Summary: OK, now this defines bad movie
Review: I won't even get into the plot, but essentially its a love story disaster where apparently its okay for an older chick to sleep with a teenage boy. The tragedy is completely glossed over with expensive sets and a b-movie level romance. The acting was so bad that Bill Paxton outshone everybody here with his 5 minutes. The 2nd part of the movie was just an orgy of CGI and death and had no real redeeming features.
The only way it could have been worse was if it was a musical with tap dancing....then again that might have improved it.

Summary: "The Ship of Dreams"
Review: Directed by James Cameron, this 1997 film takes the viewer back to April of 1912 aboard the maiden voyage of the Titantic. Known for its size, the ship was believed by many to be unsinkable. The movie starts off with a search crew, led by "Brock Lovett" (Bill Paxton) who is exploring the remains buried at sea, particularly a 56-carat blue diamond necklace named "The Heart of the Ocean". Upon discovery of a safe, "Brock" reveals a sketch of a young woman wearing the necklace. The picture is dated April 14, 1912. Upon hearing of the search for the diamond on a news station, a 101- year-old lady "Rose Dawson Clavert" (Gloria Stuart) contacts "Brock" to inform him of information that may help him in his search.Upon arrival to the "Brocks" vessel, "Rose" identifies herself as the woman in the sketch and beings to reveal her accounts and secrets of the voyage. This film takes us back and forth from 1912 to present day. "Rose's" story begins when she, as a young woman accompanies her wealthy obnoxious fiancé, "Cal Hockley" (Billy Zane) and her socialite mother "Ruth De Witt Bukater" (Frances Fisher) aboard the Titantic on it's maiden voyage from Ireland to America. The death of "Rose's" father has left her family in extreme debt and her engagement to wealthy "Mr. Hockley" has been forced upon her by her mother "Ruth" to help them from losing their social status within the community. Although "Rose" has captured the love of her fiancé "Cal", she doesn't love him and longs for a life that offers her more. "Jack Dawson" (Leonardo DiCapario), an aspiring young artist who has won his 3rd class ticket from a poker game is also boarding the ship unknowing that the love of his life is also boarding the same ship. Having been pushed to her limits "Rose" rushes to the bow to jump over board. "Jack" sees what is about to happen and rescues "Rose" from ending her life. The two find an attraction to one another and steal time away to be together. "Jack" talks about living live to it's fullest and "making it count". The two are captivated by one another and fall madly in love. As the ship smashes into an iceberg and begins to sink, the two rush to find safety only to confirm that the ship is not equipped with enough life- boats to save everyone aboard. After the ship has sunk, together they find a single piece of wood that is only big enough to hold one of them. "Rose" climbs on the board while holding onto "Jack's" hand as he floats in the icy water. As they float waiting for the rescue team, "Jack" forces "Rose" to promise that she will fight to stay alive and to never let go. This epic offers a love story and drama along with the excitement of exploration. Costing $200 million to make, James Cameron does an outstanding job of taking us back to April 15, 1912 during the first and final voyage of the Titantic while entertaining us with a love story, that who knows, may have truly happened.

Summary: Boring!
Review: There are few movies in memory where I have found it necessary to fast-forward through most of it so I don't fall asleep before the end. This is one of those movies. Overhyped and overanalyzed, this movie proved that the Academy Awards are based more on public relations and public opinion than they are on talent, quality, and art. It is still difficult for me to believe that this mishmash of pure nonsense won Best Picture over the far superior movies L.A. Confidential and As Good As It Gets. 11 Academy Awards? It equals Ben-Hur (1959) in the number of awards, but will never equal it in artistic achievement or dramatic tension. Except for the cinematography, costume and set designs, and some of the special effects, this is a perfect example of what Hollywood calls "high art and entertainment" today. Poor story line, lousy acting, a total waste of time....

Review: Forget all the hype. This film is just about cashing in on special effects, a pitiful romance, Cate Winslet as the pretty female lead, and Leonardo Di Craprio as the other pretty female lead. The best part of this film is the ending where Leonardo freezes to death on a large icecube. I cheered at that point.

