Rating: Summary: A Classic Review: Legends of the Fall has something for everyone. It has suspense, war, politics, sibling rivalry, romance, tragedy, unfounded guilt, envy, unforgiveness and forgiveness, tradition and more. It believe it is one of the best films ever produced. The cinematography is outstanding and the plot tells a fabulous story about three brothers and their father; how love and hate can tear one family apart, yet also bring them together. Brad Pitt is perfect for the part of Tristin Ludlow, which this epic tale is based around. To look at him in this film is enough to see the deep emotions that lie beneath Tristin, not to mention the fact that Brad Pitt happens to look breath taking with long hair. It's almost as if the character were written with him in mind. Anthony Hopkins gives a realistic view of what it must be like to be disabled. The rest of the cast is equally good and the mix works extremely well in this film. Again, the photography is unsurpassed and there are key points in the film where Tristin's entrances are done in such a way and more than one time in a similar fashion, to create an anxious anticipating "in awe" effect. I would put this film up against Gone With The Wind as an all time classic.
Rating: Summary: Special Edition vs. Regular DVD Review: 1. Special edition has a 4.5 picture instead of a 5, but still great.2. More Audio and many more subtitle options in the special. 3. Special has commentary from Zwick, Pitt, Toll Kilvert, theatrical trailers, 3 deleted scenes with commentary, EPK featurette, isolated score, and a talent file. The regular DVD probably only has the talent file, although none of these extras are listed with the regular release.
Rating: Summary: Implausible and fragmented Review: Unsatisfying, grotesque, lame parable about selling out. Pitt tries for smoldering, but comes off smarmy. Ormond is aloof and never connects with anyone, let alone her character. The little brother is pitiable and loathsome. Hopkins is the only bright spot - making the best of a flawed role. Save your money.
Rating: Summary: This movie is a must see! Review: Legends of the Fall is a very moving and emotional film about family, and how a family that was once together becomes broken apart by the miseries of war. I would recommend this film to anyone who loves those tearjerkers, and of course a great film!
Rating: Summary: A DVD that is sure to become a LEGEND Review: There is only one thing I can say about this DVD movie. Bravo! I own the VHS verson of this film and was looking for a way to expierence more. I was pleased to get a glimps of what the actors were feeling when making this wounderfully cast film. With a DVD, there is more to it than just the movie and the credits. You get a feeling of controll when you can choose what you would like to view at what time. The picture is so clear and with a movie like LEGENDS, you can expierence the spactacular landscaping that is Montanna. Each sound and sight is so much better than the VHS version. Plus you can see the behind the scens of the film and get cast and crew comentairy. I look forward to viewing other DVD movies in the future.
Rating: Summary: An Epic Film That Deserves High Recognition Review: This is by far one of the greatest epic stories ever created. The story of three brothers and their war-retired father in a struggle to survive the wilderness and each other in early 1900's Montana. This is by far the greatest acting performance (with maybe the exception of 12 Monkeys) of Brad Pitt's life. This is definetly one of the greatest movies of all time.
Rating: Summary: Great tale of early American strife Review: Three Ludlow brothers compete to be the best and maybe to win approval from their hard father, Colonel William Ludlow (Sir Anthony Hopkins). But one brother takes on more of a shine, Tristan Ludlow ( Brad Pitt). Being his own man with his own code, he ascents in a rustic manor to be the one who is first in line. But, fate fights the order. Along comes war and a wonderful love interest, ( Julia Ormond ) Susannah Fingannon who hopes to marry a third brother. An unexpected tragedy wrings wonderful story twists. Early American families and morays. Good stuff! Also stars: Aidan Quinn.

I have seen it so many times I can't count and it still makes me cry! The acting is superb! The story line is heartwarming, witty, and moving! The scenery is beautiful! If you haven't seen this movie - rent it or buy it! You will not be dissappointed and I can almost guarantee you even the hardest hearts will break a little!
Rating: Summary: Prepare yourself. Review: His name is Tristan. In rural Montana, circa the 1910's, he grows up. He comes from a warm, very close-knit family. He loves his father and brothers very much. He loves the wise, old Indian who was virtually a second father to him. And they all love him. One day his youngest brother Samuel comes home and announces plans to marry the woman he loves, Susannah. But when World War I breaks out, Samuel dies in battle, leading Tristan to officially wage war against God Himself. With this action comes lust for Susannah..... Feuding between the two remaining brothers.... Restlessness.... Madness.... Revenge..... It will haunt you.... Forever.
Rating: Summary: Great movie for couples. Review: LEGENDS OF THE FALL is a movie that will appeal to both male and females alike. It can not be labeled as a "chick flick" or a non-stop action adventure either. It is a combination of both. Making it the perfect movie to see with your significant other. My wife loved the romantic love story and, of course, Brad Pitt. As a historian I enjoyed the setting: the mid-west in the 1910s and World War I. This move in fact won the 1994 Academy Award for Best Cinematography. We both found Anthony Hopkins performance superb (as usual). Without giving away the story the movie shows the life of a family of three brothers and their father, the brothers love for one woman, and the families struggles for survival. See this movie today with the one you love!
