Review: Reading some of these reviews has really burned me up. I agree with the viewers that said: All teenagers watched this for is the song and the actor- I think that was a crime. I'm a history lover, and think Titanic was a great way to open people's eyes to the tradgedy that really occured. (To be honest, I wouldn't be very interested in the tradgedy now if I hadn't seen the film, but I can honestly say that I appreciated alot more than a song and one of the lead actors!) I also agreed with the viewer that was opposed to the car scene near the end of the first half. I'm all for holding on to old fashioned morals and values and think that this scean was uncalled for. In fact, I would like to catch this on television some time, so I can watch a version with this cut out! (it would have been more romantic if he had purposed, instead of what happened, in my opinion). I'm a twelve year old, and recent the statment that the only reason a twelve year old girl would watch this was to drool over the actor! If my opinion on this be told, I thought that there where afew actors in that film , a sight more handsom then Decamprio, but his acting was good. You are all entitled to your opinions, but so am I, and I think this movie was great. It's one of my top favorites!

Summary: My opinion (part 2)
Review: ... I figure Cameron uses these things as devices to bring modern audiences into a story they normaly wouldn't be too concerned with (we all knew how it ended before we even went in to see it). Truthfully, the broader these characters are drawn the easier it is to relate to them, to slip into their shoes and experience the real story. The real story being the sinking of the ship. How many people can't relate to the story: Men know what it's like to long for the unatainable woman, women know the desire to leave a stiffleing relationship, and everyone knows the rush of new love (I'll go out on a limb and theorize that the latter, more so then just Leonardo DiCaprio is what attracted such a strong young female audience). You've got action, spectacle, drama, tragedy, romance, historical resonance. Just considering how well his screenplay keeps the viewer involved is an impressive accomplishment. Just a look at the number of positive reviews submitted from other countries gives an idea of how universal this story is. For some to suggest that the fact this movie made so much money is a sign of how low our standards have slipt is egotistical at best. For some to state that it is a standard Hollywood movie is just plain wrong, Hollywood hasn't made a big budget period peice in thirty years, nevermind a three hour long one where nothing realy happens 'til the middle. Yes it was a tearjerker, but a tearjerker in the midst of an actual tragedy. James Cameron took a huge risk with this movie, one no other director in Hollywood would even consider, and his gamble paid off, so for him to feel like "The King of the World" is justified and deserved. Titanic is a monumental achievement.

Except for that damn Celine Dion (yech!)

Review: It's nice to see that this film not only is the largest grossing of all time, but has spurred the most debate of all time. I won't bother to restate what has already been said. If you're one of the few that has not seen this movie, suffice it to say, it's silly, it's startling, and will succeed in entrancing all but the most close-minded of individuals.

Summary: The best movie ever made
Review: Titanic was hyped up a hell of a lot, but it was worth all of it. It was a great standard of movie watching. The film touched every emotion. Love, heart ache and sorrow. Some people thought that it was boring in the beginning and was waiting and hoping for the ice burg to hit, but I think that the way the film was structured was very clever because it showed the normal lives they were living and then suddenly they were all panic strucken and ready to die. When I watched the film for the first time I knew straight away that I was going to buy the film when it came out on video, and I did. Whatever anyone says about Leo I think he is an excellent actor. He is put down by all the jelous boys out there who want all the girls to love them instead of Leo. Well lads Leo has the spot light and a lot of girls hearts so get over it. He is wicked and he deserves every bit of fame and fortune.

Summary: Ishtar moves up one spot
Review: If I am not mistaken, Ishtar was previously voted the worst movie ever made. I am glad to announce that it no longer holds that bottom spot. Leonardo and Kate couldn't act if the god of acting gave them a personal invitation. Do gun fights really occur as a ship is sinking to the depths of the icy ocean? Could more money be wasted on meaningless special effects? Three and a half hours in the dentist's chair would certainly be more pleasant and entertaining than this piece of emotional flatulence. I went to see this movie with my girlfriend because she wanted me to. Needless to say, she's not my girlfriend anymore.

Summary: Probably the most overrated movie of all time
Review: Sitting though this movie was agonizing. Not only is it waaaaaay too long, but it suffers from too many shortcomings to list. Its' only redeeming feature was the special effects (which were very impressive). (Sort of like Twister, but THREE HOURS LONG!!) The characters were shallow and unbelievable. I can only imagine how poorly this movie would have fared at the box office if it didn't have Leo DiCaprio in it!

Summary: This is a cartoon, right?
Review: Everything sucks. The iceberg looked fake. The acting would be laughable if it weren't so earnest. The story isn't even a story. Any episode of "Scooby Doo" has a better (and more unpredictable) storyline. It's a tragic shame that so many people have wasted so many hours watching it. Glad to see there's a lot of negative reviews here; gives me hope in human intelligence.

Summary: This is the worst movie I have ever seen.
Review: I have had an uneasy feeling for some time that filmgoers are not interested in history, which would doom the lavish period epics I love and which must draw huge crowds to be profitable. Even being set in the past seems to hurt a classic movie. James Cameron cast aside the fascinating, true story of the Titanic, to tell a fictional tale about a young woman in love with a freespirited bohemian artist (oh brother). He doesn't try to evoke the time period. The main character doesn't act like a woman of that time period, and nearly all the supporting characters seem unlike real people of any time period. Winslet and Stuart are dreadful, charmless and the script defeats all the other performers with the exception of two of my old favorites, David Warner and Bernard Fox. James Horner, who did the marvelous score for Braveheart, offers negligible help, and the huge budget can't make the sinking as exciting as it was in the infinitely superior A Night To Remember. If I had written the scene in which Rose and Cal discuss Picasso, I would be deeply ashamed. With this much money, Hollywood once made Cleopatra, a flawed movie, but one which at least looks expensive and boasts classy actors like Richard Burton, Roddy McDowell and John Hoyt. The succcess of this movie is depressing.
