Summary: One of the few movies that DESERVE a 5-star review
Review: This movie is one of those few cinematic experiences that once the movie concludes you just have to remain sitting and wonder in awe "How did they (the filmmakers) DO that?????" This movie gets me every time...in every range of emotions...from the technical (i.e. "My God, they actually re-built that ship???") to the emotional (Old Rose dropping the neckless back into the ocean), to the aural (the utterly beautiful, haunting, unforgetable theme and music). This is the type of movie only a few in Hollywood could have ever dared to have created...it took a maverick autuer like Cameron to pull it off so completely. VERY impressive. Like I said, this is one of the few movies deserving of a 5-star review (BTW, is it an unwritten law that EVERY movie here on Amazon warrant a 5-star review??? Jeez. It's like Barney the Dinosaur repeating "I love you" ad nauseum...after the 1,000th time it kinda loses its meaning.)

Summary: No, no, no, no no, no, no, no NO!!!!!!
Review: This is NOT a good movie! Good movies are Citizen Kane, Casablanca, The Godfather, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Star Wars. Come to think of it, there are lots of good movies. The special effects were outstanding, teenage girls want to see Leonardo DiCaprio......SO WHAT! These are the reasons Titanic made money. I find the characters to be appaling especially Rose, this pathetic week minded imbiscile who wants to kill herself and can't even tell her fiance 'I'm over 18, I can do what I want and I don't like you so go away!'

Summary: Missed opportunity
Review: Well, the DVD of Titanic could have been spectacular.

What does the DVD have that the VHS tape doesn't have besides the obvious better sound/picture? Not much. It's not enhanced for widescreen TV's, but at least the studio can rerelease it in a couple of years. There's no commentary tracks, which could have been very interesting, and there's no special features of note in what is considered a special movie.

As for the movie, it was fun to watch the first time, but was there ever any doubt that Jack would die? Not for me. I would've only bought the movie if it had lots of features - 'cause it loses ALOT going to small screen from theater.

Summary: Impressive
Review: Leonardo was very different in this movie. He was ruthless and selfish in "The Man in the Iron Mask", but in Titanic, he was caring, loving and thoughtful. His acting was really something. He contributed to the impressive atmosphere of the movie. Kate was the star of the movie with her extraordinary beauty and her awareness of what life is all about. They deserve all the attention they get: They succeeded in turning a very well-known story into a new adventure. What more can I say?.. 5 stars...

Summary: A DVD must!
Review: Yes, the story is a bit thin. Yes, there's some over-acting on the part of a few charaters. And yes, there are numerous assumptions made relative to the sinking of the ship. BUT: The complete movie is magnificant, and visually a '10'. I'm adding this to my collection -- right next to other Oscar-award winning movies. At $15.00, it's a steal.

Summary: I'm sorry, but it's overrated...
Review: Yes, yes, the special effects were neat. The story was heartbreaking. The movie portrayed well one of the most catastrophic events in human history.

But still "Titanic" was not an overall wonderful movie. The acting was poor, (Leo shmeo. So he's cute. SO WHAT?) there were several... er... controversial scenes that could have been cut without taking anything away from the movie, and the directing of the live cast was not as good as all the critics said.

This is also possibly one of the most overrated movies of all time. I'm not saying it wasn't a good movie. It was. But it's not Schindler's List or Casablanca or Citizen Kane. Of course it's sad. It was meant to be,But it just didn't make me cry as much as I was expecting.

Summary: Great, good, o/k, it sucks!
Review: If you're confused with that summary thing, it means, the first time i saw it, it was great, the next THOUSAND times it got worse and worse. If I'm going to watch it again, I'll wait another 20 years when I have time to forget what it was like. Even then it'll be a cliche! Leo was to modern and sucked as an actor anyway. Kate Winslet was good. Everyone was good except for Leo. I'd watch it, but it's not the greatest thing in the world. You can compare the movie's publicity to the history of the ship. Both the Titanic movie and ship were made a big deal out of. They both were great for a certain amount of time. They both sunk fast!!!

Summary: Incredibly Awesome!
Review: The sinking of the ship was incredibly awesome in its entirety! They did this so well and so realistically and you felt you were there. And the music! I can't get over haw beautifully it went with the movie! It was so original and era and place fitting.

The length of the movie was just perfect. It was not so short that the movie felt incomplete and it was so long that you have to go the bathroom five times during the film.

The actors did the most incredible jobs. Especially Leonardo Di Caprio. Lot's of people dismiss this movie because he is in it, and it's not even necessarily because they don't like him. I believe it's because people want to be different and since so many people like Leonardo Di Caprio, the others feel that to be truly different they have to dismiss him and anything with him in it altogether. Therefore we have the Titanic dismissers who probably liked the movie but are putting on a tough front. I'm not a fan of Leonardo Di Caprio but I still loved the movie and I think that he truly acted very well considering the extreme conditions and physical stress that one had to endure. I think that the only actor that I could have done without, this goes for my dad to, was Kate Winslet. I was disappointed that they chose her to be in the cast because I didn't find her to fit the role which she played. But everyone else played brilliantly especially Molly Brown and Jack Dawson's friend who you first see at the beginning of the movie (I can't remember his name).
