Summary: Probably the greatest and most realistic war movie yet!
Review: The movie does deserve its 'R' rating due to heavy level of violence and some blood, but there's hardly any cussing at all! Several uses of the 'D' and 'H' word come to mind, but there was nothing else! This is without a doubt the MILDEST 'R' rated movie I've seen! It almost didn't deserve the rating (in my opinion). It's very historically accurate presenting very well the Christianity and Patriotism upon which this country was founded. Roland Emmerich was an excellent choice to direct the picture! With unforgettable music, and astounding scope, and strong acting, 'The Patriot' stands as my all-time favorite war movie! Go buy it!

Summary: A movie driven by passion .
Review: This is a terrific movie that captivates with the energy and drive portrayed by the characters - a rare movie that links experiences with personality and passion. It is a movie which does not reveal all but gradually as you begin to understand the characters and their history the truth begins to unravel. Highly nerve wracking, gory but very moving and dramatic.

Summary: Not Quite Braveheart
Review: The movie was pretty good. The action was intense and at some points it reminded me of Braveheart. What surprised me the most was the humor in the movie. It was actually pretty good, but I think they've overdone it. But my main qualm with The Patriot is that #1: It wasn't long enought to be an epic, and #2: It just didn't have the same feel as Braveheart. The music and the scenery didn't feel too majestic. It did do well as an Action movie though. If you want to see a good colonial movie, watch Last of the Mohicans. If you want to see a good movie about revolution, watch Gladiator.

Summary: Mel Gibson Scores
Review: I remember trying to convince my cousin Sam to see this movie. I had already seen it, and I thought it was great. He kept saying "I've seen Brave Heart, and let's face it: what's so different about this movie?". I tried to tell him about the differences between the Mel Gibson characters, but he wouldn't budge. We ended up seeing X-Men, which wasn't anything of a movie. So I hope he reads this review, and he might change his mind.

Well, let's start off by saying it's partly true. Now I mean partly, because some of the scenes in the movie are unimaginable. I was listening to a call in talk show, and there was an argument about the scene where the British burn down a church with people inside. If it was true or not, it left a mark on me.

Mel Gibson plays a very powerful role. His oldest kid has just left to fight in the revolutionary war. Gibson decides to join in order to protect his family. He fought in a previous war, and his experience shows on the battlefield. He has a clever mind, and it leaves you hanging to see what he'll do next.

Another character, Heath Ledger, plays the oldest son who joins the war. His character's view on things makes it hard to figure who's right: Gibson or Ledger.

So there you have it. See the movie. Don't be afraid to cry, Half the theater was when I went. And be warned: This movie will make you think.

Summary: Heath Ledger lover
Review: I thought there was much more to this movie than just the gore and violence it touched the very core of family issues and also love. Mel Gibson was amazing in this film and Heath Ledger as well. This film touched me- I cried 4 times during it. I sincerely recommend this film to anyone out there who has ever loved and lost, or who wants a good cry.

Summary: The best movie i have ever seen
Review: I love this movie! The plot is about a man who lives in Charleston South Carolina. He is a war veteran who goes back to war after a british colonel kills his teenage son. filmed entirely in SC including 15 miles from my house. Due to blood and language this isn't a movie for the kiddies. Hope this review is helpful!

Summary: Insulting Inaccurate Holywood trash
Review: Even though I was a Brit I went to see this film with an open mind. I was hoping to see a good epic that would rival Braveheart, Gladiator and Last of the Mohicans. Instead I I found a film with its charachters so one dimensional you would think they were made from card and a plot so predictable even an idiot could guess what would happen next. The Historical inaccuricies were glaring and down right insulting. Banastre Tarleton on who Issacs charachter was based was portryed as a sadistic Nazi (Instead of the distinguished Soldier and hero he was) who shot wounded who burned people in Church's. Sorry that was the Germans in France in 44 Wrong war and Century. The battle scenes were pretty spectacular although unless you are an American you will be ill at all the flag waving that goes on. The dialouge was full of cliches E.G A hithertwo rascist at the end suddenly declaring he was proud to fight alongside a blackman.

Inshort This is a film that could have been a brilliant epic but instead became an unoriginal Holywood pop corn flick that tries its best to insult the British.

Summary: It just isn't Braveheart, it shouldn't try to be...
Review: Another movie where the best part happens in about 30 minutes, than its all downhill from there. It would of been alot better, if they'd knocked off that hour of boredom, they really went over board with the plot development.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Much Underrated
Review: It seems to me that, of the reviews I've read from *major* critics (meaning those who get paid to critique movies), they bashed this movie because of its director. Whatever they may think about Emmirich's last few movies, those things cannot be applied to The Patriot. Stargate, Independence Day, and even Godzilla were throwaway, enjoyable popcorn movies. The Patriot, though, is an entirely different production. The action scenes are among the best ever created (better than the all for shock value of Saving Private Ryan). Mel Gibson gives his best performance (rivaling Braveheart), and his on screen relationship with his son (Heath Ledger) is excellent. Speaking of Braveheart, there are many comparisons between this film and that, yet Braveheart is considered much better. Why? Supposedly, The Patriot is not historically accurate. But let's look closer: no one actually knows everything William Wallace (of Braveheart) really did, yet it's an Oscar winner. Bottom line: if Speilberg had directed this, it'd be an awards sweeper.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: It's Hollywood not History
Review: The battle scenes in this film were very accurate but the portrayl of Americans in the Revolution in this movie was so off base, Even Mel's performance as a Patriot soon failed to interest me. It seemed forced and unfocused. And rushed film making like this has become Roland Emmerich's trade mark, regretfully.
