Rating: Summary: One of the worst movies of all time..... Review: I guess i still don't get it. I saw this movie when it first came out and was amazed at how bad it was (ie. poor dialog, very bad script, barely passable acting). The only thing the movie had going for it was the special effects (but even the effects weren't worth $7.50 nor sitting through 3 hours of a very poorly told and contrived story. In my opinion (and i know im in the minority for some reason) this is definitely on my top 5 list of the worst movies of all time. END
Rating: Summary: A good movie, BUT... Review: ...there are too many flaws to the storyline. I tried to tell myself to stop thinking too much and just let movie do its job, but the most important plotline (the love story) is unconvining and silly. Okay, maybe it's suppose to have that fairy tale feel to it. But I can't believe that they are really in love with each other. I'll say that is a BIG flaw in a love story. Saying this is the greatest love story of all time is a joke. Yes, I cried at the end. But the scenes that made me cried were not from those two. I wish the movie would've concentrate on more different people from different aspect of the society, let us know how it is really like on the whole ship. I'm not saying this is a bad movie either, the special effects were great. And it's worth watching, just not hundreds of times like some people do. This is probably the movie I liked the least out of all the nominations for the oscar last year. L.A. Confidental should definitely have won. END
Rating: Summary: Great movie, exceptional historic value! Review: Titanic is a great movie, they way Cameron choose to work with the finest detail is fabulous, even if you didn't like the plotline between Jack and Rose, this movie provides a great view of the Titanic that is pretty accurate. END
Rating: Summary: The most magical movie I have ever seen Review: I musy have been the last person in the state of Arizona to watch Titanic. I didn't think that there was any way that a movie could live up to the expectations everyone had going into the theater. I was wrong! The movie was magic. It brought you into their world. Although I must say the nudity was a bit too much (totally unnecessary). I guess that was the only way to get guys to watch a chick flick. The love story was a little thin, too. We all know that didn't happen back then when classes were so divided. I did like how we got to know Jack and Rose. It made the ending so bittersweet. Kate Winslet did an outstanding job (However, I do agree with Helen Hunt recieving the Best Actress Award) and Leo was good. Despite the few flaws in Titanic, I do believe it is the most touching movie I have ever seen.
Rating: Summary: Saw it 8 times. Will be the first to buy it! Review: Alrighty. First off, my obsession so to speak of Titanic didn't come from the movie. It came from the actual ship which i have been interested in for years, and I'm only 13. I saw it the day after it came out, the day after that, one week span, then saw it, then saw it again the next day, then 2 week span, almost died saw it again etc. And if a movie like this can do THAT to a 13-year-old Leonardo DiCaprio hating male, you gotta admit, it's a damn great movie. And many people are comparing it to Gone With The Wind which I find out of line. They are COMPLETELY different movies all-together. And plus, I've seen Gone With the Wind and it doesn't have that let me see... attracting effect of Titanic. In Gone With the Wind and movies like Evita, you can really tell it's a 3-hour-movie because it lacks suspense, drama or much feeling. But in Titanic, it's all so emotional and riveting throughout every scene that i could be watching it for 10 hours and not known it. In fact, technically, I've spent over 24 hours watching it. And I've also noticed a lot of the negative criticism about the film has come saying things like "It wasn't the best movie of all time". Well, no maybe it wasn't, but it wasn't supposed to be! This movie, I think, was made to recapture the horrible, riveting and in a way helpful story of the RMS Titanic. It wasn't made in a "Best Movie of All Time" race with Gone With the Wind! Think about it, the Europeans made a floating palace, litterally. And they made it safe and fast and amazing. Who on earth that isn't living under a ROCK can't understand why they did this? The internet is all I have to say. We are like the modern day Irishmen that thought up and built the Titanic! We;re going along as if the Internet is the best thing that ever hit Earth, yet that's what they felt about Titanic. All Good thing must come to an end... Well wow this is long. And i just came to tell that I worship the movie! Please if you're in any way linked or interested in the RMS Titanic, email me at RMSTlTANIC@aol.com (The first i in Titanic is actually a lower-case L
Rating: Summary: OVERHYPED Review: Although a tremendous feat both technologically and logistically, TITANIC, as a film and a work of art, fell far short of my expectations. The script was poorly written and poorly executed. A second-grader could have written more convincing dialogue. It was filled with cliches and inappropriate modern references. Also, the performaces were lackluster, and DiCaprio gives the worst performace of his otherwise spectacular career. It was very hard to sit through a love story (especially a 3 hour one) and not care one bit for any of the characters. The actors can not be blamed, however. As a director, James Cameron is apparently more concerned with digital effects and high-tech toys than with soliciting great performances from his actors. The members of the TITANIC cast were reduced to the unfortunate roles of "props" for the production. TITANIC had the potential to be one of the greatest films of the century, but sadly, it turned out to be nothing more than shallow Hollywood garbage with a slick glossy cover. END
Rating: Summary: The Best Movie Ever Made Review: The vision and execution of Cameron's masterpiece has never been matched, and probably never will be. END
Rating: Summary: This is the best movie I have ever seen. Deffinately my Fav Review: James Cameron's "Titanic" is the best movie that has come out of Hollywood in a long time. I have seen it six times and have reserved it for when it comes out in Sept. I still catch my breath everytime Jack and Rose meet at the bottom of the stairs and he kisses her hand. VERY romantic. I have to admit that I was impressed with Cameron's historical detail. I have always been fascinated by the Titanic disaster and feared that he would leave crucial points in the ships ill-fated voyage.Leonardo DiCaprio (awsome) and Kate Winslet have an awsome chemistry and you can feel that from the moment they meet on the stren of the ship to him teaching her how to "spit like a man" to the ending. Winslet and Cameron did the right thing by not letting DiCaprio turn down the role of Jack Dawson. He made the character very beliveable and I wish that there were men like him in today's world, but oh well. Winslet made Rose very beliveable and I am pleased the Cameron didn't make the character a snivling baby, but a head strong woman. Titanic is the best movie and if you are seeing it for the 10th time or for the first savor every minute of it. It will leave you heartbroken and happy at the same time, and wanting a love like Jack's and Rose's. END
Rating: Summary: An epic with great potential ruined by sensational melodrama Review: I saw this much hyped film and unfortunately spent a significant part in near hysterical laughter especially the "ROSE!!!" "JACK!!!" sequences. This is not because I would laugh at the misfortune of others or be flippant about the suffering of other human beings, but the way the two lead characters were portrayed was outside of the realm of reality, which I guess made it more comfortable for me to laugh (Hey, this is obviously fiction). This film lost a great opportunity to show the REAL heroism of destruction. It is'nt through grand acts of chivalry, or the fictional divide between "good" people and "evil" people. It is through being able to recognize every frailty we are aware of in ourselves in others, and yet being able to see the strength of human character EMERGE above these frailties (NOT SOME FICTIONAL HEROIC CHARACTERS WHO EMBODY WHAT IS "GOOD"). Puhleeeease, show me some real people. Great entertainment though. P.S: Do all films have to portray flexible morality as reality? END
Rating: Summary: Good tear jerker but rotten research mar the movie Review: I was impressed that Titanic seemed to be well researched: the characters looked good; the haircuts were appropriate; the body types were fitting. But lip stick and eye makeup are hardly acceptable in a movie laid in 1912. It so offended me that I couldn't give the movie or the video a fair viewing. I didn't find the movie immoral; I found it indifferently researched. Sloppyness offends me. END
