Summary: interesting presentation.
Review: I really had no idea what this was about before I rented it other than it had DMX in it. But I will admit I didn't have high expectations ahead of time. This may contain a few spoilers.

It has David Arqette in it, and basically he see's DMX get stabbed in the beginning, and then DMX is so surprised that he stopped to help him, that on his deathbed in the hostpital, he signs over his car and all his possessions to him. Well, in his car he finds these tapes that DMX made, kind of a autobiography. It talks about how he ripped off this drug kingpin, and then went out west for a while, but then decided to come back and make things right, but then he gets killed. And so the drug dealers guys see david arquette and try and have him killed cause he's a witness to the whole deal. The drug dealer sent two guys to get payment from DMX and that's when things went wrong and DMX got killed, so the drug dealer has those two guys killed also, but they screw up and one gets away, who then goes after the drug dealer. So, it's actually a pretty complicated movie, with a lot of shooting, drugs, and ghetto in it. Like I said, not a bad movie, kind of an interesting concept. In the beginning of the movie david arquette was trying to get a job with a newspaper and in the end, the newspaper hires him after reading the story he wrote, which was all about the interesting events that happend to him after he saw DMX get stabbed.

Overall, kind of cool. If you like DMX, and you're into the whole drugs, shooting, cursing, ghetto kind of thing, then you'll probably find this movie entertaining. The presentation is interesting also, since DMX gets killed right away, the rest of the movie is told half in the past, and half in the present.

Summary: Excellent acting and a good story.
Review: I was impressed by the quality of the acting, even in small secondary characters, such as Ella (played by beautiful young actress, Drew Sidora). All performances were convincing, gritty and professional.

If Drew Sidora manages her career the right way, we may see a lot more of her acting talents in the future. She reminds me of Drea De Matteo (of "The Sopranos" fame)perhaps for the way she was made up.

The story is interesting, adding new twists to old schemes. It is somehow a little bit difuse, but that is because it mixes with two other plots.

The movie is worth buying and I am glad I did. I will see it many more times.

Summary: Dark, Doomy, Brutal and Gloomy
Review: I was rather impressed with how strong this film is. Having heard not much about it I was expecting another 'In Da Hood' film. I didn't have much confidence in Ernest Dickerson (Surviving the Game, Demon Knight) as his direction hasn't matured in the past decade. I eat my words now. He definitely brings a strong visual integrity to Never Die Alone.

DMX turns in a believable performance as King David a New York drug dealer who legs it to LA when he steals his bosses stash. Upon his return years later he is promptly offed by a two-bit thug. In his dying moments he bequeaths his entire legacy to investigative reporter David Arquette (who is great in his role too). Before the night is over Arquette pieces together his life and an awful past full of heinous crimes is unleashed, but it's not over yet and Arquette becomes marked for death by King David's still very angry boss.

In a mere 88 minutes Never Die Alone tells an intriguing story in non-chronological order and sets up a remarkable array of complexly interwoven characters. It's surely a character drama first before anything else. Don't misjudge it as being no more than a violent 'gangsta' thriller. The violence is brutal and honest but it does not distract, none of it is superfluous.

Dickerson's direction has a gothic, urban noir edge to it that has the feel of a 1950's pulp novel. It's dark, very dark and some may feel slightly uncomfortable with how frank Never Die Alone is in it's depiction of misogyny and the utter ruthlessness of it's central, highly evil character.

The DVD is in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen with Dolby 5.1 sound. There are a bunch of extras I never had time to check out. But this is definitely a movie for fans of (the initially unrecognisable) DMX, just don't expect one of those nice but bad characters he played in Exit Wounds or Cradle 2 the Grave. King David is a bad, bad man.

Summary: Don't Let This One Pass You By!!!!
Review: In Never Die Alone, DMX stars as King David, a violent and connyving drug dealer. He quickly learns the true meaning of what goes around comes around. The storyline is bound to keep you indulged, as you'll certainly try to predict the ending. As for the acting, even though DMX is a rapper, he continues to show his strengths as an actor as well. Overall, every cast member stepped up and did their part in this film, and were able to pull off a movie that should be, without a doubt, added to your DVD collection. Keep them coming, Mr. Ernest Dickerson, as we certainly can learn a lesson from watching all of your movies. For I'm sure, that is your purpose.

Summary: Redemption versus Bad Karma! Which one would win???????????
Review: Okay I own this book, but I've never cracked it open, now that I've seen the movie I will most definitely be reading Donald Goines version.

Galatians 6:7 reads "for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap!"

DIDN'T U LEARN THAT PAYBACK WAS A BBBBBBIIIIIITTTTTTCCCCCCHHHHHH!
This dark narrative weaves through past and present as King David returns home seeking redemption after fleeing 10 years ago with money, and lives left in the balance. "In order to right wrongs a man must admit to what he's done!" As he starts off righting his wrongs King David has very little consolation as he's met with his own ill fated end! But by whose hands? Now that's truly bad Karma! This hard-hitting thriller shows despair for all of its characters and leaves them spiraling off in all the wrong directions. (MESSAGE) There's a light at the end of the tunnel.

King David is DMX! No one else could have pulled this caper off! I have major "DOG LOVE" 4 this Bro, this is DMX at his VERY BEST doing HIM! If you'll are avid readers as well as movie buffs read E.A.R.L. The autobiography of DMX you'd understand that this particular story isn't so far fetched for MY DOG! (read that book)

Summary: "Never Die Alone" DVD Review!
Review: Rapper DMX is King David, a hostile and manipulative drug dealer who is rescued from a shooting by David Arquette's nieve wannabe reporter. Arquette becomes fascinated by a series of audio tapes documenting King's violent history but is unaware that the same dealers who he double-crossed are after him. DMX isn't exactly showing his range in playing yet another angry sadist who tries to find redemption (ala Belly) but at the very least, he's dynamic enough to keep us from being bored. Ernest Dickerson does a commenable job in the director's chair and James Gibson's adaption of Donald Goines' best-seller has enough plot twists to keep the viewer intrigued. Not a bad film at all but it's certainly not a strecth for X in the acting department. The DVD has a number of deleted scenes (most of Arquette's stuff hit the cutting room floor).

Summary: True, Graphic, and Compelling
Review: Those who insult this film obviously know nothing about this lifestyle or they'd realize that everything in this movie is how it is on the streets, mainly because the book was written by a pimp/gangster/hustler who knows what he's talking about.

Now I'd like to point out the very cool things in this film. The movie starts off putting DMX in the unstoppable character position where you think he'll be the only important one in the film. But in the first 10 or 15 minutes he dies and the film takes a different direction. It switches from King David(DMX) to the wannabe writer who witnesses his murder(David Arquette) and the young man who murdered David, Michael(Michael Ealy). At the beginning of the film you consider him a villain because he killed the cocky, anti-hero that's King David. But as the film progresses you learn more about this young man and he eventually becomes the hero in a way.

Now there is a rather high body count. Overall more than twenty people are killed in this movie and I'm just estimating. There's graphic scenes of drug overdoses, a scene where a man's head is blown off by a shotgun, and the same shotgun blows a teenage girl away. A man is killed while bathing in his hot tub(the shot is in slow motion so it feels Shakspeareian in a way).

The last thing I noticed is probably something that a lot of people didn't. A small, simple city soon becomes a hunting ground and in the end every character ends up playing an important part in some way.

Main point= this is a great film, graphic but great and very important to see. Drugs are very dangerous and this film shows the consequences along with the consequences of deceit and also a film of redemption
