Summary: A Customer Who Lives Near Grass Creek
Review: I missed this movie when it came to the local theaters and was glad to see it come out on video. I live near Grass Creek, about four miles from the town and also the church at Fletcher's Lake that was used in the movie. I thought the movie was good overall, it did show how life is around Grass Creek. The story concept was excellent and amusing. It is a film that families can enjoy together. The extras they used in the film are neighbors, school teachers, pastors, etc and their relatives that I knew from living there all of my life. Unfortunately, they picked the people who are 'normal' as extras. I could have directed them to some real 'characters' that I know that would have spruced it up similar to Chevy Chase's Funny Farm or Andy Griffith's Mayberry (The bride's brothers were the closest to the real McCoy). The gravy eating scene used brown gravy and pork. The standard around here is white country sausage gravy over homemade biscuits and home fried potatoes. Most of the farmers here spend the morning in the coffee shop telling jokes and stories while eating a big platter of it.
While watching the film you will get the most out of it if you look at the details in the background,(the houses, the buildings, and the scenery) because it is all real and not a made-up set.

Summary: The Best
Review: I saw The Best Man of Grass Creek when it premiered in Indiana. What a breath of fresh air. This is a movie with an old-fahioned love theme in the styles of the 1950s movies. It's clean, wholesome and thoroughly enjoyable! Set in a rural Indiana farm setting, the characters are real and captured my heart. (It was filmed on location and used lots of locals who were great in their parts!) Humorous? wait till you see the dinner table scene! And the musical score is fantastic. I found myself humming the tune all the way home. This movie keeps you wondering what's around the corner. Never a dull moment. DEFINITELY a must see movie. Enjoy!!!

Summary: Best Movie in Grass Creek
Review: I watched it twice in a row. It was hard to hear a lot of the dialogue, probably because we've got 4 kids and 2 dogs, and the phone kept ringing. The second time through, however, was excellent. (The kids ...They loved it, once they started watching it.)

Some scenes, like the House of Gravy, were very funny the first time, but not as funny the 2nd time through. Most of the scenes were a lot better the 2nd time, because there were things I missed the first time. There are a lot of subtle facial expressions and things like that which get funnier when you watch it again.

The town itself is very entertaining. It's a boring small town in Indiana, but it was also really fascinating. ...There are several beautifully photographed shots of the countryside that are used to move from scene to scene. These were particularly well done.

It was a funny script, and was failry well acted. All the key players were very good. Jimmy got funnier and funnier, particularly in the 2nd showing. He reminded me of a young Michael Keaton.

The music was good, particularly as the bride marched to the alter. The country western songs were mixed too loud. My kids loved them - this was the first time they've heard twangy music - but I kept having to adjust the volume.

All in all, this was a really nice movie. Nice town. Nice people. Nice and funny. Warm and comfortable. And it wasn't sappy, like a lot of family oriented films can be. It had some corny moments, but it had enough meat to go along with it.

Review: I wrote a very cruel review for this film despite the fact that I never saw it. I was being petty and selfish and I apologize. Please disregard the review (1 Star, Viewer from Chicago).

Thank you.

Summary: Hollywood Take Note!
Review: It doesn't take millions of dollars, violence and sex to produce an outstanding film. This was a real fun, feel good movie with a fresh approach. A warm, funny movie, with unexpected surprises, that appealed to the entire family.Thank you John Newcombe and John Hines for making this film. We can't wait to see your next movie. ...

Summary: Pleasantly Suprised
Review: My husband and I checked this out of the library and didn't expect much. We were pleasantly suprised. The gentle humor beneath the obvious humor is a delight. The extras who looked like real people (come to find out they were real people) instead of Hollywood caricatures were a delight. I enjoyed the quiet moments in the movie. So few movies nowadays have any moments without noise of some sort. I enjoyed the country scenery. And of course, I enjoyed the fact that it was such a refreshingly clean movie.

Summary: Slow and Boring
Review: The film was alright, a pleasent enough effort, however, Megan Mullaley is hardly in it and it's not a particulary interesting film. It suffers from a genuine lack of pacing and the actress who played the wife (the ugly woman) was grating and could NOT act at all.

Don't waste your time or money on this one.

Summary: Best Man in Grass Creek
Review: This is one of the best films I have seen for years! A clean, funny movie that warrants a second and third viewing. I don't have the video, but saw it on a movie channel. (I can't get the video or DVD in England). I read a lot of reviews from people who are either near to, or have visited Grass Creek; all of which gives you a taster for the movie, especially if you live on the other side of the pond!

Can't wait to buy it when it becomes available in England.
