Summary: Movie Magic
Review: This film reminds intelligent moviegoers of just what movies CAN be when film makers decide to give us a rest from chase scenes, car crashes, ill-educated and vapid characters, and sophomoric plot lines. It's a pleasure to spend 3 hours with literate, polished, well-dressed, beautiful actors who portray characters who value themselves and others. Granted, the film could easily have had 20 minutes snipped from it, thus sparing the audience the long minutes where the actors merely stare at each other endlessly; certainly those long moments do little to advance the plot. But so much more is good about the movie that this can be tolerated. Pitt is superb as Death learning, and understanding, how beautiful life is. And it's extremely refreshing to have a respite from moviedom's perpetual bashing of big business and instead, to see a successful buinessman portrayed as a hero of integrity. Sir Anthony Hopkins could not have been better, or more at home, in this role. The movie deserves better than it received at the hands of the critics, and shame on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for ignoring this beautiful film, its story, cast, and production values.

Summary: A "black" dramedy
Review: That's the only way to describe this hard to describe film. Pitt is good, but not great. Forlani is a welcome site. Anthony Hopkins deserves the kudos.

I saw this film not knowing what to expect. I wasn't disappointed. Pitt's sudden demise early in the film was a real shock to the system (the victim of a pedestrian accident, the scene of the accident is unexpected and shocking). I kept wondering how and when Pitt was going to appear later.

Pitt, as Death, has some humorous moments as he tries things for the first time. Sometimes it works well, other times Pitt looks like a dazed teen.

Hopkins does a wonderful job of acting. His character is prone to wonderful outbursts of anger that are ably performed by Hopkins.

The film keeps you guessing and has a few twists and turns along the way. While some may not like the 3-hour length, it never seemed long to me.

Summary: Oh dear oh dear
Review: Quite THE most tedious (what seemed like) 6 hours of my life. WHY was Pitt in this film when he can't act. The leading Lady was on the verge of tears right the way through the film. Oh, I hated everyone in it apart from the Older Sister. Boring, long, far too overly emotional. Yuk I hate it, and I regret wasting my time watching it.

Review: This movie was really really good. It has been so underrated however by endless blows by critic after critic. It is the first movie that has hade me in tears for 2 years.

Summary: Need I say more than, wonderful
Review: I don't know how many times I have watched this movie. And every time I watch it, it never looses a bit of its greatness. No one can doubt Hopkins is an incredible actor; and he certainly brought his talents to the stage in this one. Every movie I have seen him in has been great. His characters always seem to be very similar in type: intelligent, intiguing, and certainly charming. As Bill Parrish, Hopkins definitely showed his stuff. Brad Pitt...I have loved every movie of Pitt's I have seen. Seven, Legends of the Fall, Fight Club...all stunning. While he seems to be a little absorbed in himself, he brings a great show to the screen. As "death" I am sure this was a tough role; but Pitt put it on like he was "death" himself. Clair Forlani...beautiful, beautiful, and you got it, beautiful. Her character's almost youthful naivity and innocence fit her incredibly in this movie. Didn't see much as to why she fell in love with the mysterious character of "death." But realize it was more the man in the coffee shop than "death," with whom she fell in love. Tears rolled down my cheeks the first time I watched it, and the last time, and everytime in between. If you get this one, expect a little bit of a overly light-hearted love story, but let your heart run with it. Enjoy.

Summary: Too boring, and long
Review: This movie was not very good. Unless you're female then you probably thought it was awesome because of Brad Pitt. I figure the only good part of the movie was when Brad Pitt got hit by the two cars. That was hilarious!

Summary: a wonderful old fashioned movie
Review: This movie contains one of the most beautiful and sensous love scenes of all time. No talking, no bumping, or thrusting. Both actors did a lovely job of expressing themselves through their eyes and facial expressions. What great acting! Of course there is the obvious plot story, but this movie is also about the love of a father for his daughters, and the triumph of good over evil. The scene in which Joe Black reveals himself as an undercover FBI agent is priceless. You really need to WATCH this movie and pay attention, so those of you who like car chases and naked bodies don't bother. This movie is like the classic movies of the 40's and 50's starring actors like Katherine Hepburn. It is beautifully acted and filmed and there is a lot of attention to detail, the viewer knows exactly what the characters are thinking even though they don't speak. Of course Brad is breathtaking. This is one of his best.

Summary: If you didn't like it, you didn't pay attention
Review: I am delighted that there are so many intense and sincere people out there that had the brains and sincerity to enjoy a film of such integrity. Aside from the fantasy, this movie is one to lose yourself in. The musical score is one of the finest ever recorded, and matches the scenes perfectly. Be warned, I did not like this film the first time that I watched it (that is because I was messing around the house and not paying real attention) When I finally did sit down and watch and listen, I had 3 hours of intense pleasure. I have watched this film now no less than 30 times, and every time that I watch it, I find something more to enjoy. Both of the scenes with the Island woman are fantastic! and bear a true realization of life and love. I think that to miss this film is the same as missing other greats such as Dances With Wolves, Braveheart

Summary: A gorgeous masterpiece!
Review: "Meet Joe Black" is an absolutely amazing film! The acting is great all around, and the cinematography is truly stunning. The story is terrific, and Martin Brest's directing is superb. Its 3 hours will be too long for casual viewers, but open-minded viewers will undoubtedly find "Meet Joe Black" as wonderful.
