Off the Hook

Summary: Driving around the potholes in the road of life.
Review: OFF THE HOOK tells the story of best friends Walter and Lorenzo, young men who grew up in the same projects and want to succeed as up-and-coming hip-hop artists, but are derailed by bumps that they place in their way. Walter, the more logical of the two, is going to school and working as a coach at a youth center, sticks to the plan for fame and fortune by working on the rap game and making demos. He's a very responsible individual who, ironically, makes a very irresponsible move and impregnates his girlfriend before his career can even take off. Lorenzo, on the other hand, want the duo to succeed, but won't leave the street life alone. Slingin' drugs will increase his pockets on the side and give him extra security until his big break. Waiting for them both is the crossroads where they must make a decision if they really want to reach their dreams, and what are they willing to change and/or give up to get it. The freshest part of this movie is the fact that none of the actors or actresses are players that I have ever seen in any film before, and that gave this flick a freshness not seen in many movies.
