Summary: 100% Campy Entetainment
Review: This film allows you to enter a parallel universe where Las Vegas is sexually charged and menacing. A land through the "Phantom Toll Booth". There is no need to try to follow the plot as it is wafer thin and obvious.

No, you can spend your time indulging in the campy dialogue, the energy charged erotic dancing, Dave Stewart's perfectly suited music, and the fit bodies on the screen.

10 out of 10 for entertainment value. But Paul Verhoeven was right to end his relationship with Joe Eszterhas after this. Minus 5 for overt and shallow misogyny.

Summary: One Thousand Standing Ovations!
Review: "Showgirls" is one film that is truly on a par with no other. The only other musical that even comes close is perhaps Funny Lady, or Xanadu (if you have rollerskated competitively). Nomi Malone(played by the exuberant Liz Berkley)is a down-on-her-luck trollip who sets her sights on Vegas in order to made good. But nothing, and I mean NOTHING can prepare you for what's in store for this young turk! Talk about two steps forward, one step back (no pun intended)! My favorite part is definitely when Nomi takes a job as a scantilly clad rodeo clown in an outdoor Vegas circus in order to make ends meet. I think we can all relate to jobs like these in our hectic lives, but I digress.

Gina Gershon also provides spunk and wit as Nomi's seasoned yet agile mentor. (can you say love/hate relationship?) And my hat goes off to Kyle McLachlan, for his superb performance as a classy (and realistic) Las Vegas entertainment director. His steamy love scene with Mizz Berkley was the inspiration for me to install an out-of-ground swimming pool in my very own back yard, (complimented by a few hand-made Flamingo's I fashioned myself out of pipecleaners and tissue paper). IF YOU ONLY BUY ONE VIDEO THIS YEAR, LET IT BE THIS ONE! I LOVE YOU AMAZON.COM, SUPERSTORE OF THE NEW MILLENIUM!

Summary: The most erotic, best acted, well-thought-of 90's movie!
Review: Elizabeth Berkely has no flaw on her delicious body what so ever! This movie was just outstanding! Everything made sense to me at the end of the movie! There was just something about this movie that makes me want to come back for more. It is truly and must-see! Not only was I arroused by all of the great nudity, but I also thought that there was an excellent story behind the movie! I loved it!

My only complaint was that the rape scene near the end of the movie was a little too hardcore and exposed. It was a bit horrifying! It made me feel very sad. But, this movie made me feel great and I would recommend this erotic movie to anyone! Don't even worry about the NC-17 Rating, it was great! Elizabeth Berkeley, (formally Jesse on "Saved By The Bell") is the hottest chick ever!

Summary: I WANT SHOWGIRLS ON DVD...
Review: Showgirls happens to be one of my favorite movies. Campy? Ridiculous? Maybe, but there is something about this movie that wants me to watch it over and over again. Could not wait to see the movie on its release date. Am a dancer myself in Las Vegas and can safely say that the backstage goings-on are NOTHING like real life. My personal favorite scene is when Nomi auditions for a spot in the chorus of GODDESS. Know the dialogue by heart. And would give anything to be an extra in SHOWGIRLS 2...

Summary: WORTH MORE THAN SAID!
Review: Showgirls is a movie that really divides you, some of its elements are fantastic other not that much,i believe if they were careful in some points it would be greater. The dance routines are fantastic and fast, the bodies great, the music is really really good, the plot is great but they could have modified some scenes, for example the rape scene in the end could have been a little more covered not so broadened, the actors are very well chosen and it shows reality and fast rhytms,i do not know if reality is really so bad or that people involved in such a life are so ambitious and ruthless. But i think it worth more than what is said, many people say bad stuff but i do not think they really paid attention more than what meets the eye.Check it that is my advice.

Summary: It's the VALLEY OF THE DOLLS of the 90's
Review: You have to watch this with the closed caption, because you will constantly be saying, "wait a minute, they didn't just say that!" I tell you, there are lines in this movie that only a monkey with a typewriter could have typed.

Okay, the entire movie doesn't work at all. It doesn't make sense. The ending throws all logic out the window (did the whole movie take place over one weekend?) And, everyone who befriends Nomi is a moron. She's just unbearable. And her lips are out of this orbit. But... this is so much fun you will watch it again and again. HOWEVER, WARNING: After the eleventh viewing you will suddenly realize, this is really really a bad movie. IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY. So watch it ten times and then give it away before it gets ruined for you.

Of course the most classic line in this movie is: MUST BE WEIRD NOT HAVING ANYONE COME ON YOU ANYMORE.

God Bless Celluloid!

Summary: Give Nomi a Chance!
Review: This movie is one of those movies that you get to love the more you watch it! You begin to notice all the little nuances that in retrospect are rather clever. I don't want to give the plot away. Street smart girl claws her way to the top. The dialogue and sex scenes are cheesy but it reminds me of those 80s exploitation movies such as "Savage Streets." Think of "Showgirls" as the 90s exploitation film. Which, if you've noticed, are becoming extinct. The moral of the story...whether you're a cheap hooker or a glamorous Las Vegas Showgirl, you wind up selling yourself. It's up to you, though, at what price.

Summary: i liked it......
Review: I thought this was a great movie. I thought Elizabeth B. did a great job. I felt that some of the lines could have been better, but I still thought it was a great movie.

Summary: Yeah, it was bad to a point but who cares?
Review: When Showgirls first came out on video, I was curious as to why it got such a bad review and for the NC-17 rating. So I bought it. At first I didn't understand the plot but after watching several more times it started to make sense. Elizabeth Berkeley may have overdramatized her role as Nomi, but she had spunk! I liked Henrietta at the Cheetah, as well as Crystal. Pretty soon after watching it more times than I care to count, I started quoting some scenes from the movie. I liked the dancing, the costumes, everything! See the movie and decide for yourself!Oh and another thig I want to add: I finally purchased the DVD version. I like this version better than the VHS because of the quality of the movie as well as the sound. My favorite part was the dance rehearsal where Marty introduced Nomi to the gals. I played that scene over and over again because it's fun! I wouldn't practice dancing with heels and makeup though. LOL I was sorely disappointed by the brief featurette because I wanted more details, more behind the scenes cuts and interviews from those actors who were involved in the project. I must also comment that I was embarrassed by the negative reviews it got from those bigwig critics.I felt like it was me who wrote the script! Only the NY Times gave it a satisfactory review. Anyway for a good laugh and something to make you feel better, rent or buy this movie...I did! :)

Summary: underrated film is not that bad, actually, its almost good
Review: what do people find about this movie that is so bad. I liked it. it's not the best movie ever made, but it is fun to watch and the performances are not that bad. The only reason thsi movie got three stars insted of four, actually, i give it three and a half, was because of the truly lousy ending. That was the only flaw in an otherwise good, visually dazzling film. I liked it.
