Summary: hey hey hey what is going on here?
Review: first of all laugh all you want but i actually thought that this movie wasn't all that bad.i do think that gina gershon played her part really well.i also think she could have played elizabeth berkley's role too.i thought the movie was way better than striptease.i've seen both the r-rated and nc-17 versions and i saw no difference.i also didn't see much reason to rate it nc-17 either.the funny thing was i was sitting there thinking to myself, you know mr.belding and screach got to work with liz all through her teen years and they probally saw this movie.hell they probally own it!!!!-jason zabka

Summary: The feel good movie of the 90's
Review: If ever there was a movie that gave me boner,it was this. Not only was I aroused the whole time,I really enjoyed the plot turns and twists,as trampy nomi malone tries to make it big.I think this is Kyle maclaughlins finest performance to date.He was only better in the Flintstones.

Summary: Too bad ALL horrible films can't be this good!
Review: Yes, it was terrible. But hey, Elizabeth Berkley really DOES make a really awesome-looking stripper! And Gina Gershon plays decadence so very well! Whenever she and Berkley were on the screen together, I paid close attention! Other than that, it was mostly awful.

Summary: There's bad trash , there's good trash...
Review: ...and then there is great trash. This movie is GREAT trash. Showgirls is one of the most unfairly reviewed movies of all time. People who criticized the writing, acting, plot, etc., are just a bunch of curmudgeons who have forgotten that not every movie has to be Henry V. This movie is beyond criticism--like sex itself, there's a point where you just have to surrender and give in to the experience. I enjoyed this movie a lot more than the 1995 Best Picture winner--Braveheart. True, a lot of body parts were flying in Braveheart, but with Showgirls the parts are a lot better-looking, and they stayed attached to the body. Yes, you can nitpick this movie to death, but the plain fact is that everybody I know who saw it--men and women--said they found it at least entertaining. Trust me, you will be amused.

Summary: Sleazy, inept sort-corn porn, but a real hoot(er)!
Review: Okay, okay, nothing like good old fashioned skin flick from time to time. The plot is risible, Elizabeth Berkeley is beautiful but predatory in her role, it has a soap opera level plot, and a supporting cast that should have performed under aliases. This is a true camp masterpiece that owes an intellectual debt to Russ Meyer. I loved it; but I would bring it home in a plain brown wrapper! This is perfect for a fraternity house late night movie.

Summary: Technically impressive, but not very enlightening
Review: From a technical standpoint, this movie is quite impressive -- great photography, great choreography, great sound, and gorgeous women. But as far as being an accurate portrayal of what a showgirl¹s life is really like, I feel it¹s a failure. It gave me the feeling it was written by an avid fan of this sort of entertainment, who was relying solely on imagination and conjecture. I realize I¹m on shaky ground here, being no expert myself on what happens behind the scenes of the adult entertainment business. It just seemed like every twist and turn the plot took, including the brutal rape sequence, left me feeling like I could have imagined it myself. There wasn¹t one detail that made me feel the least bit enlightened. Overall, this movie ends up being not much more than another piece of adult entertainment itself, albeit an impressive one.

Summary: A Misunderstood Gift To Cinema
Review: One day this brilliant film will be appreciated for what it is: a savage, entertaining satire of American culture. Director Verhoeven has applied his wonderfully warped world view to our country too well- Americans are offended! But this film (believe it or not) was a decent financial and critical sucess in almost every country in the world except our own. It is far from being a "bad camp masterpiece". The film represents so much more. If you are offended by sex, violence, or a lack of patriotism, that's fine. But to say that this film is unintelleigent or poorly made, (it's as technically perfect as anything Sirk ever made,) is absurd. If that was all you came away with after watching SHOWGIRLS, then the film outsmarted you. To really understand where Verhoeven is coming from, check out his cruel melodrama SPETTERS, or even last year's soap opera space-epic STARSHIP TROOPERS.

Summary: SO BAD IT'S THE BEST
Review: Showgirls is one of my all-time favorite films. Yes, it is bad: the acting is not even one-dimensional, the writing is hilarious (though the story line is not improbable), and the direction is heavy-handed. I can't really imagine a film like this being made any other way. This is about Vegas, after all. I mean if you're going to hear a line like "She learned it alright, but they don't teach it in any school" delivered in complete earnestness then it must be Las Vegas, right? But somewhere beneath all of this lurk interesting ideas. The writer and director obviously had some smarts -- the main character is young, hot-headed and hungry. So they (of course) made her physical appetite insatiable. Her food of choice: meat -- hamburgers to be exact. Look for metaphors, themes and imagery like this throughout the film. Sometimes they hit you over the head, and sometimes they're more subtle. Anyway, it's a hilarious film -- one worth pulling out when you're in the mood for a good laugh.

Summary: Not as bad as you may think
Review: This film is not as bad as the critics and the public say. This movie bares all and holds nothing back. Elizabeth Berkley's acting was sometimes repulsive(and well just plained sucked sometimes). This does sometimes feels like its just trying too hard to glamourous. This was also the first NC-17 film to be released nationwide (in all major cities). MPAA Rating: NC-17 for nudity, strong kinky sex, pervasive strong language, graphic sexual dialogue, a graphic rape scene, drug use and some violence. (Also available in a somewhat edited -R- Rated Version) Intended for mature audiences(both the R & NC-17 version)!

Summary: ABSOLUTLEY AWFUL ---> I LOVED IT!!!
Review: This is truly one of the worst movies ever made, if not THE worst! But, that is exactly why I loved it. The acting is TERRIBLE and there is so much nudity... I was more shocked to see people wearing cloths. Nonetheless, this is a must have movie for hours of endless laughing and stupidity... you'll love it!
