Rating: Summary: My All Time Fav Review: I love this movie so much. I watched it for the first time when I was in 6th grade and it has never been shaken from the top. I guess it's the fact that I related at that age, and as I have gotten much older, I have found it to be more inspiring and briliant. The acting, which I still shutter from, is amazing. The script based on the novella "The Body" by Stephen King was top notch(it is in the collection by King called Different Seasons along with Shawshank Redemption and Apt Pupil). I guess the best thing about it (and yes I am going to be cheesy) is the lessons it continually teaches me about friendship and a sense of belonging. I won't lie.., I feel that Gordy and Chris are some of my closest friends now :) I have seen this film way too many times! Pinky swear! *parents note: This is a great movie, the only drawback for you is the language and there is a lot of it.
Rating: Summary: Jenny's review of Stand By Me Review: Well I realy enjoyed this movie it is one of my favorites. It's about these 4 boys who go on a trip to discover a dead boys body on the way they learn more about each and them selves. Personaly I would have to say that I loved it, it was great. I think anybody who reads this should go rent it if they haven't already!
Rating: Summary: a masterpiece in story telling and movie making Review: This movie is a complete marvel in capturing the true way youths are when together without supervision. A tale of searching for something not exactly spoken, STAND BY ME is the journey of 4 boys looking for answers to the uncertainties of life. Gordon (our narrator) is troubled by his brothers tragic death and his parents lack of interest in him since the accident. The part when the 4 friends are laying around the fire discussing trivial things is accurate with that nostalgia that all people have when remembering their childhood. One thing our narrator learns in the end is that although he hadn't seen or spoken with his best friend of youth in years he still felt him to be his close friend. A excellent movie and highly recommended. Oh and moms, do understand that your boys talk like that when their together.
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Film Review: DANG! This is one of the greatest movies of all time. It has action, comedy, drama , and a little bit of suspense. It is movie that you should show to your kids, despite the R rating for profanity. The reason is that this movie will teach lessons and inspire friendships. SEE IT TODAY, if not tomorrow :-)
Rating: Summary: The best movies about friendship ever made! Review: I love this movie. The plot is great, the acting is wonderful and River Phoenix is the best.
Rating: Summary: Simply The Best Review: The most important things are the hardest things to say - but here goes anyway....... Stand By Me is one of the greatest movies of all time, dealing with that magical time between childhood and adulthood. A period in life we've all experienced and an epoch we can never recapture. There's hardly any story to the movie - four pubescent boys have this crazy idea of going off on a trek to find a dead kid's body. Only Stephen King could have thought of that, huh? But man! It's the detail that's the killer. Bags of those little details from your past you thought you'd forgotten, come alive again in this atmospheric movie. It's kinda like going back in time. Back there - you know to those long summer days that seemed to last forever. Gone and out of reach maybe, but still very much alive in the windmills of your mind. You just gotta see this one. Better still - buy it now on DVD. I did. My first region 1 and what a difference. Picture quality is mind-blowing. Sound excellent - crisp as a box of Cheerios. Hey! You can even see all the little blemishes on the actors' skin. The colors are vibrant and extremely realistic. The whole thing just comes alive on your TV screen. My only regret is that they never made a few sequels. A 'must-have' for cinema lovers everywhere.
Rating: Summary: THE Best! Review: This movie is the best. I watched it like 5 months ago in Oregon and I didn't know the name. And I went back here and I kept wanting to look it up and I was watching the Goonies one day and I saw Corey Feldman and I looked him up and found the movie. I thought that the movie, Lost Boys was it but... UGHH I'm so happy!
Rating: Summary: A touching look at growing up Review: "Stand By Me" is one of those simple movies that take a penetrating look at joys and sorrows of teen life. The film's basic concept doesn't exactly sound appealing, (four boys in search of a corpse) but I was pleasantly surprised with it's humourous and often moving portrayal of boys slowly evolving, mentally and emotionally. It doesn't for one moment seem artificial and unnatural, it is charged with every day emotions such as curiosity, fear, happiness, sadness, and finally, understanding. The performances by the four lead actors are excellent, especially Will Wheaton and River Phoenix. Definitely a film worth seeing.
Rating: Summary: Relive your Childhood Review: This movie helps you relive your childhood, but only if you were born before 1980, when you had to create your adventures. Today kids, sit in front of computer and play video games or watch TV all summer. The only problem I have with this Movie is the vomiting scene, I have a weak stomach.
Rating: Summary: The best movie ever. A must see for all River Phoenix fans! Review: Stand By Me is my favorite movie of all time. The cast is exceedingly wonderful. All though Gordie (Wil Wheaton) is supposed to be the main character, River Phoenix (as Chris Chambers) totally steals the audience. Jerry O'Connel is terrific as the chubby, scaredy-cat while Corey Feldman is perfect for the kind of crazy kid who teases Vern all of the time. Keifer Sutherland is just the right person to play the "bad guy" of the movie. River Phoenix in one of his first starring roles, is exceptional. While some say the only bad part is the use of four letter words doesn't fit the time period, they are wrong. First, many kids cuss when they're not around adults, so therefore the amount of cuss words is perfect. Second, the only bad thing is watching and knowing that River Phoenix is dead. It makes it hard to enjoy the first few minutes but you get over it and realise what a great movie this is. It is absoloutly the best, sincerely.
