Summary: A riveting cinema event!
Review: Rarely has Hollywood come up with a movie to satisfy the likes and tastes of many: special effects buffs, love story seekers, and historical followers. Titanic is one of those rare gems, hosting all of those factors and even more packed into the 3 1/2 hour feature. After a long-delayed opening date and a budget that seemed to keep on growing, the movie, which opened in December '97, quickly gained back its costs and much more. The harrowing, fictional love story centers on a debutante engaged to a swarthy but arrogant aristocrat and her experience on the famed ocean liner. Her sights are soon set on a steerage passenger, and the two develop a passionate romance. The ship soon meets its fate, tossing them, and everyone aboard, into a fight for survival. The special effects are amazing, seamless even, and one might go so far as to say realistic. The sound effects are loud and explosive, making the sinking of the ship a truly visceral experience. The DVD edition of this movie is a winner, with the widescreen version of the film and Dolby soundtracks that produce deep bass. If you haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting for?

Summary: One of the best I've *EVER* seen!
Review: This is easily the second best movie I've ever seein, number two only the THE COLOR PURPLE. Many have said that the romance braught the film down, well, to me, that's not as big a deal. It is, in the end, suppose to be entertainment. And I don't belive Rose's actions were totally out of place -- they extend to extreams, yes, but that's what movies are well known for usually: taking things to the extreams.

The sets, Ship, everything were outstanding and amazing, too. The acting was good, and all the little details, too.

I think many've over-looked the good qualities of this movie. The ovbious work put into making the Ship herself, the manner of the charactrers, the attiudes of the time, deserve credit.

You can't just look at the bad points. That's a big problem with Society today: many tend to only focus on the bad or different points rather than the positive ones.

As for the only part of the movie that "mattered" -- the sinking -- everything else leading up to it is important. You get to see the ship, people, attitudes, the history of the time and other little trinkits. It's like a history lesson in many ways. And the events of the sinking -- how She broke in half, people getting shot at, 3rd Class passengers being looked on the lower decks and not being allowed to come up to the boats -- are all true. They did *A LOT* of research into the sinking of the Titanic so that Her sinking would be portraid acurately.

Cudos to the team that worked on this film!

Summary: Scenery beautiful, but trite plot & characters...
Review: The scenery was beautiful & the historical views were realistic & really took you back in time, but the characters were rather trite & the plot was old. It's the same old romance plot & to make matters worse, the romance is a hackneyed story of: guy from poor background falls in love with girl with rich, "upper-class" parents. And the girl's family is snobby & don't approve of this "low-class" boyfriend. I thought Rose was a bit stereotyped in that when the ship is sinking, she constantly whines, "Jack...Jack" & is shown as panicky while Jack is cool & collected & is always rescuing her. Rose also came across as a little self-centered & spoiled. Of course, Jack is infatuated with her "beauty." I thought DiCaprio was WAY overrated as an actor;he's all right, but not spellbinding; I suspect it's because he was the latest teen idol that so many people gushed over him. His character, Jack tried to come across as a charming, humble, funny boy, but he came across as kind of show-offy & wanting to "rescue" Rose. I'd take the "Karate Kid's" Daniel LaRusso over Jack Dawson any day (Daniel is REALLY endearing & funny & doesnt try to show off or "rescue" his girlfriend). The ending kind of bothered me; Jack & Rose are in the freezing water & Jack, I guess trying to be "chivalrous" lets Rose take up the whole piece of the splintered lifeboat & tries to survive in the water, even though he's nearly FROZEN. I think if Rose had an ounce of common sense & decency, she would have insisted that Jack share half of the boat or the two of them hang on in the water.

Summary: They did it for Love......
Review: This is one of the most beautiful, touching love stories I have ever seen in my life! So what if it doesn't follow the real-life plot, did you people expect to go to the theater and see another version of a National Geographic Documentary? There are plenty of old movies about the Titanic that follow the gruesome real-life theme, go rent one of them! That is why I loved this movie so much! Hollywood decided to do something different with the Titanic in the 90's. The lovestory of Jack and Rose was just a closeup of something I'm sure a lot of couples that were in love aboard that ship had to endure during the sinking (accept for the gunshots of a furious fiancee, I'm sure). This movie is perfect for anybody who has ever lost a person they truly loved....... the ending says it all....... that person will always be in your heart........ love never dies........ and it will be waiting for you when it is your time to leave this life........ it will take your hand and relive your most special moments you shared together on the earth.......no matter how near and far...wherever you are.... you are here in my heart and my heart will go on......... I really feel sorry for those people who hate this movie, you are miserable, lost souls. Maybe if you keep praying you will be able to find true love one day and will watch the Titanic knowing exactly what it means..... until then... wallow in your hate... and misery..........

Summary: Great, but remember
Review: Grand movie, but remember the rich people this movie "shows" still run things, and would dump anyone of us "overboard" for a cent.

A movie can give you the illusion of the "Jack" winning a heart, but your still a slave to the people who still own the jewel.

Don't be fooled by fantasy.

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: I don't care what other people say, this movie is one of my favorites. For all of you people who rated it 3 star or below, ya'll people don't know a good movie when you see one! Sure it's a little inaccurate, but the special effects and the drama of this movie can't be beaten. I didn't watch this movie because of the # of awards it won or because Leonardo DiCaprio is in it (ugh!) I watched it because it recreates the awful tragedy of the doomed liner. You people who do not appreciate this movie have no respect for the actual 1500 people who died in the frigid Atlantic Ocean. This movie is a classic!

Summary: flawed but good
Review: It's interesting to note that almost all of the customer reviews here from England (and most from around the world, for that matter) are positive. We North Americans know the British are a lot smarter, more sophisticated than us, so let's take their word for it, it's a good film! Yes the plot and characterizations involving the main characters might come across as thin or unoriginal but for a historical flick this movie is a lot more entertaining than one of those equally long and much more slow-moving Swedish dramas! The reason most people like this film is because whatever its faults, it never ceases to be emotionally or dramatically engaging. Some of the reviews are quite mean, subjective and unfair. What most harsh critics of this movie seem to dislike about it isn't so much the film as much as the fact that it was so over-hyped.

Summary: VERY ENTERTAINING
Review: I was never a Leonardo DiCaprio fan--until this movie. While Kate Winslet looks charming and beautiful, it is DiCaprio's interpretation of Jack that really steals the show. This movie is not an intellectual heavyweight--but then it doesn't pretend to be. What it is, is a highly entertaining adventure with a sad and touching love story at its heart. I found the acting to be excellent, the music gorgeous and the plot fast-paced. If you're looking for something to stimulate the brain cells, this won't do it. But if you're looking for a great evening's entertainment, Titanic certainly fills the bill.

Summary: Titanic
Review: This was a very good film. I saw the preview for the movie and I thought it had been told already. I thought the story was getting old. The truth is that it was very well told. Leo Dicaprio did an incredible job of playing the poor boy named Jack Doson. It was ironic though how Jack and Rose ended up together. Tony said it was impossible to get even into contact with her. Jack managed more then that. Anyway, this movie, although the story of Titanic was already told thousand times over is a good movie. My favorite part of the movie is the part on the Bow, although there have been jokes about that seen it was one of the most beautiful scenes in the entire movie. You see this, you won't regret it.

Summary: Titanic is the best movie!
Review: What's wrong with you people? Titanic is a great movie I thought. The special effects were awesome and I thought Leonardo DiCaprio gave his best performance at the end of the movie. Yeah, I know he didn't get nominated for it but I think this movie rocks! I have it on DVD and video. When I got it on video on the first day I watched it twice. I love it.
