Summary: A Thought-Provoking Film
Review: Instinct is a video for people who like to think about a movie long after it's over. The beginning credits to the video indicate that the story is based on Daniel Quinn's book, Ishmael. The movie is much more meaningful if you have read Ishmael and vice-versa. And, by the way, in addition to reading Ishmael, read Quinn's other books, The Story of B and My Ishmael. The books and video will change the way you forever look at the world! Instinct will help to make you a more sensitive and socially-conscious sentient being with a much better appreciation for life and all life forms!

Review: This movie has really good acting I wonder why Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jr. weren't nominated for the Oscars and I also wonder why this movie (which is really good) didn't made more $$ on the Box Office this is quite sad that good movies like this are not seen because of special effects movies which have a really thin story this movie is definately one of the bests released in 1999 (and The Sixth Sense)

Review: Excellent movie, well written and acted, wonderful cast, and a deeply touching story. A definite favorite on my short list of favorites. One comment: Why only 2.35:1 aspect ratio? Seems like a waste of media to me.

Summary: Best movie in years! This film moved me..
Review: "Instinct" is one of the greatest films I've seen in a LONG time. Anthony Hopkins has long been one of my favourite actors but I believe this was his best performance. There's one simple way to tell if a movie is a classic.. if you go away taking a piece of the movie and its message with you. And for me, that was one of "Instinct's" finest qualities. I was moved by the way they got the message through involving Hopkins and the Gorillas. The truth within that brought a million emotions out that were inside me. (btw I am an Animal Rights Activist and Vegan) I'm so glad that the movie touched on the subject of humans destroying helpless animals' families and environment. It's a subject that needs to be brought to the forefront more often. A+++ Movie.. a MUST SEE!

Summary: Forget the critics; Best Movie of the Year
Review: Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jr. team up for a fabulous film. Hopkins, from Silence of the Lambs, plays another fantastic role as a psycho. Cuba Gooding Jr is superb in his first starring role. There are many other great actors in riveting movie. The plot may not seem enticing, but don't judge this movie by its cover.

Review: A powerful movie. Thought provoking, emotional. It touched my heart. You can't watch this movie thinking about the accomplishments of the stars Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jr. or compare their performances in other movies. You'll miss it. You have to focus on the story and the characters. Look past the impeccable grooming of Anthony Hopkins as a prisoner. After all prisoners don't have much to do. May be that's what he does to past time. Gooding seemed to be overacting, but that's what the part required, an ambitious psychiatrist trying to make a name for himself. Even after he becomes involved his training as a psychiatrist persisted. After all it's hard to give up what has taken us so long to learn. This movie isn't trying to teach us something; it's presenting ideas for us to think about.

Review: This movie is probably the finest movie I've seen this year and possibly the finest movie I've ever seen. The acting in this movie was beyond great it was legendary. If you only see one movie this year let it be this one.

Review: A great movie that was done injustice by the critics. I think the critics saw this movie as somewhat of a clone of "Silence Of The Lambs". Anthony Hopkins plays another "psycho" and maybe they thought he should try some new roles. He has, but he plays the "psycho" role better than anyone else and I'd like to see some more movies where he plays a lunatic. The story is great and very entertaining. From this movie, we learn some lessons about human culture. Men are controllers and tyrants. They take what they want and do what they want without thinking or realizing what the consequences may be. This can be applied to many things from the destruction of the rain forests, without regard to animals, to the depletion of the ozone layer to further industrialization to nuclear war. Suspenseful, educational, entertaining. All together a great movie!

Summary: Not excellent, just good.
Review: Instinct wasn't a bad film. I didn't think that it was that original, but it still no doubt was watchable and not poor. I thought that the acting by all was better-than-good (especially Anthony Hopkins as always). Instinct delivers a good message. It reminded me a bit of other movies I've already seen though. I doubt I'll watch this again, but I still consider it to be a pretty good movie.
