Review: What Dreams May Come is a fascinating insight into a struggling family's recovery after two kids and a husband die and go to a unique concept of heaven. Robin Williams and Annabella Sciorra soar with magnificent performances (supported by an all-around spectacular cast!).After the death of their two and only children, the parents struggle to find their way. Two years later, her husband dies and goes to heaven. Overtaken by the emotions of her soul-mate being taken from her, she kills herself to be with her family, but instead goes to Hell, not know that she is dead. Robin is willing to go into the depths of Hell to accomplish what may be the hardest thing to do...save his wife's soul... This is a visual and conceptual feast with a unique and absolutely original story that I will never forget! This is a masterpiece!

Summary: Loved Even By A Truck Driver
Review: My husband picked up this DVD while we were out shopping and I was stunned. I knew I wanted to see it....but HIM. We watched it that very night and we both absolutely loved it. It is visually incredible and right up there with "Somewhere in Time" for my all time favorite love story. Robin Williams and Cuba Gooding Jr. are remarkable. The special effects awesome. The story line one of a kind and very much in line with todays open mindedness about reincarnation. If my "Big Ole Truck Driving Husband" is man enough to be touched by it, you likely will be too. I recommend it for everyone who has ever been truly in love or has wanted to be. It could easily make people appreciate love and life in a whole new way...Right to the core of their being. A WONDERFUL MOVIE.

Summary: Words cannot desribe the pain and sheer hideousness...
Review: This is a terrible movie. Every scene is about five minutes too long, so by the end you are left restless and bored. The acting is too restrained to be called good, and only adds to the overwhelming sense of boredom this movie creates. The visuals are sometimes beautiful, often overdone, never really necessary, and most of the time not even very interesting. Robin Williams and Annabella Sciorra are supposed to be soul mates, but there is nothing special about their relationship to make you think that it can last other than the script constantly reminding us (especially considering that she's a manic depressive and always moody). Their existence is supposed to have been sublime - but as I said, nothing about it seems worthy of the title. The children (who die early on), were apparently so neglected and felt so unloved by their parents that when they died they decided to be other people whom they believe their father really did love or admire. (By the way, those "plot" twists do not even manage to be passingly interesting, only confusing and reminders that this movie will never end) None of them are even likeable, the restrained performances do not help and only increase your lack of involvement or interest in their lives (or deaths. Whatever). This movie wanted to be good, god knows it tries desperately - but in the end it is one cliched mess after one overly long scene after yet another pointless flashback (as I said, the script has to remind us that their love was perfect since we get no sense of it on our own). Please, please, please do not see this movie!

Summary: Incredible imagery, plot line sometimes hard to follow thoug
Review: Although the use of colour and images is phenomenal in this movie, the plot seemed a bit hard to follow at times. The character of Cuba G. Jr. was difficult to follow until closer to the end. Parts of the movie made me cry, others made me laugh. It's definately a feel good movie.

Review: I saw this movie and was touched greatly. I was very suprised at how well it was done, and this is one of those films where Robin Williams does a great job acting serious instead of comical like he usually does. It has some rather strange parts in it...but it is a great film and I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Summary: A good, touching movie
Review: I found this movie to be a very touching and moving experience. While I don't necessarily agree with some of the religious conclusions in it, it is still a very good and worthwhile movie. The effects were incredible, the music was good, and the casting and dialogue was right on the money. Also, I LOVED the ending. While some others found the ending to be incomplete, I found it to be understated, and as a result, more poignant and powerful than it would have been otherwise.I'm not the sort of person to cry while watching a movie. In fact, I could probably count those experiences on one hand. However, there were SEVERAL points in this movie where I got a little teary-eyed. As a result, I HIGHLY recommend this movie, and gladly give it 5 Stars.

Summary: Surrelistic, but....
Review: A Critic once said that this movie is like walking through sand dunes with led boots. It's very easy to agree with that. There are so many plot holes in this movie, I don't know where to begin. The writers try to cover up these plot holes with random occurences that we are supposed to believe just because we are in a fantasy world. Miracles can be fun, but watching a magical event, one after another for 2 hours, is ridiculous. I love fantasy movies, but this just does fantasy and science fiction all wrong, and gives it a bad name. I'm not very religious, but what I notice is that people who are not religious hate this movie for it's views. Funny thing is, most people who are religious hate it even more. This movie is hard to stomach, the only thing that is worth watching are the absolutely beautiful computer rendered scenery. Not Reccomended.

Summary: Odd, interesting Adventure
Review: Robin Williams dies and goes to heaven, or something of that sort. This is the story of him trying to get back to his wife. The special effects are amazing. And of course Robin Williams is good as always. But it was just too long, a little boring, and there wasn't that much there to work with. Some of the points I didn't agree with, that is being a Catholic. But I'm not saying it was a bad movie, it was okay. I just probably won't watch it again.

Summary: Great imagery (shame about the story)
Review: If I could split my rating into two parts, I'd give this video five stars for its visual effects and about two stars for its plot. The use of CGI to create a heaven uniquely personalised to Robin Williams' character is stunning - his version of paradise is based on his wife's paintings, and everything is textured as if it's really made out of oil paint. The flowers, the sky, the shimmering surface of the lake - everything is almost unimaginably beautiful. The Hell he visits is a nasty place, though it's not quite as impressive as the film's visions of Heaven. 'What Dreams May Come' is only disappointing when you consider the message behind the story; muddled together from dozens of religions, philosphies and New Age beliefs, it ends up being a vision of the afterlife with very skewed morals: when the hero's wife commits suicide, she is condemned to spend eternity in Hell! I mean, come on! This is a terrible message. I was also unimpressed by the central couple's ultimate reincarnation as toddlers-in-love - this was awfully cheesy. If you want more intelligent examinations of mortality / the afterlife, watch 'The Sixth Sense' or even 'Being John Malkovich'. But for breathtaking special effects (probably best appreciated on a widescreen TV), 'What Dreams May Come' can't be beaten.

Summary: BRAVO!
Review: This has got to be one of the best films ever made! It did not get enough recognition at the academy awards, in my opinion. Robin Williams is fantastic in the role of a person getting used to the idea that his dead. It is also a wonderful love story that shows what one will do for his soulmate. The end may seem a little bit like a sell out, but that's because they had to cut about 2 minutes from it, which changes the meaning a lot (The Abyss syndrome, in other words). Cuba is fantastic; I would have given anything to see him win another Oscar. The effects are...well...Geez...words cannot describe the effects. You'll have to see them yourself. The soundtrack is fenomenal as well. This movie is a must for everyone.
