Rating: Summary: Letdown Review: As a fan of so called "independent" movies I was looking forward to seeing this one, especially after all the great press it had received. It turned out to be disappointing. The plot, while interesting, is a bit thin, and Christina Ricci's character is woefully underwritten. During the second half of the movie I kept wondering why she seemed to have no concern how friends, family, a roommate etc. might be reacting to her absence. Nice try, but not the home run some have made it out to be.
Rating: Summary: Heavy handed and somewhat derivative, but still worth a look Review: It was almost impossible to watch this movie and not be constantly reminded of "Leaving Las Vegas," if it had been written and directed by Quentin Tartentino. Having said that, this often profoundly sad movie (don't pay attention to those wanting you to believe it is a comedy, dark or otherwise) is still worth a look, if only for the presence of the great Anjelica Houston and a solid performance by Ben Gazara. Not for all tastes, but for those looking for something a little outside the mainstream, this might work.
Rating: Summary: Gallo is BRILLIANT Review: This is one of my absolute all time favorites. It was so well written well shot and well portrayed. It is definitely worth owning because seeing it a dozen times just isn't enough. I would reccomend this movie to anyone because I think that anyone could relate to Billy Brown although he is an unusual character. He is sensitive but cold is a grown adult but child like at times. His outbursts of rage, such as the beginning bathroom scene are darkly funny but disturbing at the same time. Anybody with half a brain will enjoy this one if they just keep an open mind and form their opinion after the movie.
Rating: Summary: SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT BE MISSED Review: There was a scene in the end of this film in which Vincent Gallow walks into a strip club to kill the man who "ruined his life" the dynamics of this scene are amazing the music Vincent wrote makes such a great BackDrop that it really gives the movie alot Buffalo 66 is the story of how love is much stronger than death or violence Christina Ricci will be the next Meryll Streep i think that she has phenominal talent and will for a long time see this movie and let it invade your thoughts -alex
Rating: Summary: Vincent Gallo will be the next "Alfred Hitchcock"!!!!! Review: Buffalo '66 is an instant cult classic. People are telling total strangers to see this movie. I wish I could buy stock in Vincent Gallo, he is bound for greatness.
Rating: Summary: This is my favorite movie ever. Review: The reviews I've read call it pretentious;it is artsy. But every time I see it, it consumes my thoughts for days.
Rating: Summary: BEAUTIFUL! One of the best movies I've ever seen.... Review: Not only is Buffalo 66 a heartwarming tale of unlikely lovers , but it's extremely hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing throughout the movie. And surely, I couldn't repress my silly grin at the triumphant ending!
Rating: Summary: More Than Just Spanning Time Review: Funny, sad, funny, thought-provoking, funny and really funny. Vincent Gallo's performance is incredible. Completely convincing as Billy Brown, Gallo breaks your heart and makes you smile. I liked Billy and could relate to his frustration-driven outbursts. I gladly accepted a late fee from the video store just so I could make my friends watch this movie. The dialog is so engaging you have to rewind and relisten. The ending is satisfying -- a feat so rarely achieved by writers and directors. Excellent, worth owning.
Rating: Summary: VINCE does a Proud job! Review: After seeing the trailer for this film a few months before watching it I thought I was going to be in for a real turkey. Instead I saw what was easily the best film of '98...and the only reason it didn't win a whole sack load of film prizes is because *it* didn't want to, there were none *it* liked! (Film "in joke").
Rating: Summary: Excellent direction/acating make this film a must see. Review: Buffalo '66 is an indie film about the days following the release of Billy Brown, a young felon released from prision who now has to face up to the lies he made up to console his parents. Those lies consist of this: He has a beautiful wife, a job in congress, and that he was never in prision. To fufil the part of the wife, he "kidnaps" a young hottie (Ricci), and they go to see his parents (Huston and Gazzara). The fil goes on from there into a murderous revenge plot. To tell anymore would be a sin, but the film is worth multiple viewings. The acting, writing, and direction are superb, with preformances from Mickey Rourke, Jan Micheal Vincent, Rosanna Arquett, and, of course, Gallo.
