Summary: Excellent movie, insightful commentary
Review: This is a great film. Enough said. What impressed me about the DVD was the director's commentary. If you're at all interested in film-making, you would do well to listen to Anderson talk about his film. He really has an interesting take on life, and it's clear that he reveres both the actors who worked for him and the whole process of creating a movie. He also did an interview on Terry Gross' "Fresh Air" that focused on the making of this movie.

Summary: Boogie Kicks Bootie!
Review: I waited eagerly for the release of this film into the theaters. I wasn't disappointed! Boogie Nights is truly an instant "classic". I consider Gone With the Wind and Sunset Boulevard to be the two greatest films ever made - Boogie Nights goes in the top 10 though. Talk about great dialogue and great acting. It is terribly funny without poking fun at its characters. Yes! We really did dress, talk, dance, and act that way back in the 70's. It's like looking into a window through time. I really think this movie is top notch. I look forward to anything that Anderson directs in the future.

Summary: Great movie and great DVD
Review: This is a movie that you can watch over and over again and bring away something new each time. The DVD has some of the best extra features that I have ever seen. I hightly recommend it for anyone's collection.

Summary: THis movie was good, but lacked something.
Review: The movie was a good one. It displayed the true life of a porn star. We all have our beliefs that porn stars live a 24/7 life of sex. This is mnot true and this movie shows it. I suggest that anyone go and see it if they have bad feelings toward porn stars.

Summary: Hands down one of the all time best american films, ever.
Review: As a strugging actor it seems like one of the true joys is talking about great films with my other out of work actor friends. We talk about how much we wished we could have been a part of such a major achievement and work in such a literate and gripping story. For me a true great film is one that manages to get me to feel like I'm in a time warp and never lose my attention. If i had one problem it was that in american films there always seems to have to be some bull---t religious ending where the characters lives have to come crashing down because they don't live a so called "normal life".

Summary: A MUST FOR YOUR COLLECTION.
Review: This is one of the most well written movies that I have seen in a long time. The extra features on this DVD are excellent, I really love the deleted scenes and the director's commentary thoughout the movie, it is really worth watching the movie again with the director's commentary on. Yes, this movie is based on the pornography industry in the 70's and 80's and it could offend some poeple, but if you look over all of that and look into the characters that P.T. Anderson is trying to show us, you will see all of thier different troubles and conflicts. I would recomend this movie to adults and mature teenagers only. I enjoyed the movie a lot, not because of the controversial subject, but because it was an exellently played out movie. Go and get this one now.

Summary: Fascinating development of protagonist (Mark Wahlberg).
Review: The flow of of the film was fascinating, as it progressed through a decade of time. The ups and downs of life were depicted, and especially the coming of age of the male lead. Well acted and the cinematography was unique and completly enjoyable. Great.

Summary: Finally on DVD and in glorious widescreen!
Review: One of the best movies of 1997 and most ground breaking. Boogie Nights takes you on a roller coaster ride through the pornography industry in the late 70's and early 80's. In the style of Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas and Robert Altman's Nashville, P.T. Anderson whips and whirls his audience through a wonderful story of lust and greed and the price for such sins. Upon its release on video in September of 1997, I was devastated at the pan and scan version that drastically handicapped the directorial style of Anderson. On DVD's widescreen option the movie leaps back to life! This edition also brings forth nine deleted scenes that are each hysterical and fun.

Summary: An up close and personal look at the 70s porn industury
Review: When I first went to see this movie I was quite dubious. I wasn't too happy to be 'paying' to see a movie about the porn industry (Not my favourite subject matter) with Mark Walhberg and Burt Reynolds who weren't two of my favourite actors at the time but all that has changed I was suprised to see it was an Excellent film. This isn't solely about the porn industury this is about the people behind it and their lives. Mark Walhberg is suberb and Burt Reynolds is at one of his best, the rest (Julianne Moore, Heather Graham, John C. Reilly and many others) hold their own respectivily. The opening scene at a nightclub which is just one long cut is excellent veiwing and one powerful emotionally raw scene where Dirk (Eddie at the time) gets thrown out of home with only the clothes he's wearing on his back makes for good veiwing. All in all it's a excellent film and is well worth the watch. A DVD extra is a commentary from the director. If you ask me this should have swept the Oscars, instead of silly, stupid no-story Titanic. This film focuses on 'real' people's feelings instead of special effects. But even so you don't need a few gold statues to say whether this a good film or not this is excellent with Oscars or without

Summary: One of the Best Ever
Review: I have seen Boogie Nights about 20 times. I saw it when it first came out and I thought it was one of the best movies I had seen in a long time. I have watched it many times since then. I think Mark Wahlberg's performence is amazing, he really plays his part well. As well Heather Graham is great too. Burt Reynolds is in it as well and is great. Overall, if you are under consideration of buying this movie I really urge you too. It's gonna be a cult classic in a few years, and you won't regret buying it either. The acting is great, the story line is great, and the entertainment factor is incredable.
