Summary: Excellent movie with two great actors.
Review: The story was very good. I really enjoyed the way that Brad Pitt and Anthnoy Hopkins played off each other. The girl was very good.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A show of substance!
Review: It's plot is excellent and thus you won't be bore by the long duration of the film. I would recommend this show to anyone and I must say,"you will enjoy it!" In addition, if you are Pitt's fan, then it is definitely a treat for you.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: WOW! A provative movie about life, love and death.
Review: A slow-moving but deeply provacative movie for those who enjoy a film with substance, MEET JOE BLACK will sweep the serious film-lover with its "human, all-too-human" look at the human situation and its affirmation of life and philosophy of the return. Here, even Death has a weakness for the beautiful. Brad Pitt is engaging as "the stranger" who discoveres that life is worth living. Don't listen to the critics. This very clever and most captivating movie is one to die for! Peanut butter anyone?

Summary: One of my favorite "classic" type movies!
Review: "You've given me more than anyone has a right to expect". How is that for one of the best compliments someone could give another person? It's one of the many reasons I loved this movie. Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt and Claire ? were so great. I cried and laughed and simply enjoyed myself! I keep checking the web for the reasonable price VHS release. Although it's worth the current $90, I can't justify that right now!

Enjoy it and ignore the critics who are negative about it.

Summary: Truly a rare gem of a movie!
Review: This movie has so much going for it with drama, suspense, mystery, romance, great music and subtle comedy.

The dialog, timing and acting retain the sophistication of a stage play without being stuffy.

If you're looking for special effects and action sequences, this movie will disappoint you. For those who appreciate thought provoking drama and character development, where all the action is in the dialog and acting you'll love this movie.

Sure, there are some hokey lines and unrealistic events, but the movie is art not documentary. Let yourself go and allow the scenes to capture your imagination.

This is one of those movies that you can see again and again despite it's three hour length. The main characters are wonderful, but most notable are Hopkins, Pitt and Forlani.

The tension and conflict between Hopkins and Pitt characters is in sharp contrast to the soft-spoken romance between Pitt and Forlani. Brad Pitt plays both roles so well with minimal dialog allowing his facial expressions to say it all. Pitt projects an extremely confident "death angel" who is forceful with Hopkins as they have discussions as "gentlemen". With Forlani, Pitt is the naive and innocent "Joe" and plays up his character role with comic reaction to various situations as well as he does the romantic parts as someone not quite sure what to do. As Forlani puts it "diffident in such a seductive way, yet powerful".

Martin Brest is a master at movie making with his attention to detail and perfectly timed performances.

The music sets the tone for each scene in a way that adds to the emotion of the visuals and dialog. It really draws you in.

Although a little melancholy at times, I wouldn't consider this movie a tearjerker. It's a beautiful work of art.

Summary: The best movie I've seen in a long, long time.Deep & moving.
Review: This movie left me with a gut-wrenching yearning in the depths of my soul. Yearning for the deep, passionate love that can be experienced between a man and woman. I thought that this movie was done in such good taste as opposed to most of the mindless, tasteless twaddle that's put out now, especially when it comes to sexual intimacy. This movie showed the sacredness of true intimacy as an act of love and the innocence and awe of one experiencing that for the first time.

I also loved watching the relationship portrayed between Bill and and his daughter, Susan. How I wish I had a father like that. This movie really did the job for me in taking me out of reality and into fantasy for a while. I know life must really be like that for a few fortunate people. I absolutely adore this movie. The actors were fabulous. This movie touched me deeply and I will definitely buy it.

Summary: Don't listen to critics
Review: I gave up listening to critics a long time ago. Buy this movie and you will see why.

Summary: Brad does it again to his stunning talent as an actor!
Review: Brad Pitt's performance with this film, leads yet to another triumph. This man has such extreme talent wrapped in all that charisma brings on another best seller. Way to go Brad!

Summary: Great romantic movie!
Review: Some people say the movie was too long. Not for me. I like it so much I kept repeating chapters on DVD (especially the scene from the coffee shop where they kept missing each others glances) even before I saw the whole movie. Overall, I watched it for 4 hours and loved every minute of it.

Summary: Who is this beauty, Claire Forlani?
Review: Yes, this movie is too long. Yes, it runs out of ideas and steam and reason about half way through. Yes, it has Anthony Hopkins mailing in a performance; although a mailed in Hopkins is better than most people's best.

What it does have is the presence of Claire Forlani, and that with a decent performance by Brad Pitt is enough to make this movie worth watching. Forlani makes art out of listening. Her intensity and subtle empathy come not when she speaks but when others speak. When her lover, Joe Black, speaks there is no one else in her universe, and nothing else but their love. And behind all this is her intellect, that unfakeable thing behind the eyes.

Yes, Claire Forlani makes this mess worth watching.
