Summary: This film is all about FXs
Review: I didn't see this movie in the theatre as I was urged to...I decided to wait until the DVD version. I'm glad I didn't spend my hard earned money on this turkey. I will say from the outset that this is a beautiful looking film, but that is as far as it goes. Perhaps if I were a 12 year old girl I might think it was great, but I am a grown woman who can't for the life of me imagine what is so wonderful about Leo! No story here. Of all the wonderful real-life stories that must have taken place on this ship, why try and fabricate one? And a bad one at that! The earlier Hollywood version of "Titanic" with Barbara Stanwyck & Clifton Webb, as well as the British version "A Night To Remember" are both far superior to this attractive trash.

Summary: All Acting is Great especially L Dicaprio
Review: Although this is not the best movie of all time but this is definately a good movie. All the acting in this movie is great especially L Dicaprio. When I read the reviews in this board, I found many people critize on Leo. I think is not fair for him. I remember Cameron said "To be charming and charismatic every moment on the screen is a much bigger challenge than acting a physical or mental affliction". And Leo did it. Frankly speaking, Kate's character in this movie is the most appealing. More appealing than Leo's character. But when Titanic hit the theatre, all people's reaction are the same. All the attention was drawn by Leo. Remember, Leo was not famous then so people bought no bias when they came to see. Moreover, Titanic hit the world's theatre at the same time and the feed back of all country was more or less the same.

I came to watch this movie 4 months after it hit the theatre. Before that, I heard somebody said how gorgeous Leo is but I did not feel the same as I saw his picture on magazine. He was not charming on those picture. But when I went into the theatre to see his acting, it was a different story. He was charming on screen. He brought life to the character.

For those who said Leo can't act, please watch his every movie. He is a different person in each film. He become the character. This is the highest level or acting skill.

Summary: Very Cheesy
Review: I have to say that this movie is not very good. The "romance" between Leo and Kate is laughable. Throughout the movie I felt that the this relationship was rather odd. How old is Leo? 14? and Kate is how old? 40? The only redeeming point of this movie is when the boat sank. That was an amazing scene.

Summary: One of THE best DVD Transfers
Review: This has to be one of the best DVD transfers I have ever seen. The stunning clarity of video is accompanied by forceful sound effects and one of the best music scores written for a film. Everyone knows the story so there's not much point going in to that. A must buy, for the transfer at the very least.

Review: when i went to see it for the first time i was skeptical. I was blown away by the special effects , music, sound of the movie. I think that this is one of the best movies of all time.

Summary: Hollywood rewrites history again
Review: I only picked one star because I couldn't have 0. This was the most irritating, offensive piece of crap I have ever had the misfortune to sit through. Yet another example of directors screwing about with history for "dramatic" purposes although the so-called drama in this doesn't get more trite. 600 people who died from the Titanic came from my home-town alone - no they weren't first class passengers, they were engineers and firemen and other working classes. James Cameron has insulted their memory by portraying every English person who was on that boat as incompetent, snobby and ignorant. Evidently the English were too busy oppressing the Irish on the boat to notice the bloody iceberg. I was shaking by the end of this film. But not with tears, it was more like anger. James Cameron apparently made dives down to the wreck for authenticity (that's a laugh). He should've stayed there.

Summary: HATS OFF TO HORNER!!!! GIVE US THE 4-HOUR DVD VERSION!!
Review: I've managed to sit and read through at least a hundred of these reviews so far, and thought it was time to finally put in a word myself. This may not be the best movie all time, but it is nevertheless ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC and one of the very few one can indeed sit through over and over again!! I might say Ben-Hur is actually a better film, but seeing it once every year or two is more than enough. Star Trek (especially Next Generation) are my all-time favorites, but still not as watchable as TITANIC. This movie is gripping enough to keep you riveted to the screen even if you watch it every week! I saw it at least a half a dozen times at the theatre, and no idea how many times I've actually watched it at home. I think Leonard DiCapprio was alright, no objections to him anyhow. (I am a female, by the way.) Who really knocked me out was Kate Winslett!! Sure, the acting was a bit weak in a few spots, and Cameron had her doing some actions (like flipping the finger) that I could not in a million years imagine a girl of her station doing. But, the panic on her face after the hall lights went out, the play of emotions rendered so exquisitely as she realized Jack was gone... this girl deserves all the praise she gets. First officer Will was equally spectacular, but no one seems to notice him. Cal, of course, even callous as he is, well, now, there's a real man. Many fine actors, many fine small details and small moments out of people's lives as the great ship went down are what made this a great film. I've seen all four Titanic movies available from Amazon. For any Titanic fan, I highly recommend the version with BARBARA STANWYCK. She was a bit before my time, so this was the first movie I'd seen her in, and I was KNOCKED OUT by her. This version has a mature couple as its centerpiece, in a marriage about to crumble. It brings a whole other dimension of understanding to what really happened on that fateful night. The TV version with now-famous Catherine Zeta Jones was overall disappointing with some dreadful scenes. But still, the costuming was superb, the music OK, and two of the scenes had me crying even harder than Camerons' version. BUY THEM ALL if you really want to understand the Titanic, an island of humanity destined for a tragic fate, and how other human directors at different times viewed them as well. Back to the Cameron version.... Of course, the special effects were SPECTACULAAR. Anyone who has any complaints is either watching with a professional eye or so damned critical that they know how to take no enjoyment out of life. Pitiful souls all of them! The photography, angles, colors, all were fantastic. What more can be said? Tried to get a few photography tips for myself from the movie. Last, but not least James Horner is the most underrated and unsung hero of this movie. I adore the movie, all right, but I probably wouldn't have managed to sit through it more than 3 or 4 times if it weren't for the ABSOLUTELY DIVINE score Horner produced!! There must be a God if man can produce something this gorgeous!! I've nearly worn out my video version of the movie, and have the CD score that I listen to quite often as well... full blast, of course. I REALLY want to get this movie on DVD but am waiting for the 4-hour director's cut and for a DVD worthy of the movie. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, MR. CAMERON, MAKE IT SO, AND QUICKLY!!!!

Summary: A beautiful, inspiring movie
Review: I resisted seeing this movie until it was on HBO. Even then, I only watched a few minutes at a time, while channel surfing other movies. It seemed to take forever for that boat to sink. The next time it was on, I watched a little more. I finally sat down and watched the whole thing. It's a moving, inspiring story, simple yet universal. I am in awe of James Cameron's ability to present the details of the Titanic disaster with such stunning accuracy and beauty. Even the blue-green color of the water in the flooded corridors, lit by the electicity which the selfless boiler-room workers kept running until the very last moments, was accurate. This is a keeper.

Summary: Fare enough
Review: This a question of taste. Some of you can like this film, some of you not. I dont like the romantic type, but anyway, effects are great. Everyone can enjoy this movie, cause of romantics, or cause of watching effects... It depends on you.
