Summary: ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC FROM BEGINNING TO END
Review: I have been trying to find this mini-series for many, many years. It was so inspiring when I saw it the first time on television many years ago. It is worth buying as having it as a part of my video collection. Seeing Emma go through these struggles with the Farley family; gave me the strength to go on when I didn't think I could make it. I particuarly liked the fact that they let Emma age during the series and she ended up being played by Deborah Kerr; what a great idea. This is one series that I will watch over and over again. The acting is superb, the directing is done with a wonderful technique and the scenery is beautiful from beginnning to end.

Review: I have watched these videos countless times to the point where I can practically recite them word for word, yet I will NEVER get tired of them. Emma Harte's strength and iron will pulled her out of a life of poverty to make it all the way to the top. She did it all by herself with help from no one. I admire her because once she made up her mind there was no stopping her. No matter what tragedy or misfortune she suffered, she ALWAYS conquered it and kept right on going. I LOVE THESE VIDEOS!!!

Review: I saw this movie for the first time in the 1980's. It is a prime example of how hardships and unjust treatment can help give a person strength and determination to do what must be done to succeed and pick yourself up out of poverty and no longer become the victim of circumstances.

Summary: Think You Can't Make It
Review: The protrayal of Emma Harte in the movie A Woman of Substance, shows the viewer the struggle of a young teenage girl and the trials of growing up, the events of struggling to make a stand as a young business woman and mother and the endurance over the years to the become the pinnacle of greatness. This was an excellent movie. It helped me regain inner strength that my trials and struggles can be conquered. The only thing I wish was brought out more, was the different ages Emma was throughout the movie. It would help the viewer know at what age Emma was at during different segments of her life.
