Summary: Okay
Review: The special effects were really touted as being top-notch. I beg to differ. I think they were just okay. They were better on a large screen in the theater, but still not great.

The story, although fairly well known, is still pretty captivating. The romance factor is not overdone, so it is tolerable for even most hardened viewers. Still, it may be a tear-jerker for some, making it a good "date" movie.

Summary: Not Worthy
Review: This was a fairly good disaster movie but a TERRIBLE romance movie, and did not deserve most of the Oscars that it received. Giving the movie its due, it is an ambitious attempt to portray the historical events upon which it is based in a comprehensive and realistic way. This is the SECOND half of the movie. The first half is a sub-standard, over-hyped, insubstantial, unoriginal and utterly predictable romance that drags the movie out about an hour longer than it ought to be. It takes the tired old theme of the little rich girl being swept off of her feet by the working-class hero, adds NOTHING, casts a fairly talented actress (Kate Winslet) in the role of the ingénue and an over-hyped hack (Leonardo DiCaprio) in the role of the working-class hero, and overlays it into the historical context. If you're interested in a romance, there are far better and far more original romance movies available (Captain Correlli's Mandolin, The English Patient, and A Walk In The Clouds to name a few) that you should consider. If you are interested in the movie for its depiction of the sinking of the Titanic, it is admittedly the best portrayal of the event. However, do yourself a BIG favor and skip everything between the point when the captain orders the ship to full speed ahead and the point just before the ship strikes the iceberg. I guarantee that you can easily guess everything that happens in between, and it actually makes it a much better movie.

Summary: not "just another chick flick"...
Review: that was definitly the main reason i went to see the movie, the thought i had in my mind when it was starting was "wow, leo, can't wait to see his acting..." i had seen him in "romeo and ju liet", and he definitly was a charmer, so i HAD to see this 3+ hour movie, the more leo the better right? but the thing that surprised me was how my mind wasn't totally on the love story, which is usually the thing with me when it comes to love stories, but this time i was amazed at the script, at the adaptation of the horrific day, and just the fact that they actually build the HUGE ship, doesn't that amaze anyone? all the actors were amazing, and it wasn't one of those sappy ending things. it was different. so if you haven't see it, i would recommend it, it is PG13, but keep in mind there is brief nudity.. so go see it if you haven't, you dont know what you're missing!

Summary: Overrated, but pretty good.
Review: It took an estimated 20 million hours of begging to get my mom to let me see this film, and when I finally watched it, I found it to be one of the most overrated films of all time (surprise!). The acting was pretty good, but the SCRIPT TOTALLY [inhaled] WASTEWATER. Despite it's cliche love triangle-plot, The Titanic would have been a great film if it had not been for the unnatural sounding dialogue. I mean, sometimes when you see movies and dialogue is like that, you can tell it's the actors, but in The Titanic you know right off the bat that it is the script that's making it so strange. This film would have gotten 2 stars (one removed for the cliche love theme, two removed for the script) but the sinking of TITANIC was done so brilliantly that it deserved at least 2 more stars. It was very horrifying, but one of the most creative things I have ever seen in a film. I think the best actors in the movie were Rose's mother, who is stupendous at acting like a caustic control freak of a mom and Mr Andrews. Based on this one movie, I'd say that James Cameron is a great director but needs to attend a screenwriting workshop or something. And another thing: in the end, when Jack and Rose are freezing their butts off in the water, couldn't they have taken shifts on the raft instead of just having Rose sit on it? I mean, it could have saved both of them. I could have figured THAT out. Also, if you are the feministy type, I don't think you will like the fact that apart from Rose chopping Jack out of handcuffs while the boat sinks Jack does essentially all the heroic action.
Overall, The Titanic was fun to watch and it's even MORE fun to imitate all the cheezy lines from it afterwards (I am not a foreman in one of your mills that you can command, Cal. I am you fiance!).

Summary: A touching story
Review: Oh my Gosh! This movie is so amazing! I love it! It's a beautiful non- fiction story about two lovers on the famaus Titanic. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet really take you to the heart of this movie. When I first saw it I felt like I was really there seeing every thing that Rose and Jack saw. I imagined me in their position and it's almost impossible to believed it really happened. The director ( James Cameron )did an excellent job making this film. It really plays your emotions. The music was beautiful! It made the movie worth wild.
I recommend this to all "teenagers'' and mature 12 year olds. If you are 11 and under I wouldn't see it if I were you. It has some nudity in it and bad language in it. The other really sad part in it is when you see people dying. If you buy this movie or rent it make sure it's not widescreen! Altogether this movie is rated higher than a five! But just a hint: I think that this should be a movie only for girls and grown women. I guess adult men could see it but not boys!