Summary: Immortally beloved
Review: Cameron certainly created a fantastic backdrop, but the movie itself leaves much to be desired. He pans lavishingly over the many beautiful details of his recreated ship, giving one the full sense of this ill-fated luxury liner. However, when it came to a narrative he fell for the all too convenient love story as told in a distant third person, making the movie into a rather obnoxious tear-jerker. We get a few brief glimpses of past cinematic voyages. Kathy Bates as the "unsinkable" Molly Brown. However, with so many stories that could be told from this voyage, why concoct such a simple-minded one. Di Caprio has been unable to live down the stardom he achieved with this movie. He seemed closed in on this voyage, trapped in a very limiting role. Kate Winslett managed to put this film behind her. I have to admire her pluck for refusing to lose weight for the role, noting correctly that women were more full-figured then. The movie drags on for an excrutiatingly long 3 hours as though Cameron didn't when to stop. It must have been a shame to destroy the beautiful ship he had created. He forces us to watch its slowly sinking hull, with all the stars shining above like Beethoven's pond in "Immortally Beloved."

Summary: Romeo and Juliet on the S.S. Titanic??? What a crock of.....
Review: OK. So the action, the special effects, and the costumes are great in this movie. I have to give them credit for that. They really take you back to 1912. But the storyline in Titanic sets my blood boiling!
I'm sorry but love does not happen overnight. This movie is about two immature, selfish teens infatuated with each other. They hurt others and even risk their own well-being just to satisfy their lust.
Jack Dawson, makes for a peculiar and utterly selfish character. He is a poor but well-travelled man of his time???(A strange combination in those days.) Anyhow, he was extremely inconsiderate of his little rich girl Rose. What was he planning to do when they got off the ship? Sweep her off her feet, and introduce her to the wonderful life of 18 hr. sweat shops, diseased slums, and stillborn babies? For a more experienced and more exposed man, he sure had some good intentions for his little princess! I'm sure that when the misery and reality set in, she would've realized just how much happier life was going to be with her new love! Definately the new and better life that she so deserved.
I also didn't find it too amusing that he blatantly forced his way into an engaged couple's relationship and basically stole another man's woman. He then proceeded to take an inexperienced and naive girl's virginity in the backseat of a car!???? Yeah, he really treated her like a lady there. He sure showed her some dignity and respect.
It's good riddance that he froze to death in the end. Some things do work out for the best, don't they?
Titanic is a probably a good movie for those shallow, narrow-minded hopeless romantics. If one opens their eyes and take a really good look at it, they'll realize that this "love story" is not as cute as it seems.

Summary: Titanic-The Ship of Dreams
Review: This movie starts in a present day time. Treasure hunter Brock Levitt and his crew are searching the "Titanic" for a lost 56 carat diamond named the "Heart of the Ocean". He hopefully examines the contents of a safe, but only finds a drawing of a nude wearing the diamond. The drawing is televised and recognized by Rose DeWitt Bukater(Kate Winslet). She contacts Brock and meets with him on his boat. She tell the story of the diamond and how she is the woman in the nude drawing. Her story begins 84 years ago when she is a seventeen year old socialite traveling with her mother and snobbish fiance, Cal Hockley(Billy Zane) from Liverpool to New York where their wedding is to take place.
2,200 passengers are aboard the Titanic, called "The Ship of Dreams", among them penniless artist, Jack Dawson(Leonardo DiCaprio)who wins his ticket and boards the luxury liner at the last minute. There he notices Rose and an intense love affair begins that will last almost a century with some aid from Molly Brown(Kathy Bates) who is also a passenger.
Rose is now 101 years old but her memory is sharp as she tells this epic love story of that fateful night so long ago.
This is a long movie,194 minutes long but it will keep most viewers from pre-teen to the elderly riveted to their seats, as any thriller will do, anxiously awaiting the next scene.

Summary: When good profits happen from bad movies...
Review: Do all the 5 star reviewers actually consider themselves movie critics? That's truly sad because the acting in this incredibly predictable movie is horrible. The only thing that saves it is the special effects, costumes and music. They practically take you back in time to 1912. Kate Winslet is better suited for the comedy she is known for in English TV shows. I can only imagine if this movie starred Nicole Kidman and Nicholas Cage instead. It would make the acting a thousand times better! And no Richard, i did not see this movie a lot. I saw it once and regret it.
