Summary: Absolutely banal
Review: I have never seen a more banal film. I'm at a total loss as to how this won Best Picture.

Summary: Who cares about Leonardo DiCaprio guys, you're just jealous~
Review: I don't like Leonardo DiCaprio ( I'm a guy, of course I don't ), but the only excuse that guys have against hating the movie is that Leonardo DiCaprio is in it. It is a great movie! I admit it, I am a member of the popular crowd at my school, but give me a break, the movie is the bomb. I love the special effects, and I don't know how James Cameron came up with that story line. All of the guys at my school say that they hate the movie because of DiCaprio, but that is the lamest excuse alive. It is an awesome movie, and it is very much a sad story. I remember guys laughing in the theatre while I was crying, but that actually happened to people, and you have to understand that. Even though guys think that they hate the movie, I think Leo, Kate, Cathy, Billy, James, Victor, and everyone else in the movie did an awesome job. Two thumbs up guys!

Summary: All Genres and Suitable for everyone
Review: Titanic is my favourite movie of all time. I saw it at the movies approximately 16 times and every time I loved it more. I bought it and still watch it alot when I have ther time. The story isn't just basically about a maiden voyage on the Rms Titanic and it sinking. It is an unforgetbale love story. On the first voyage of the beautiful Titanic on April 10 1912, Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio : The Man In The Iron Mask, Romeo and Juliet) falls head over hells for Rose Dewitt Bekhater (Kate Winslet : Heavenly Creatures) when he wins a trip in a gambling process. As Rose is getting married to creep Cal (Billy Zane) there is love falling around Jack and Rose's head. They go for it, not knowing what is soon about to strike them on the icy cold Atlantic.

Summary: Amazing!
Review: A great epic film. A wonderful tale. Great visual effects. Deserved all 11 oscars. Kate Winslet is magnificent. Better than 'Gone with the wind'!

Summary: OK, here's my two bits....
Review: First of all, I intentionally avoided Titanic (like I did the original and current Star Wars) when it came out in theaters. There's nothing I hate worse than the lemming-like adulation of the ultra-popular. So I didn't see the movie until last November on video. I watched it without any expectations or any need to react to the hype. As the last lemming to go over the cliff, I had the freedom of my own judgement.

So, yes, DiCaprio is not the best actor (but can you, while keeping a straight face, say that Mark Hammill in Star Wars was any better, or even as good?) I found Titanic to be a true epic, in scope and presentation. The romance between Winslett and DiCaprio was not totally convincing, but then was Jabba the Hut? The movie was well paced for its 3+ hour length and the character development was better than average.

The real grabber for me was the realism of the Titanic story itself. When that ship started going down, I really *felt* the horror of that disaster. Intellectually, I knew enough about the Titanic (I did a report on it in 4th grade...back when "Ticket to Ride" was in the top 10), but I had never felt the horror and sadness of it before. When I think of all those people who died of hypothermia in the water and the people trapped below decks...it still affects me. A movie is supposed to make you think or feel; to take you out of yourself and *into* a different experience. If that's the definition of a great movie, Titanic qualifies. When it was over, I felt truly moved in some undefinable way. In sum, Titanic was not the greatest movie of all time; merely the most popular. Still, it was an exceptional movie, and better in all ways than Star Wars, which was over-hyped for no reason at all. I will own a DVD of Titanic (as well as 2001 and Terminator 2...two of my other favorites - go figure), but not of Star Wars. (I poke at Star Wars in response to the Star Wars fans who hate Titanic solely because it out-grossed their favorite film.)

Summary: Well....
Review: The movie itself wasn't as terrible as many people have said. The first thing that got me was the incredible lines between the classes and how they were treated. The movie inspired me to research the actual sinking and learn about the people who were aboard. Of course there's inaccuracies...if Hollywood made a strictly historical movie, who would go see it? Not that large masses that saw Titanic. The best scenes were when the mother was putting her children to sleep and the old couple were lying on their bed while the water rushed in. The most powerful of the movie and I applaud Cameron for those. HOWEVER... I would just like to add one little note about the movie that I think missed a lot of people's attention. This was an actual event. 1,500 people died in the North Atlantic in April of 1912. I sat with girls at the movie who cried when Jack died, not when frozen bodies were floating in the water. If you could sit through this movie more than once, I'm amazed. I came out of the theater thinking about all the ones that died, not the stupid love story involved in the flawed plot. The people that watched this movie for the sheer love story make me sick. Stop being a romantic and realize that the entire second half of that movie (long, but Cameron wanted to make it in "real-time.) was an ACTUAL event. If you cried you're little heart out when Rose let Jack go into the water and are wearing the imitation "heart of the ocean" pendant, you obviously missed a very large and real part. Use this movie as an oppurtunity to remember the innocent people who were killed and not as a fantasy of Leonardo.

Summary: One of the best movies of all time
Review: I would have to say that this movie has got to be one of the best and saddest movie I have ever seen. It will make you see how beautiful the ship was. It is a real tearjerker.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: great visual effects, so-so story
Review: The film will get a 5 star plus for visual effects. However, the plot is silly and pretty far-fetched. I was expecting to shed some tears during the viewing, yet I slept right until the ship sank (then the movie began to get interesting). This movie is No Casablanca, Gone with the wind, or Citizen Kane, or Once upon a time in America. Not even close.