But to finish off my review I just wanted to let you know this is a breath-taking, hand over your mouth, grip your sisters arm off movie!

Summary: Beautiful movie
Review: This is my favorite movie of all time!!
I watched this movie with my twin sister and loved it.
I'm going to be 13 in July but I think mature 12 year olds can watch it.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet do this movie wonderfully!
Kate is playing a first class passenger ( Rose) on the " unsinkable" RMS Titanic in the year 1912.
She hates her life on the Titanic because it's always boring dinner parties for her. Finally fed up with her life she decides to end it , by committing suicide.
There Jack Dawson ( DiCaprio) stops her and they fall in love.
( This particular scene is funny-- Leo does it well)

There up entill the sinking it's pretty much just about romantic stuff which is sweet, but somewhat inappropriate.

You see Jack sketches Rose lying on a couch ( totally naked)
And it has some heavy language in the beginning and is a little lighter as the movie goes on.
The sad part comes at the end when I cried on and off.
( I won't tell you that part)

But overall it is a wonderful motion picture and if you haven't seen it I urge you too. ( But be ready to cry if your an emotional person)
SO ORDER IT FROM AMAZON.COM AND BE A PERSON WHO CAN SAY
"I SAW THE GREATEST MOTION PICTURE MOVIE OF ALL TIME!"

Summary: I Cheered For the North Atlantic
Review: I suppose I was ruined by "A Night to Remember", the absolutely classic 1958 film version of the wonderful 1953 book about the Titanic disaster. Anyway, I was forced to suffer through this thing by my husband, who I think rented it only so he could stare at Kate Winslet's physical assets. I was wretched until the last half hour, when everybody had landed in the water. I then had the tremendous joy of watching the North Atlantic take Leonardo diCaprio. I cheered as he slowly died of exposure. You go, Atlantic!! I had to go back and rent "A Night to Remember" again, just to clean my mind out.

Summary: Home Theatre Fanatics and Fans of the Film - BEWARE
Review: Excited about your new widescreen or DVD player and want to experience it with your favorite film, Titanic? WAIT! This is perhaps the worst DVD I have ever purchased (and in 3 years I've purchased many). It is not anamorphic, or enhanced for your current or future 16x9 (widescreen) tv. It has no extras such as commentaries, documentaries, interviews, or deleted scenes (from a film famous for originally having an over 4 hour cut).

I love the film. But this is worse than just a bad dvd, it's a .... I would venture to guess that this dvd was cut to capitalize on the original rush of fans who are mostly new to dvd and would buy anything "Titanic", knowing that many of these same fans will buy it again when the "Special Edition" or "Anniversary Edition" or "Awards Edition" which will inevitably come out a few years later, just to increase revenues.

Save your money or buy a used version.

Summary: Titanic
Review: I admit, the movie sucked me in somewhat. It tore my heart when Jack fell under. I felt I was really there watching all those people drown. I was scared. I admit, I would have cried if it was not for the man next to me, whose presence reminded me I was a man.

This movie has to be something if it was able to suck me in so much. So it gets two stars, for sucking! I am kidding. It was engrossing and, in that respect, good.

But what a horrible film! What depression and horror! What terrifying action near the end! . . . Fellow reviewers and surfers, I ask you -- and be honest -- what makes this horror worth watching? When a film tells you: I am about death and misery; at my end most of the people you have seen die; I am, moreover, three hours long, three hours of which you already know; that is, you know I am about misery and death, and that my first two hours are there to make you feel more anguish at my end. . . . Why Watch! Why admire this monster! Why look at misery and applaud it! You are praising bad art, gentlemen . . . and ladies. . . . There are heroes, you say. Yes, indeed there are -- ones with violins in fact -- but not enough. Our heroes die in the water. We are left with an old woman.

Review: Excellent special effects. Good story, but bad casting. Overall a good movie, but worse than Lord of the Rings, which actually deserved the Oscar for Best Picture.
