent Pearl Harbor in 1942- and view it being destroyed. Yes, I know more time than was needed was spent on the love story/triangle thing, and that's why this didn't get 5 stars. Basically, I think this is as good as Hollywood gets- at least in direcion and special effects, anyway. The attack scene will blow you away.

Summary: What should have been in theaters
Review: Finally the movie that should have been released in the first place. Many feel the love triangle in the first 90 minutes was horrible to the film. I felt that it was a good fictional starting place to put characters in a historical situation.
Getting to the purpose of the film. "The Attack" this is where I was disappointed in the original politically correct release. The additional footage showed just how brutal and horrific the attack was, and the true emotion that our boys must of been feeling. Tom Sizemore's character calling a Jap pilot a few choice words. The strafing of the sailors in the water and being blown to peices, the body parts on the hospital floor. This tugged at my emotions and made me feel much more like I felt when I saw "Saving Private Ryan". This showed the true brutality of war, within reason, and made you realize the triumph of spirits our grandparents showed. God Bless America.

Summary: could have been great
Review: This movie could have been awesome. The battle scenes are incredible, but the movie is murdered by an over elabrote and drawn out love story that adds about an hour and a half to the movie that could have been used to explore other issues like, THE ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR FOR INSTANCE!

Rating: 3 stars

Summary: Director's cut is one word: AWESOME!!!
Review: The director's cut is the definite version of Pearl Harbor. It won't put you to sleep like the "edited and filled with BS so Mickey Mouse can make money" version. If you want a real war movie with real emotion and realistic battle scenes, for goodness sakes don't even think renting the "so-called edited version" or watching it on STARZ!!! Buy the director's cut. You wont be disappointed.
PS: There is an added bonus which is 12 hours of extras spread out over 4 discs. (Amazon.com needs to update the fact that there are 4 discs instead of 3.)

Rating: 5 stars

Summary: Remember the Fallen
Review: I first saw this movie in the theaters with my grandmother. She was stationed in Hawaii as military nurse when Pearl Harbor was bombed, so this movie has more than just historical value, it has personal value.

The movie recounts the events of Pearl Harbor through the lives of three people, two best friends that are pilots, and one nurse, who they are both in love with.

At times the movie is a bit slow, and the love story a little tedious, but it does not distract too much from the overall film. The action sequences are amazing, with fresh perspectives not seen in any other film in recent memory.

You'll feel American pride at the end of the film, especially with recent events. If you want to get a dose of what it would have been like to be in Pearl Harbor at the time of the raids, then get this movie, sit down, and don't expect to take your eyes away for the next three hours.

This is a great film that I highly reccomend.
