Summary: A wonderful surprise for all the wrong reasons.
Review: I rented this video because I am a fan of Brian Krause (Leo Wyatt of Charmed). As his name does not appear in the credits on the box, I suspected that his role would be small. In fact, he was only on screen a few minutes, and I don't recall ever seeing his face (I recognized him by his voice). However, I was by no means disappointed with my choice.

The story is engaging. I have always been drawn into literary works which deal with male bonding and its accompanying issues. The two principal characters; Sonny and Anthony, come from broken homes. Each struggles to survive in the wake of a tragic accident which claimed the life of a close friend. Additionally, each of these young men is searching to find a place for himself in a hostile reality in which the local entertainment consists of street brawling, mugging, car-jacking, and making out with the rich girls from across the tracks.

Anthony; a promising young writer, recognizes that remaining in his present environment would condemn him to a life barely worth living. However, his efforts to escape are hampered by the financial insolvency of his widowed working mother, and his best friend who fears that there is no place in the world for "white trash" like him, except exactly where he is.

Jeremy Sisto is extraordinary in the role of Sonny. He is strikingly attractive, his voice is commanding, and he has a screen presence which is irrestible. I cannot recommend this film too highly.

Summary: Impressive Independent Film
Review: I was really impressed with this film. It is a story about poor families and troubled kids in the deep South. Jeremy Sisto is an incredible actor with the kind of range that Tom Hanks (who has played a retarded guy, a lawyer with AIDS, an astronaut, a castaway), Sally Field (who played a textile worker, a girl with multiple personalities, and an assortment of devoted moms)and Jodie Foster (who played a rape victim, a federal agent, the mom of a gifted child, and many other very diverse roles) have. Sisto has played Jesus in the mini, Vassago the Satanist in Hideaway, a he/she in The Crew (which I watched recently on Showtime and was totally shocked and stupefied and thrilled with the performance) and now he completely shifts gears again in Trash as a very hard headed, hot tempered teenager who suffers with a lot of problems. Two friends named Sonny and Michael just lost their buddy who got shot in the head by accident. They can't seem to cope with the grisley death, so as time goes by, Sonny loses his grip while Michael struggles to keep Sonny's feet on the ground. This is a very authentic production, shot in Florida, and most of the cast is unknowns, exept Sisto, who is barely getting to be known (he is on Six feet under now).
I didn't think the ending needed to be so violent. That little boy with Down's syndrome was so cute, but why did he have to be shot and killed? It didn't add to the story a bit. Otherwise, the rest of the movie was brilliant to put it lightly.

It's an emotional roller-coaster ride that explodes upon social class differences, emotional abandonment, the bonds of ever-lasting friendship and the sacrifices one will make for another in the hope for them to live a better life.

It's a must see!
