Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Sensational, A lasting image that REAL love does exist
Review: I thought the movie was WONDERFUL, 5 Stars and one of the BEST dramas/love stories I have ever seen. The actors were outstanding. The story heartwarming and compelling, it left you satisfied and yet sad, wanting more.. the piano background fit the movie well, if you haven't seen it yet, do so because you'll love it forever.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Avoid at all cost
Review: A turgid dirge of a movie that proves once again that critics who loved this piece of piffle need to have a serious word with themselves.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Overhyped
Review: I give it 3 stars because of good cinematography and good acting. But I expected more from the movie that generated so much hype. All it is a sad story with no point, beautiful wrapper with nothing inside.

Summary: One Of The Best Films Ever Made
Review: Rickly deserved all of the Academy Awards (it really swept that year).

I love this movie, it's definitely one of the best films of the 1990's, and possibly of all time. It is such a rich film, the images so original and dense, the story so compelling and intense, the finale so devastating and extreme. What makes this film different from so many other love stories gone bad is its beauty; at the end you're left exhausted and sad, but not empty. This is one movie that caresses the viewer like its stunning opening shot of the plane gliding over the golden dunes of the desert. The characters are well-rounded, and the entire production is wrapped in a veil of nuance. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and everyone should experience it to feel that much more human.

Summary: Long but well-made film
Review: The English Patient: Is it a classic? Only time will tell. The cinematorgraphy was for more interesting than the two main characters, though I did like most of the actors in the film, (Binoche, Fiennes, Dafoe). The story itself however, left a lot to be desired. For three hours I would have expected more of an understandable ending and the flashback scenes kept weaving in & out like stitches. Worth the rental if you like any of the lead actors or if you just want to see a long cinematic soap opera, but if you're a fan of Seinfeld's "Nothing"-ness you've probably been warned.

Summary: An intense drama capturing forbiddin love during WW2in Italt
Review: An excellent film that truly reveals the ambiance of 2 forbidden British intellectuals, one who believes he is unable to love and the other, loving all beautiful things, set tragically against WW2 with breathtaking cinematography. This film is one to be loved by intelligent, sensitive people who have knowledge of Egypt, ancient books and a love of completely different music genres.I found it aspecially moving listening to Bach one moment, then hearing a Romanian lullaby the next. You must add this to your video library. This brought back memories of "A Passage To India" and also"Dangerous Liasons" with it's layering of the story.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: One either hates it or loves it
Review: The movie's like an emotional roller coaster. Personally I loved it even though it was dragged out for a tad too long. Ralph Fiennes was excellent along with the rest of the cast. The cinemaphotography and the music is beautiful. If one has the patience and the intellegence required to enjoy the film, its a worthwhile experience.

Summary: Garbage
Review: After the Academy Awards in '97, I was eager to rent this it on video. I wanted to see if the film lived up to its awards and to tell you the truth, i was really disappointed. It was a long boring movie full of crap. Not entertaining at all. I don't know how i could have won so many awards.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: THIS MOVIE HAS TO BE THIS GOOD TO SEE.
Review: The English Patient has won 9 Awards. That's as many as The Last Emperor won. I could just never get enough of seeing it. This movie tells a tale, and a fact. Juliet Binoche's solid acting has never been as good as this before. Once you've seen this movie, it'll move you. And if you ever see a movie that wins 9 awards, you'll just want more and more!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: did not like it at all
Review: A movie about some very selfish people and the lives they ruin. About 20 minutes into the movie I had figured everything out, but I had to wait three more hours for it to finally happen. Talk about torture! I suppose if I had liked even one main character it would have been bearable. Sigh.

Don't waste your time on this one.
