Summary: Total "chick" movie (sorry, guys!)
Review: A married couple who are too busy with their own lives, go out to dinner, and their house is burgularized. She keeps journals, and writes about her romantic fantasies. Steven Bauer, sees them and takes them along with a portrait of her and becomes obsessed with wanting to meet her. He has an advantage since he knows exactly what to say and knows what she's thinking from her journals. They get together on his pretense of needing an interior decorator (her profession) and the rest of the movie is awesome. One scene he is teaching her to shoot a gun....(wonder if they use that technique in all the gun shops???)Cute movie.....

Summary: sexiest movie I ever seen
Review: Every since the first time I saw this move, I loved it.
Ilove Steven Bauer. He's so sexy and handsome. I think every woman at one time had a "Thief of Hearts" in her life. I finally go my own video of it for Christmas. I really want the soundtrack. I know other people have asked about it. Can you let me know where I can get it? I love the end of the move when he looks back at her and the song plays.

Summary: A very sensual movie: GREAT for a rainy day!
Review: I enjoyed this movie and the soundtrack immensely. What a sexy plot and the lead actor is very handsome.

Summary: Classy erotica with a beautiful story...
Review: I first saw this during my freshman year in college and have never forgotten it as the perfect erotic story of a "good girl/bad boy". The fact that I graduated 11 years ago lets you know that it made an impression on me. I could easily put myself in the position of the woman in the film, and it was a position where I definitely would want to be! Reading the other reviews that mentioned the soundtrack immediately made me start humming the theme and I had not even thought of this song or movie in years!

Summary: Ahead of it's time erotica
Review: I first saw this in 1985 when I worked in a video store and then watched it repeatedly. "Norm" from "Cheers" even has a small role in it. Steven Bauer was an unknown at the time but he's very sexy and it's an entertaining film. If you like his work, check him out in "Running Scared", "Scarface", "Primal Fear", "Raising Cain" and "Traffic". He was also married to Melanie Griffith years ago. Lucky her. I've also been looking for the soundtrack and saw it in a shopping mall in Denver on cassette about 16 years ago but didn't have any cash to buy it. Bummer. Bored married women will enjoy Barbara Williams' character, who literally escapes from her drab existence and eventually strengthens her marriage by doing so. Good flick. David Caruso from "NYPD Blue" had a pretty memorable role as well.

Summary: Love this movie
Review: I had a friend who loved this movie when it first came out, but I never got around to seeing it. A few years ago I was in Paris for work and I was bored, in my hotel when this movie came on. It was in French but I still loved it, and yes, I cried at the end. Steven Bauer is great in this. His inability to become what Mickey wants him to be is what makes his character likable. Try as he might he just can't shake who he really is, especially as their relationship progresses and he starts to reveal himself to Mickey. Can't wait to see it in English!

Summary: Steven Bauer is great !
Review: I love this movie ! I think Steven Bauer is a great actor and don't understand why we don't see more of him. This is a nice, easy-going movie done with good taste. There's a touch of danger combined with a touch of love that will have you in tears in the end. If a love story is your game than you need to see Thief of Hearts.

Summary: Good movie with a great soundtrack
Review: I remember seeing this movie when it first came out in 1984. I thought it was a good film and really enjoyed it. The music in this movie is really good and it adds a certain sexy appeal to the film's love scenes. I found this movie to be highly erotic which I love and thought the lovemaking scene in the thief's bedroom was done in very good taste without being too ponographic. As far as the acting is concern, Steven Bauer was very convincing as the man who disruptured Mickey's somewhat perfect marriage after stealing her diaries. As for Barbara Williams, no big deal I think she really needs to relax more in front of the camera she looked tense in most scenes. She really would benefit from enrolling in a good drama school and really learning her craft. David Caruso formerly on NYPD BLUE and now on CSI MIAMI, is also quite good as the volatile Bobby Calamara. I gave this movie three stars because I believe the movie could have told more about Scott's personal life and find out more about his background. He was extremely private and the audience I feel felt they were missing a great deal to his way of thinking and why he did what he did for a living. He was a loner, perhaps too much of a loner. Still this was a good movie I'm glad that they finally released it on DVD I wish they would release the soundtrack on CD, I love the music in this movie it is extremely romantic and erotic. Overall, what made this movie appealing to me was no doubt Steven Bauer's performance. He is a great actor is just too bad that we haven't seen too much of him especially in really good movies. Most of the movies that he has done have gone straight to video and they're pretty dissapointing the majority of them. It would be a good thing if he was offered a starring role in a major motion picture that would really show what he is capable of as an actor. Like I said he is a great actor who has not really been the kind of opportunities that actors like Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt have had. Buy this movie is really good and very sexy. See it with somone you care or love a great deal. I guarantee that after you and your significant other see THIEF OF HEARTS, you will want to make love for hours.

Summary: 'Thief of Hearts' on DVD: fuggedaboudit!
Review: Lookin' to replace my aging VHS tape of "Thief of hearts", I found a good deal on the DVD edition, took it home, and watched it. I was hangin' in there, enjoying the performances by supporting actors George Wendt (who would eventually sign on as the bar-fly 'Cliff' on 'Cheers' Shortly after this came out) and a weasely & somewhat psychotic David Caruso (who hit it big with 'NYPD Blue' a decade later). Then came the overwhelming torrent of dismay when I found out the big nudie/boink scene-- which commences a little under an hour in, for the information of all you fast-forward-happy horndogs out there-- was cut down by almost a minute as compared to the VHS edition scene! I couldn't believe it-- one of the greatest non-hardcore nudie/boink scenes of all time (right up there with the 'Playboy-playmate-oil-up' moment in "Tennessee Buck" and the 'Catholic High School Girls in Trouble' segment in "Kentucky Fried Movie"), butchered! Oh why, Paramount, why?!?!?!

Needless to say, if you have the VHS edition of 'Thief of Hearts', and you're thinkin' of trading up, I highly recommend you hold off 'til they put out the unedited-boink-scene version on DVD. Don't allow yourself to suffer the disappointment that I've experienced...

'Late
