Summary: Sam Neill still has it - Romantic, Quirky flick
Review: This is a lovely little "quirky" movie with a 50-something Sam Neill proving once again that age does not limit sexiness and appeal. Though probably not for everyone-- your mind must be OPEN to other than normal possibilities. I found the landscape and naturalness of the photography to lend itself well to the story and atmosphere. And, it is hard to beat the locations of New Zealand for viewing and variety. Cudos to the new film company, Huntaway Films for their first feature film!

Summary: Very bad movie, save your money!
Review: This movie is about a stupid man named Balki from a country called Meepos (which is supposed to be Greece) who moves in with his distant cousin Larry in Chicago. Larry is a nervous man with no lips and Balki teaches him an important lesson at the end, but who cares? There is a strong homoerotic theme if you're into that sort of thing, as the relationship between Balki and Larry is similar to the male friendships in the early movies of Greg Araki and Todd Haynes, but nothing much happens in this movie except for Balki's lessons to Larry. Halfway through the movie the two cousins try hitting on a couple of stewardesses that live across the hall from them, but in the end Balki and Larry only want each other. What a tacky movie! Also, the eighties fashions (dorky sweaters, big hair, Members Only jackets) really make the movie seem outdated. ...

Summary: Not one for....well, anbody
Review: This story is interesting. I did like the storyline up to the point where the guy was frozen in his tracks and started appearing everywhere. The cinimatography of this movie is very bad. It might have been good about 10 years ago. The sound quality is absolutely terrible, but I did like the main tune theme thing.
I live really close to the places that this movie was shot (Here on the West Coast of New Zealand!), and the only reason I went to see this movie was because I wanted to see my town on screen.
I went to the South Island Premier and met Gaylene Preston, I can see why the movie is strange...considering she was wearing some badly knitted top and a red possum over her neck. lol.

Anyway, I give this movie 2 starts because the story strays from the normal cliched story you see in many Hollywood movies today...The storyline was strange, but enjoyable....if only someone else directed it.

Summary: Hard to stay awake...
Review: Though interesting at times, I had to force myself to finish this show, which seemed like it did not drive the plot home enough. Whatever the plot was supposed to be.
Man woos woman from bar, go to deserted island where she is kept "prisoner"...then he dies from a stab wound while they are enroute back to the mainland...then shen ends up back on the island, only to run into some other bar dude who's shack this other guy was renting. They start talking only after she tries killing him also. Finally get tired of having body of kidnapper in freezer and so they drop him into the sea...then go off and get married. Through much of this time she keeps seeing the kidnapper, who's wish is now fulfilled because she is in love with him. She talks to him a lot and even dances with his ghost at her wedding party.

STUPID STUPID STUPID..and don't even tell me this thing has some sort of intellectual meaning I do not understand. Just poor B-grade movie. Not even worth renting, as I found out. Like I said I had to force myself to finish it, only to be further disappointed!
