Summary: MOVIE TO LIVE (AND DIE) FOR!
Review: I LOVE this movie. I've got VHS and 2 LDs (AC3 and non-AC3) of it. This movie surpasses the original B&W in all aspects. The highly detail historic background and rich storyline stirs my emotions and wouldn't let go. Daniel is so heroic and the love story is subtle yet powerful. Every moment is a masterpiece. The photographic of the movie is top-notch. You couldn't believe the photographer could make a savage war movie so beautiful. Mann had really planned the pace, script, music and photography marvelously. The frontier is presented like a dream-like world, yet barbaric story is happening in this hauntingly-beautiful place. This movie got an Oscar for best sound and it shows. It is destined to be an epic. This kind of movie is the sole reason we love movies in the first place. I really hope FOX would release the DVD in anamorphic form so I could watch it in my Victor 32MP900 widescreen progressive TV. 5 stars is not enought to express my view.

Summary: One of the best, if not THE best movie ever
Review: This is the sort of movie you can easily watch again and again. I've had the widescreen VHS for a number of years and it's virtually worn out so I was overjoyed to see that the DVD's coming out soon. This is a movie that has been summed up well in the preceding reviews especially with regard to the cinematography, acting, and the fact that you are swept along with the story which is totally engrossing. It makes few concessions to modern ways or language and this is what makes it so authentic. Nothing can prepare you, however, for the music. It matches perfectly the mood of the film at any one time and the CD soundtrack itself is also a more than worthy purchase. Highly recommended!

Summary: One of the Best
Review: I loved this movie. The only thing that bothers me about is the fact that people say it's violent and gory. That's not true. Even when guys do get chopped in the stomach with in axe they don't show much blood. I know someone who hated the movie for the violence. What do you expect, people throwing sticks and pebbles at each other. I'm sure that would of stopped a war. Anyway, I liked this movie. I'm 11 years old.

Review: Bought an expensive DVD player for this title alone! Very dissapointed to see that it's not in DTS :( Why do they release these incredible films but without the sound? Now the question begs to be asked... IS BRAVEHEART SOON TO FOLLOW?? That one needs, absolutely demands DVD attention!

Summary: This movie is the reason I own a DVD player!!!

Summary: at long last ! DVD
Review: This movie... directed by a master - Mann; is my favorite. Ever since I saw my first DVD.. I have been griping about how this wasnt out yet! I own the letterboxed version on VHS... and I cant wait to see the DVD. I have pre-ordered this DVD. This movie is the reason I paid 500 dollars for a DVD player. Does that tell you anything?

Summary: Heart-felt Action like none other
Review: Aside from being visually gorgeous, and historically fascinating, this movie is so thoughtfully acted and executed, you really appreciate the effort and energy that went into creating it. More importantly, this movie brings you to empathize with the character's courage, love, fear and death- essential ingredients that make it one of the best cinematic epics of all time

Summary: EXCITING STORY WITH GREAT SOUNDTRACK
Review: I already own the VHS version and love it. It's the best wild west adventure to come out of the Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone era. The story is truly exciting with authenic storylines of love, revenge and edge of the seat action during the French and Indian War. The VHS soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard and I'm hoping the DVD will be even better. I've been waiting for this DVD to come out since I first watched the VHS edition. This is one of those movies that seems to end too fast. It's so good you'll wish it would go on for a few more hours. You'll want to watch it and hear it again and again.

Summary: Breath-taking...simply wonderful
Review: This movie is impressive. Its deliverance of the way life used to be for early settlers is entirely valid, and it serves to remind us of our historical roots. This rendition of Cooper's classic story is stunningly beautiful, and in the context of movie standards today it deserves to be hailed as a masterpiece. I've seen it so many times I could close my eyes and run the entire movie through my head, almost line by line. Take my advice and watch it, there will be no regrets I promise you.
