Summary: Highly Informative
Review: I viewed this movie in my religion class. I found it to be very interesting and infomative. It provided an accurate and tasteful view of what life must have been like in the 1950's. After watching this movie, I have much more respect for people who face struggles in everyday life because of prejudice. I suggest watching this movie if you enjoy uplifting movies that leave you with a sense of hope. All of the actors make the characters come alive in a very realistic way.
Whoopi Goldberg portrays a strong willed negro woman who remains loyal to her white employers but still makes her opinion known to all those around her. She wants negroes to be treated with the same respect that whites are treated with.
I now have a much better understanding of what people will be willing to do when their rights are put in jeopardy.
I highly recommend watching this movie.

Summary: the long walk home review
Review: I watched the long walk home in my morality class. I think that it was excellent. It was very informative and taught me a lot about the Montgomerey bus boycott. From this movie i learned just how mean people really were in the 1950's. I think that it was cruel how blacks were treated just because of their skin color. I think watching the movie gave me a good sense of something that i knew had happened but i didnt know how bad it was until i saw this movie. I think that everyone should watch it once in their life, by watching movies about racial segregation people might see how horrible it was and will make sure to be nicer to people of different races. I would highly recommend watching this movie. I deserves 5 stars not 4.6

Summary: My Moral Reveiw of The Lonh Walk HOme
Review: In my eleventh grade Morality class, our teacher made us view The Long Walk Home in oreder to show a more real look to the segregation that existed in the South. The movie however went beyond my expectations and proved to more enjoyable and informative then I originally thought. The movie is a beautiful story that revolves around the historic Montgomery Bus Boycott. The characters are all strong and memorable, and are portrayed by amazingly convincing actors and actresses. The movie brings to life the real story and hardships felt by the negro society of America during these troubling times. The Long Walk Home is a movie that questions the morality princples that one lives by, and is also a movie that reveals the characters as both true to life and historically correct. The Long Walk Home is an amazing movie to watch when one wants to see the struggle of human goodness verse that of immoral attitudes. The movie also questions whether the viewer is a person who follows along with congregated crowd or if they follow the less traveled more righteous path.

Review: No need for me to say more than just read Maltin's review. On this one he is right on.

Summary: Truly a moving experience
Review: Not only have I seen this movie (several times), but I had the privilege to be a part of the cast ( in a minor way). To live through the making, and to witness the final process only reinforced the truly remarkable presentation of the reality of Montgomery (and many parts of our country) in the 1950's. The movie spent a considerable time on the shelf waiting for the right time to release, then had the misfortune to follow Mississippi Burning's release, which received significant press. The Long Walk Home, with its' poignant reminders of everyday life, puncuated by the violence of the underside of society, hits home with a message that needs to be heard again and again.

Summary: A True Favorite of Mine
Review: Sissy, as a sophisticated, mature woman, in a tender and touching screenplay, by John Cork, that revolves around the 1955 bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama. As Miriam Thompson, Sissy is the well-to-do wife of a city official whose busy life ("I'll be at the beauty parlor this morning, then there's a club luncheon, then I have this Junior League thing this afternoon...") is inconveniently affected by the fact that her maid, Odessa (Goldberg), has chosen to support the boycott, and is sometimes late for work. Goldberg, a deeply talented actress who plays *herself* a little too often to be taken seriously, is superb in a role that has very few lines. She lets her expressions (or lack thereof) do the work for her, and she is wholly believable as the maid who takes care of Miriam's family, and then must make the long walk home to take care of her own. The character studies of Miriam and Odessa are overlooked gems in both actresses careers, and it becomes apparent that the struggle is not just that of racism, but of feminism, as well. We are treated to a classic performance by Sissy, again expanding her own consciousness and rising above her milieu. The art direction is also one of the stars of this film, with amazing attention to period details. Supporting roles are extremely well cast. Sissy's daughter, Schuyler, who is already a veteran actress at 18, can be briefly glimpsed in her first film appearance, as the daughter's friend in the park scene. *Long Walk Home* is always elegant, but not always pretty, and it commands the viewers attention - like a picture postcard from another era arriving decades too late

Summary: mike's opinion and review
Review: The film, The Long Walk Home, was a very excellent one in that it showed how things really were at one time. It showed the brutality that people had toward our fellow man and how people don't respect others because of a God-given feature such as skin color. It was hard to watch at times, hard to believe that people can be so rude, ignorant, and immature. It opened my eyes as to how exactly black people were treated and how they were looked down on and mis-treated. This film is one to be remembered because it showed the truth, and even though the truth is not what many wish to see, it is the facts. Odessa showed courage, love, and most of all faith. These three virtues helped her immensely to get through the tough times of her life. I recommend it to anyone who wishes to seek knowledge about the past and wants to learn from it.
