Summary: Just Nice
Review: The thing I enjoyed most about this movie is that we are shown both the highs and the lows of these character's lives. And although there has been much criticism of their narcissism, I find these people very real and very refreshing. I feel that Whit Stillman captures a class of people, a time of life, a social milieu, and a part of history with such dead on accuracy that I was just in awe as the movie unfolded.

Summary: Absolute pants. Avoid this movie like the plague.
Review: Surely the most overrated movie of all time. I had heard rave reviews about Last Days of Disco, and was eager to watch it. I saw it as part of a school trip and was bored within the first ten minutes. More interesting than the film was the competition Alex and I had trying to hide under chairs! (Yes, we were that bored.) We couldn't wait for the film to end. Our feelings were shared with the other fifty or so students on the trip, and all the teachers! If you watch this you must really want to waste your money.

Summary: This movie gives a fresh, new look to the end of disco.
Review: When I rented the movie "The Last Days of Disco," I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. Being a fan of the disco era and the music, I rushed out and bought the soundtrack the next day. The acting was superb, especially that of Chloe Sivigny. I wasn't familiar with her work before, but she is definitely an up-and-coming actress. This is a great party movie for people interested in movies that aren't about big boats sinking or the world ending.

Summary: Disco nugget!!
Review: One of the most entertaining, colourful and true representations of the Disco genre. The characters are funny and realistic, you either love them or hate them for all the right reasons and the story, simple but effective is wonderfully weaved, unfolds in a bittersweet way but leaves a pleasant aftertaste. An underrated little nugget!! You need to see this movie, alone or with friends..it works!!

Summary: Thoroughly enjoyable as entertainment
Review: I have read various reviews of this film and find most to be articulate and praiseworthy. I enjoyed the movie, both for the story and music. I remember those years vividly and though the characters were self-absorbent they were the lead in to the "me" generation. The story was simple but moving. The characters were alive and the depth of their neoursis was apparent in all. Not many movies live up to expectations- this one did.

Summary: Last Days works as a talkie
Review: Another review of this film lead me to pipe in. Another has suggested that this film does not work as a "talkie". Being a writer like another reviewer here, (as if that matters at all) I can tell you that this film does work. While I would not argue with anyone claiming Metropolitan or Barcelona to be superior to this film, Last Days does work as an intellegent film with entertaining dialoge.

Summary: I love the disco.....I love the disco......
Review: I saw this movie a couple of times and was impressed in a few ways. The script was very witty and creative;the disco music was a pleasant respite from the BEE GEES and K.C. & the Sunshine Band. Also I couldn't keep my eyes off of Chloe Sevigny. She was mesmerizing. This movie was on a par with METROPOLITAN and much better than BARCELONA. On the other hand, does anybody really think these people live in N.Y. I lived in N.Y. and real New Yorkers would kill these people. O well it's a parody and just a movie. But enjoyable.

Summary: Run away. Run far, far away.
Review: Being a writer myself, I can appreciate the talkie movie. Your Friends and Neighbors is a perfect exampe of a talkie movie that works. The Last Days of Disco is not. The dialogue isn't very witty, the subject matter is boring, the characters lack any flare, and plot is merely a structure to hold together countless uninspired conversations. Watch Barcelona or Metropolitan, much better films. Leave this one alone.

Summary: Witty dialogue and Kate Beckinsale make this movie
Review: Whit Stillman has a way with dialogue. this is the funniest and most entertaining of the new disco trend (skip Boogie Nights and really skip 54) Kate Beckinsale gives a knockout performance. her American accent is flawless
