Summary: I love Titanic, both the ship and movie
Review: Most people who say they are in love with "Titanic" are refering to James Cameron's masterpiece movie. But I'm not like them. I remember in 1st grade when our teacher was reading to us from a book about a great big ship named the "Titanic." I don't remember much about that book, but I remember just being in amazement of this big ship and how unsinkable it was, but it sunk. It was so neat and as soon as I could I got my hands on that book I did and I couldn't believe all the pictures of people in fancy dresses and suits boarding the ship and all the splendor, and then turning the page and seeing an artist's rendition of the horror that night just made me in awe. And then 2 years ago when I saw an advervisement for a movie named "Titanic," I knew I just had to see it. And it was everything I expected it to be and even more. My recomendation is to see this movie if you haven't already, and if you don't understand it, come to me. I know every line.

Summary: The Big Ship Finally Comes To The DVD Dock!
Review: After over a year of wait the DVD consumers have finally gotten their chance to get James Cameron's materpiece TITANIC on DVD! By now everyone nows the story of TITANIC so I'm not going to bore anyone with telling it all over again. But for those that haven't seen the movie, or don't know much of the story I will say that Cameron works his writing wonders with this movie once again, the same way he has with T2 and True Lies. The movies keeps you wanting more. As far as the DVD goes the video is amazing, for a non-anamorphic transfer of the film anyway. The film is presented in its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio and as I stated above the movie has never looked better. As far as the sound on the DVD, the Dobly Digital 5.1 Surround soundtrack truly rocks the house, and when the Titanic sinks you will feel like your house is sinking along with it. It is truly a soundtrack that has to be hear to be believed. As far as the Special Features go there is only the original theatrical trailer, which is in widescreen and very entertaining, along with some very nice animated menus. It should be noted that Paramount has started work on the big Special Edition of TITANIC for DVD, and that version should be out either sometime next year or in 2001. That version will contain the many Special Features that people were hoping for on this disc. So in short this DVD is really good, and is worth the money if you liked the movie. It looks better than any other version of the film and really shows the kind of picture DVD can do, it puts the VHS to shame in so many ways that you will never want to watch the VHS version again. Plus you don't have to change tapes in order to watch the whole movie, the DVD contains the entire movie on one Dual Layer side! Don't miss this great movie and amazing transfer.

Summary: Following the Masses...
Review: I truly believe that an entire year's worth of hype and controversy, and not to mention a few hundred thousand teenage girls, have almost completely destroyed everyone's true perception of this movie. I believe that if this film were to have been released 30 or 40 years ago, virtually everyone on this planet and thier mothers would have adored it initially and would have continued to perceive it as the most enjoyable film they had ever seen. How many people out there (who saw "Titanic" within it's opening week or two) can honestly say that thier opinions never changed from the moment they viewed the closing credits until now? Now that everyone and thier mothers have had a year's worth of merchandising, marketing, and a certain egotistical award winning director shoved down thier throats, who can seriously blame anyone from thinking the way they do about this film? The point of all this is that there was a time, not so long ago, before television, computers, and video/DVD that great films were judged on the quality of the film, not just how many people the studio could lure into the cinema seats.

Review: I LOVED THE HISTORICAL BASIS, AND THE ACTING, BUT THE NUDITY I COULD HAVE LIVED WITHOUT. I LIKED KATE, DANNY, VICTOR, KATHY, AND ERIC. BUT I THINK THAT LEO SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. NO OFFENCE, HE'S A GO0D ACTOR...JUST NOT I THIS MOVIE.

Review: This movie is probably one of the most over rated movies ever made. It is boring, too long, the romance is extremely cheesy and the acting is poor. The drama and romance are so predictible it feels like watching a movie made by kids for kids.

Summary: Armageddon was better than the cr** known as Titanic.
Review: I admit it, Armageddon was by far an awful movie, with no acting, or character development. On the other hand, Titanic itself was really just a badly written screenplay displaying some of the worst dialoge ever written for a major motion picture. (I'd rather be his whore than your wife, I'm just a tumble weed blowing in the wind, etc.) YUCK! No wonder it wasn't nominated at the Oscars. The sets and costumes were nice, as well as the special effects. However, the characters were very badly written. (What about focusing on the more interesting characters of the ship, a fictional teenage couple is not appealing in the least bit to mature viewers.) Not to mention dozens of inconsistencies in the film. (Rose would have quickly died floating on that piece of wood, wind chill is much colder than the water itself, The middle finger wasn't used in early twentieth century society!) Armageddon and Titanic definitely go down as two of the worst movies of the ninties. I consider myself a very patient person when watching movies, but the three hour plus running time as well as the awful dialoge and characters made me want to rip the Titanic video out of my VCR. James Cameron is a gifted filmmaker, but, he struck out this time. Titanic is by far Cameron's worst film yet. Sorry, Titanic fans, 1 star out of 5! Want to see a great movie, rent The Godfather!

Summary: In Memory Of....
Review: I will start out saying why I gave this movie four starsinstead of five. "Titanic" could have been a masterpiece. And it almost was. BUT, the excessive use of profanity in this film was ridiculous. And having Rose use profanity was not in keeping with the times. A lady of her social standing and upbringing would have NEVER used language like she did. The other thing is the sex. A young lady of good upbringing, like Rose, during that era, would have NEVER had sex with a man on a ship that she met only 4 days earlier, no matter how in-love she thought she was. They would have had Rose either committed to an asylum, or worse! James Cameron would have had a masterpiece IF he would have kept with the times in those situations. Having Jack and Rose sneak down to the car and neck alittle would have been much more believable.

I was already a Titanic buff before this movie. I watched and bought the A&E documentary in 1995. James Cameron told the true story of what happened on the Titanic, and many of the actual conversations. You can recognize so many little details if you know something about the Titanic disaster before you see this movie. Except for the fictitious central characters, this is THE true story of what happened to and on the Titanic.

Review: My faith in humanity is restored to see all the negative reviews below. When this movie became the biggest money-grosser in history, I thought, "Are people that bereft of taste?" Thankfully, not all are. I felt embarrassed for James Cameron and Leonardo DiCaprio when I watched this movie, it was so bad. When Dicaprio is handcuffed to the wall as the ship is sinking, and Kate Winslett is leaving to get him help, Leo says to Winslett "I'll wait here," as though SHE WERE GOING OUT FOR DONUTS! The ship is SINKING, he is sinking WITH IT, facing DEATH. A person is going to be PANICKED and FRIGHTENED with death-by-drowning so near! And here is DiCaprio acting like he is waiting at a bus stop! That is bad acting, no two ways about it! (And I find it ironic that young girls loved this movie so much: a movie where a girl chooses a poor boy over a rich boy; talk about lack of realism!!!!!) Legendary screenwriter William Goldman wrote in the November "Premiere" that he believes the 90's are the worst decade in movie history. I can't help but think he's right when I think of TITANIC.

Review: the acting had moments and the effects were tight but thescreen writing and the horrible theme song take badly from the film.this film was long winded and overly dramatic.it's a sad tragedy no doubt but sitting thru it for 3 or more hours doesn't hold my interest.

Review: I read a few reviews before I wrote this and it spins me out that people can dislike this movie. It has almost everything a person could ask for in a movie it has great sound and picture, it has action, romance and to top it of it has brillant actors. Put all the hype aside and you still have a really good movie that makes you laugh and cry.
