Summary: In one word....OUTSTANDING!!!!
Review: This was a powerful movie that touched my heart like no other movie I've ever seen. It left me talking about it for weeks. Although it is long, and the beginning drags a little, this movie's ability to captivate you will grow stronger as the movie goes on and climax in the final thirty minutes which are worth the wait. My husband even loved this movie and he is extremely critical when it comes to movies. This movie is superbly acted. If I were handing out Academy Awards, Anthony Hopkins would be at the top of my list! His performance was powerful and very moving. Brad Pitt played what I would consider to be a difficult part very well. Supporting cast was excellent as well. Meet Joe Black has quickly become one of my favorite movies of all time!

Review: I just don't understand what all the critics (and customers here)who gave MJB bad reviews were thinking. Everyone I know, including adults and kids, men and women, loved it. It probably could have been shortened quite a bit, but I love it the way it is. Besides being totally entertaining, this movie has important lessons about appreciating and making the most of life, love of family, and unselfish love for your partner. I went through the whole gamut of emotions watching it. All the actors turned in superb performances, and it upsets me that they got so little critical recognition. When it didn't get any Oscar nods (I didn't expect it to, but I did hope), I was hoping it would get some attention at the MTV movie awards (it deserves best kiss, best actor for Pitt or Hopkins, and best actress or breakthrough performance for Forlani),and was sorely disappointed when it was again overlooked. Please give this movie a chance for life after box-office death!

Review: The cinematography is beautiful - I regret not seeing it in the theater. The movie pulled me into the story from the very beginning and had me totally immersed until the ending. People I know who've seen the movie either love it or hate it. Reviews are mixed, but they too are extremely positive or negative. Maybe the critics who gave it bad reviews focused too much on the 3 hour length and didn't consider that the movie used every minute to build the story lines. I loved the concept and the fantasy that goes with it, but there were actually several conflicts occuring simultaneously that needed to be worked out before the movie ended. The scenes were very polished with so many gestures, expressions, subtle comments and details. Although mostly a serious drama, there was plenty of comic relief mixed in to keep it light (mostly Joe's mannerisms and antics). Brad Pitt played the part of the character from the next world in a refreshing way. Someone who had been involved in taking many people from life to the "next place", but who had never experienced life's beauty, or wonderful, and painful experiences. He starts out being rather demading and when people treat him well, he becomes extremely polite and charming. Very interesting seeing "Joe" not quite used to having having a human body and experiencing so many little things for the first time. He enjoyed the experience yet maintained his authority when called for (pointing out that he was ultimately in control of the situation). He also showed appreciation to others for things that humans typically take for granted. While everyone else is taking the situation so seriously, Joe is constantly lighting up the screen with that "killer" smile of his. He is either extremely happy to be part of life and pursuing Bill's daughter or he's just very confident knowing he holds the cards in the game of Bill's future. One of the most beautiful scenes was the love scene by the pool. So much emotion and tenderness... it felt like a first time experience. For me the movie was a great way to accept death and the death of loved ones. It emphasized what a wonder world it is. If you've had passion in your life and made the most of it, you will eventually find that letting go is not so difficult. The movie was filled with drama, but had very positive messages and a wonderful ending. Many people who have seen the movie "got it". Those who didn't like it unfortunately didn't like the message or just lost interest in the topic. I question why they selected this movie if they knew the storyline. Anthony Hopkins is excellent, as usual. It was Pitt who surprised me -- I have not seen his films before, but now I want to check out some more. Still wish I had the chance to see the breathtaking photography on the big screen! This is my favorite DVD. I loved the music so much I got the sound track on CD too. ---> Skye

Review: Ahhhhh...Brad Pitt was so unbelievably HOT in this movie! It was just another example of his amazing talent! I didn't see "Meet Joe Black" right away because of the horrible reviews, but when I rented it I was so amazed! Was it 3 hours? It could have gone on and on forever for me!!! It brought out so many emotions from me! Happiness, laughter, sadness, and not to mention drooling over Brad Pitt!!! I will watch it over and over! I have seen it 3 times all ready, and not stoping any time soon!!! The chemistry between Susan and Joe (Death), was wonderful! It has romance, comedy, and every other emotion! The movie poster is hanging in my room right now with a huge picture of Brad Pitt!!! I loved his fasination with peanut butter too! It just added to his refreshing innocence! If Death comes looking like Brad Pitt, I'm ready now!

Review: I thought that "Meet Joe Black" was on of,(if not the best)movie that I have ever seen!!! I didn't see it in the movie therature because it got such bad reviews, but when I rented it, I was so amazed! It was the most unique, enchanting, wonderful movie that I have ever seen! I have the movie poster hanging in my room!!! It didn't seem like 3 hours to me! I could have sat there and watched Brad Pitt forever!!! I have loved him ever since "Interview with the Vampire", but he is so unbelievably GORGEOUS in this movie, and he adds a refresfing innocence to it!!! And I loved his fasination with peanut butter! It just added to the charm and romance of "Meet Joe Black"! If you havn't see it, why not?

Review: When I first saw the publicity that it was being given, I was very reluctant to watch it. It didn't spark any interest in me. One day I had to go in late and close at work so I was resting earlier on and had time to kill. (At least 3 hrs)So I decided to give it a chance. I was so moved by this movie! How could you not feel the magic between Pitt and Forlani when they walked away from each other at the coffee shop? This movie shows the awesome power of love and loss. Anthony Hopkins is wonderful as always, and he portrays a man that knows he has little time left in this world. And like most people, he wants to make things right before he goes. It will open your eyes to the amazing ability to love and sacrifice yourself for it. Death is portrayed wonderfully by Pitt. He is unfamiliar with how many things work in the world. Although he doesn't know it at first, he himself will succumb to the power of love. It is a must see, there have been few movies that take your heart and emotions on such a ride. If you have any belief in soul mates, destiny, or love...it will touch you!
